DIY Simple Vinyl Record Player

Did you know that you can read all vinyl records by standart needle and piece of paper?
So, in today's video I want to show you how to make simplest turntable or vinyl record player. You need needle, paper, cardboard, electric motor, battery, dc motor speed controller, plywood and one rubber band. Follow instructions from this video and you will build simplest record player!

For anyone considering doing this: Don't use a regular needle, use a gramaphone needle. Unless you're not using valuable records, of course.

@@kingding9542 yea but for demonstration purpose its bether to use a regular needle for this purpose, so that someone not knowing how it works can see, that theres no "magic" behind it. If its a gramaphone needle he migjt think its a"magic" needle or he might think this is a needle that is so special, that it wont work at all with a normal needle, cause he doesnt understand the principle fully. And in this case, to proof that it basically works with any needle this is very good.

In our old gramaphone record players there were no amplifiers and speakers sound was reproduced in this way. In a good sense this is a best attempt. With the same you can make dynamic pickup.

it actually is fine if you use older vinyls from the 40s and before because they were made of materials designed to withstand the wear and tear of an needle due to the fact they were played in gramophones which work using this same principal

@@KingVictrola Sewing needles don't wear your records. just don't use oversized tiped sewing needle. I used push pins as a phonograph needle and they do not wear my records.

You don't have to have speakers, all you need is the needle to be stuck on the paper cone. Also if you don't know yet it can damage a record so use a record you don't care about.

@@TheSilvax Actual needles for records are designed to fit well and run along the record correctly, using a random nail or sewing needle will destroy it, it's imperfect and not designed for the record

Tracking force, any decent Turntable has a counterweight which only let's the needle excert a certain amount of downwards force onto the record (adjustable) typically between 1g upto 3grams depending on cartridge specifications, this hasn't got any counterbalanceing mechanism... Way to much weight on the record with this one servere damage to the record
