This is the last video of those to support the rod building course that I’m teaching. It’s a super-beginner course so many don’t want to invest in expensive equipment. Enter the DIY Rod Dryer. This is more of a template for you to change a you want. Think of it as a recipe that you can change ingredients and preparation to suit your needs and resources.

loved the video. A question I have is at 2:43 in the video you show your rod in the wrapping jig. Where did you get the roller wheels and what brand. I like this set-up. Thank you for your effort of educating the masses that you don't have to have the high cost store bought to get a job done. Fancy equipment don't make it a better end product.

@ericpierce4510: Thanks! I put that rod jig together almost 25 years ago! The wheels were found at a hardware store - I think they were for sliding closet doors. Then found some O-rings that fit the grooves.

Paul - on that rod wrapper you have on the video - you measure it at the 3:14 mark. Where do you get those wheels with the rubber o-ring on them? I am looking for a source for those wheels/rings .. Thanks in advance. Gus

@bykergus: They are actually wheels for sliding closet doors that I found at Home Depot. You have to buy the orings that fit them separately.

Why not mount the motor lower use several v roller stands and an elastic band or thin large O ring stretch over a pulley mounted on the motor and over the end of the rod handle to drive it

Stevewright5642: There are a myriad of ways to modify this basic design. The direct drive, the simplicity and the cost effectiveness of it are aimed at the beginner who might only build a rod or two. If you want to customize it to suit your personal needs, fill your boots!

@natural mystics-kd9vt: You may want to watch the video again. Starting at the 0:27 mark, I clearly state the source of the specific rotisserie kit used. I also stated that any brand of rotisserie kit could be adapted for this project. Hope that helps.
