This is a complete how to for our DIY Retro Arcade 60 in 1 kit for the Arcade1Up. This kit will work with any of the vertical Arcade1Up machines. The kit is 90% complete, we try to layout what needs to be purchased from your local hardware store ;) This video is for the absolute beginner, and we tried to go step by step explaining what everything does and how it does together. At the very end you need to install a LCD driver board to the monitor, you can find our video for that here:

Great site to order from. This video is very good, first one installed and just took time since it was new to me. Just a few things I found on my own and hope I help someone else with my same level of experience.... (0). - You will need screws, this kit (at least mine) doesn't have them it's 90% complete as indicated on the site. (Speaker nuts and bolts were listed. These were not: joystick, mounting for board, PS, amp, etc.) I wasn't happy just using 3M double sided tape. Go to the hardware store first. Since this was my first install for any of this, I kinda learned as I went. Wish a list of size screws was listed, only a minor thing. Not a complaint, this was on me. 3 trips to Lowes here. LOL - Go ahead and buy the trackball and control panel that supports it. Very awesome quality! - You will need wire. Just get a small spool of 20 gauge speaker wire from Amazon. I thought I ordered 4x of the 1 ft, but I probably only hit x1 in the cart. My fault. - You will need wire terminals unless soldiering. You will at least need them for the power supply. - EMI filter is very easy to mount on the back panel using a drill and keyhole saw. - If your screen image is shifted way down after install, I tried to auto-adjust and it didn't work. I switched DIP switch 4 up, powered up and it fixed the screen. Powered off and switch back down and the screen has been right so far. This took me a while, hope it saves someone some time. - My joystick came 8 way, switch to 4 way for most of the games on the 60 in 1. You don't have to flip the plate as shown on the site, mine just turned after removing the screws and putting them back. - There is no (that I can find) way of leaving a game back to menu other than losing all lives or powering everything down. Probably since this was meant for coins, game ends and switch game after another quarter. :) Anyway, hope this helps someone. You will be happy with this kit. Ordered several items from diyretroarcade, never disappointed.

Great kit, just got mine today and got it all set up. Just a heads up, I have a space invaders cab, and the included panel that the speakers mount to is about an inch too long and had to use a circular saw to trim it down. Unfortunatly the included audio amplifier broke on me, the sping loaded tabs broke off (three of them) when I tried to insert my speaker wire, so I have no sound :(

I hate to ask, but I am greeting ready to make an order with you, and I dont understand the Test and Service buttons, as they needed? Are those Just for JAMMA boards? I plan on going a few ways, with a few cabs...and I think your set up and Kit for the JAMMA 60 in 1 and the Space Invaders light up buttons kit, will be my first go at it. Could you let me know what those 2 buttons are for, I am super new to this, and just dont understand those 2. Thanks for this video. I just picked up a 60n1 upright (for $500, is that a good deal? Cabinet is in good shape) and by watching how you put it together helped me better understand how the console works. However, I have questions that I am hoping you can help guide me on. I appreciate it. 1) having it in an arcade as oppose to a home makes a huge difference on sound. Some of the games are really loud and I can’t play them while the family is sleeping. 😉 I saw a round yellow knob on the PCB in your video...is that volume control? Does the unit need to be in setup mode to adjust that? Is there a way to add a volume control knob on the outside so that when we are having parties we can turn it up, and when the family is sleeping, I can turn it down to play. 2) I don’t see any setup/test buttons on the outside of my cabinet. Is it possible there are just on the inside somewhere? 3) my P2 button is sticky, is it safe to say it’s the micro switch or the button itself? 4) the down position of the joystick doesn’t really work. Well, it does, but it’s like you need to be in a sweet spot, just left of the down. Thoughts on that? Is it the joystick? Could the micro switches be out of alignment? 5) my cabinet looks like it has an old CRT monitor. Could I technically change it out for a flat screen monitor/TV? Anything additional I would need to run it? 6) to change the graphic wrap on the control panel, is that something your company can do? Is there a way for me to identify the type of cabinet I have so you know measurements? Just curious. I think that is it for now. I appreciate your time on these questions and the educational video.

The audio sounds like it could be better ( only on some games like time pilot for example the audio is horrible ) is this a speaker flaw or an audio problem with that particular game?

@diyretroarcade
@diyretroarcade 4 года назад
Easier to adjust volume. It will work fine without one
@jeffs3917
@jeffs3917 4 года назад
The iCade 60-in-1 provides great sound, and the amp that's built into it works just fine. You not need to add an amp. Just connect the speaker wires from the JAMMA harness directly to your speaker(s). Volume adjust is the only problem, but easily solved. BTW, this board is mono, so two speakers may be prettier, but you only need one. The default volume setting in these boards is set VERY low, and the volume adjust is buried at the back of all the setup screens. After you go page by page thru the settings of all 60 games, the next to last page will be the volume setting. Once you get to it, you can turn up the volume, and it works just fine. (Don't forget to hit S1 to SAVE your new volume setting, or you'll have to go back thru all 60 pages to get back to it again!) But you will hate life if you do not add an external volume knob. Cheap and easy, and it's a cinch to add into the wire that goes to the speaker. The knob can be mounted on the control panel, or the front panel, or sticking out the top panel, or anywhere you like that you can reach it easily; but you just need to put one. And that will make it even easier to adjust the volume than having to reach inside to an added amp.

I highly recommend doing this. Several of the games are hard to maneuver unless you have the joystick precisely at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock position in the 8-way plate setting (Burgertime, pacman games, Donkey Kong, etc). After turning the joystick plate to favor 4-way movement, all of those games now play correctly, and it didn't affect the 8-way movement too badly.

@@diyretroarcade Thank you for confirming! Do you know if the regular game controls/buttons will work after triggering the S2 button on that initial setup page? Or will I have to have all the other S2, S3, etc. Hooked up or triggered as well to move through the menu?

Hello. Your website states that the newest version of the 60 in 1 JAMMA harness can do sound without an amp. Is this true? I'd rather not fiddle around with an amp. Also, how much of what size screws do you need for this? Thanks.

hello friend very good video I just finished my arcade cocktail furniture and I use the same 60-in-1 system, I just needed to add the test and service buttons, since I don't know how they work and I would like to help me understand better when you want to go into mode test first turn on and then press the test button? I guess it's the same for service button? In another video I saw a person who instead of a button put a switch I don't know if this is correct I hope you can help me with my doubts greetings

Two questions... 1. On the 60:1 kit page it lists the LCD board/driver as optional, but it seems it's needed to convert an Arcade1up machine like this, correct? 2. At the very end, once you're in a game and playing, what's the key combination to exit back to the game selection menu?
@diyretroarcade
@diyretroarcade 5 лет назад
1. yes you have to have the LCD driver. Some already have it is why we have as optional. 2. there is no combination, once all our lives are gone it goes back to game selection
