I love it. I have a plunge router and I've seen one video using the screw thread but it's a bit slow to wind up and down. I like the bit extension. I had wrestling with 2 spanners all the time. I will definitely use your lift. Thanks.

The Newbie Woodworker Hi Dan, enjoyed the video as usual! Your worldview shines through. Curious about dust collection. Why pull dust from top to bottom? Doesn’t the router motor assembly get clogged? What prevents the hole at the top from working? When you tried the hole at the top:- Did you have a path for clean air to come up from the the bottom and carry the dust into the collector? Keep up the good work!

Great design! I am researching linear motors for another project and this would be the perfect project for a linear motor. Install it under your lift with a 12v power supply and a switch and you could eliminate the lever. These motors are cheap on eBay. Something to consider to enhance your lift. Count me in for a build video! Nice work and I like your videos!

Sorry if this has already been mentioned. I worry that a spiral bit on just the right project might screw itself through the workpiece and into your hand if you don't have a top stop for the lever. As to the use of a lever as opposed to some screw arrangement-- I like it. It's actually better because it's faster and just as precise. Good on you.

@TheNewbieWoodworker
@TheNewbieWoodworker 5 лет назад
Thanks, Bob. But I'll bet you did a better job at that than I would. Those are the kinds of things I'm terrible at. Boxes with square joints, and vague dimensions? That I can handle. Cutting tile to specific dimensions? Only if I could waste one for every one I laid. 😛

@TheNewbieWoodworker 5 лет назад
@@bobnicholas5994 That's so cool! My wife is way smarter than me in some things, and I don't mind admitting it. BTW, I assume you meant she's the "tile" person, and not "gile", or better yet "guile". 😛 As for taking hours deciding which to do, I am *so* right there with you. That's exactly what I do, and in fact, I just realized this morning that it's a benefit (at least for me). If I give myself enough time to think about how to do something, sometimes even days, eventually I latch onto something I never would have thought of before. My mind is like an old Intel 286 processor, and it just takes a while to get there. Oh, and regarding me being precise, it's because I made every single one of the errors I caution about. Who knew that my inability to do things right the first, second, or third time would turn into something useful? Seriously!

@bobnicholas5994 5 лет назад

@TheNewbieWoodworker
@TheNewbieWoodworker 5 лет назад
@@bobnicholas5994 Yeah, isn't it interesting that some people make it look like they never make a mistake? I don't know whether it's intentional or not, but the more I get a look "behind the scenes", the more I realize that some of these things *are* hard, but we figure they make it look so easy, it must just be us who's lacking, and we start devaluing our abilities. If I can ever figure out how to word this, I'll certainly blog about it, and if I can figure out how to shoot it, I'll do a video. We're doing things most people either can't or don't. That's pretty awesome, if you think about it. (Pardon my rambling, but I want to get this out while I'm thinking about it.) Why do you think there's so many jigs and specialty tools on the market? Because there's things that are hard for a lot of people - hard enough that they'll buy a tool for it. Anyway, enough rambling. 🙄😄

What a brillo build and a thumbs up from me for a video build as well. Barry (ENG)

Thanks Barry! "brillo" must be a British word, although it's fairly obvious what it means. But it makes me think of "Brillo Pads", and my voice has been scratchy lately like I swallowed one! 😛
@barryroberts6470
@barryroberts6470 6 лет назад
Ha ha ha does remind me as well of brillo pads, but you are right brillo is just short for brilliant, which is what this build is so well done, and good luck with the throat. Try gargling with salt water, but don't swallow it as you will end up with your head down the loo, or you could just gargle with some mouth wash, take care. Barry (ENG)

Thanks, that's a good idea. No, wait, that's brillo! I'll have to try it. 😛

rchavez 505 I get SDK error when I try to download this. The error window message says it is not an SDK file. I’m trying to download it on my iPad. Thanks for all the very informative videos that you provide. I like being able to download them on SketchUp warehouse

Thanks, but I doubt I'll do a build video of the table. It's construction is fairly ugly. However, there *is* a SketchUp model.
