Hello everyone, we finally got a house and now doing some demolition in it. Out with the old and in with the new.
Just wanted to give you a quick update. In these 10 days we also removed carpet from 2nd floor but I didn't take any pictures of it.
Will keep posting updates and eventually shop build.
As you can see, under the hardwood we found plywood, which explained why those floors were so much higher than tiled floors. To remove black tar adhesive from concrete we are using Sentinel Formula 747 adhesive remover (home depot). It really works.
Wish us luck as we continue to destroy the old.

Looks like a good start....... Having done a couple myself I feel for you back, knees and shoulders. If they’re not aching after the floor removal..... we’ll just give it time. Just keep the faith it will eventually turn out as fine as your pistols!

Thank you. Yes, my upper half was unusually "awake" and letting me know it was alive with every move. For plywood I had to use a jack. Lol

Yes, all bathrooms, kitchen, fireplace, some walls, some windows, all floors, most electric, will need to fix and update ducting, move some plumbing, etc. I always told my wife my OCD makes me want to look inside every wall, just to see what is hiding there. So I am enjoying every minute of it.

The 2 ton floor jack was used to do _____ ?
@MosinVirus
@MosinVirus 5 лет назад
Lift those 8x4 plywood sheets. I didnt want to cut them into pieces and in some cases couldn't get all around with the pry bar. The jack worked wonderfully. By the way, previous owner just offered to leave it and I accepted, so as i was struggling to "pop" the plywood sheet with my gutster bar it came in handy.

Thank you. Those things were nailed down pretty excessively. Some nails pulled out with pieces of concrete, others ripped through plywood and stayed in concrete. The whole process was something I never want to go through again. Very happy that part of it is done.

@Je3perscre3pers
@Je3perscre3pers 5 лет назад
Yeah my house was built in 1900 so it needs lots of renovating if I want to fit something as big as a bridge port in the basement. Im actually thinking of just moving so i dont have to worry about my stuff getting stolen. All 9 of my guns were stolen last summer

@MosinVirus
@MosinVirus 5 лет назад
@@RangerCaptain11A I think we will go laminate. Cheaper and easier to maintain/replace if needed. No worry about dropping stuff on it, etc.
@RangerCaptain11A
@RangerCaptain11A 5 лет назад
@@MosinVirus I use the $0.89 sq/ft saratoga hickory at HD. That line has the t-moldings, 1/4 round, and stair nosing. I spend the money on the underlayment so the floor is quiet to walk on, and it's a cushion and insulation. It's Roberts Underlayment from amazon, made from shredded cloths and has a vapor barrier. It makes the inexpensive laminate feel like $3.00 stuff.
