I have watched many videos about the self-binding baby blanket. You are the first to mention the 'warp and weft' of fabrics and the better wear they receive from matching the fabrics. Thank you for that! Also, you're the first I've seen to mention pressing the blanket once the fabrics are put together before sewing the corners. Truly makes a ton of difference. The you for your videos!

I just want to say your Donation Drive is a wonderful initiative. As an adopted person who did myself spend time in Foster Care before adoption I am one hundred percent in support of this worthwhile and kind initiative. Now to your video this was very nice, and your instructions and explanations were both reassuring and informative. I did originally make this blanket about a year ago in flannel just after I started to learn to sew. Cutting and measuring are key to end result as well as pressing. I then made it using Minky which was challenging but for a first time sewer it did turn out okay. Now with a year of sewing under my belt and far more experience in cutting fabric and being mindful of sewing on your lines and measuring I going to make more of them for my new Grandbaby coming this fall. Thank you again for giving me the confidence to just go for it. A huge supporter of your video and initiative from the Rocky Mountains of Canada.

@@staceyleecreative Right ! It’s what I have for a child blanket. But I was thinking, what if I spray baste batting on the backing part BEFORE turning the inside out. Like… sew it, iron it, baste the batting using spray, turn it inside out carefully, maybe iron again and quilt it with straight lines using the walking presser foot. Maybe I will try with a small one, like a table center piece just out of curiosity.

Hello from Washington state. Well I attempted and I came out awful. It came out looking like a possible big cushion cover. Lol OMGoodness I’m hilarious. I will attempt it again soon. Sad😢😮
@staceyleecreative
@staceyleecreative Год назад
Oh no! I am sorry! I suggest you check the corners before you cut them. You must have measured from the raw edge and not the fold. When you check you will see it looks like it should for the finished blanket, but if not, it does like a box corner for a cushion cover 🙄 Please don't let it put you off, and try again. You could save the larger piece of fabric and use that for the smaller piece maybe.

Love your tutorials. Would you happen to have a video on making comfort blankets for Hospice patients??? I know you could take these baby tutorials and just make them bigger, but I’m more of a visual learner. Thank you so much for your donation of your TIME in making these videos. God Bless.

You are perfect a teaching this and the little blankets are precious. I am a new sewer and am also about to become a grandmother next month. I recently bought a bunch of Omnigrid rulers at a flea market. One is 20 1/2 sq. and one is 15 1/2 square. I hope I can use these since my entire work space is only my dining room table. Thank you again!!!

Hi Stacey! This is the best video I've ever seen on the self-binding blanket. I love the way you explain everything and are so thorough. I've never heard about the warp and weft matching on the pieces..... this is great information. Thank you so much! Love watching your videos.

Enjoyed the tutorial. I have made these and I donated mine to the church. My trick to line up the sides according to the center is to use the scissors to make little slits or triangles in the center. It's easier to pin and the middles are pinned neatly together. It's easier to find the middles if there was a mistake. They are useful, even after the baby is bigger. They are useful for nursing mothers as a shawl and can be worn as a shawl. I normally use different coloured fabric with different designs. It's such a cosy and warm gift. Happy sewing.

Thank you so much Stacey, I really really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful and unique baby blanket. I love the idea of stitching 🧵 each side of the mitre which finishes it off perfectly. And the pressing is so very very important, and it makes the whole blanket look so very professional and it’s something I learnt when I was a green sewer and I’ve never forgotten it. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤ I’ve got two Juki machines and I really like the look of that foot.

Quick question: Could this be done with a very thin "warm and natural" batting between the fabrics or would the corners be too hard to do? Thank you!
@staceyleecreative
@staceyleecreative Год назад
HI, I am not sure there is a really thin batting? It would be worth a try, worst case you just unpick the stitches and redo without.
