I moved house in April and I needed a garden shed, unfortunately I couldn’t get enough free wood and other materials so had to buy the materials myself. I built a 12ft x 6ft feather edge shed using 3”x2” rails and 6’ f/e boards (easy figures to work to) I put the floor on pallets (free) osb roof and floor. I am trying out a pond liner on the roof which covers the entire roof with no joints needed not sure how long it will last though. With all the materials it came in around the £300 mark which I think is not too bad for the size of it. I am now going to make a polythene lean to greenhouse on the side of it and see if I can get any free stuff for that. Keep the videos coming I enjoy watching them.

Cheers! I like your thinking. That all sounds good and reasonable to me and all done very cheaply too. The pond liner for the roof lining should last a very long time because I think the main thing that breaks down a pond liner is sunlight. With it being covered up it shouldn't ever see sunlight so it sounds like a good thing to use.

Cheers Karl. It's good fun building outside in the summer I'm glad I got it finished before the autumn comes with all the rain!

Thanks for the videos Phil, as someone who’s fairly young and moved into my first house I’ve always wanted my own mini workshop but couldn’t afford it. I’ll definitely be making my own workshop now, already started hunting for free materials, might take awhile but I’ll get there

Fantastic! You will be amazed what you find thrown out when you start looking around. Tonight I found quite a few packs of laminate flooring put out and they are unopened new. I also found a bench grinder in the box put out for the scrap man. It's been a good weekend for finding stuff not always so good but you never know what you might find.

The way you break down design and tasks and presentation involves a transferrable skill. I spent a decade or so providing woodwork at a small private school, for teenagers who had struggled in mainstream education; really enjoyed it. Your approach would work really well in such a setting. Great series of videos.

Love it Phil. Love stuff made out of recycled materials, and you have proved it’s possible with a virtually zero budget. Brilliant mate.

Thanks Phill, that's absolutely brilliant, and a great contrast to all the big budget man-cave builds on here, it's been an inspiring series ! Wishing your Dad many happy years of pottering in his new(old) shed, I'm sure he's grateful and proud of your achievement !

Hi Phill, I've enjoyed watching this shed build, it been a good project and I bet your Dad is happy with it. 6x4 is a good size for storage and also a good way to fill space up in the garden, the things you can make with unwanted materials. Great video catch you soon Take care

That window using the old coffee table glass was a great idea, and those roofing sheets were a great find. Dad owes you a drink.

Cheers! Yea I had been stockpiling up all the stuff I found for a while ready to make the shed. I was lucky to find those roofing sheets as I was planning on buying them.

Just in the process of doing a shed for my daughter I get my recycled timber from my work place machine packaging and supports some milling to do 🙄

Hi Phil, what would it take to build a 16x8 model railway shed?
@PhillWyattProjects
@PhillWyattProjects 28 дней назад
I built my workshop about 4 years ago which is a 16x8. I used 2 x 3 timbers for the framing and roof. It is quite similar to building a shed like this although you just need a lot more materials and takes a bit longer.

I’m having a new shed/workshop delivered on Saturday that I’ve paid to have the inside wrapped in breathable membrane, I myself will be boarding out the inside using OSB and plywood but will That silver bubble wrap insulation be sufficient as insulation on its own in the cavity or will it need more than just that? The cavity will be 3” deep. Any help from whoever will be appreciated 👍
@PhillWyattProjects
@PhillWyattProjects 28 дней назад
@@garethwatson7999In my 16 x 8 workshop I have the membrane, then the foil bubble wrap, and I have also added some 15mm polystyrene insulation on top. It depends how much you plan on heating the shed when you're in it. I would say that the foil bubble wrap alone is not enough in winter unless you have a heater on quite a bit.
@garethwatson7999
@garethwatson7999 28 дней назад
@@PhillWyattProjectsthat’s what I was thinking of doing, I’ve got access to as much 12mm foam sheets as I want so I think if I add that to the foil Insulation it will be good enough for the uk Wi yet providing I’ve got heaters on hand, yet it will also keep it cooler in the summer. Cheers, great channel 👍
