I know this has nothing to do with you but that staining sponge when I worked in a furniture shop we used to use those to apply the stain not take the stain off will used rags to take the excess stain off the sponge to apply it I don't know if this helps you but they apply very evenly

Fyi, that appliance you painted is called a range hood, the range itself is the combo stove /oven unit directly below.

I like how you're very open about how it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg to update a space! We updated our bathroom for $250 & it looks so transformed! My husband thought it would be so expensive so he kept putting it off but I'm happy we finally dove in. Also in my kitchen I'd love to do those peel n stick tiles, that is such a great idea! 2 hours?! I can totally handle that- real tiling...not so much! The produce drawers are so incredibly nice too! Thanks for sharing 😉

Megan, you saved me! I just finished painting all my kitchen cabinets, a color very similar to yours. Our kitchens are also very similar. I could not decide what backsplash to get, I was going crazy. Love the way you are using peel and stick. Makes everything look great without spending all your money. Never heard of stainless steel paint. So excited.

Hi Megan, I didn't see any comments about this here so as a former assistant to a handyperson, most all of the blades for utility knives are made to snap apart to give you a new edge. You extend the blade so that the scored (slice part of the way through) and use a pair of pliers to snap off the section at the end, obviously wearing protective gloves. I use leather lineman's gloves. Obviously eye protection is suggested too, because sometimes the little edge goes flying. You did a wonderful job.

Oh my gosh! That peel n stick subway looks amazing. It’s so shiny and pretty! I am currently doing a wallpaper subway tile I got from Target in my kitchen and it’s a pain in the booty ha ha I wish I would have known about your peel n stick. I loved the makeover!

You can always return it to Target, even if it’s opened they will accept the return 💜 I highly recommend the product that I used!

This all looks so good! Really like the transformation of the vent hood. I agree it doesn’t look like real stainless steel, but it is so close in color to your cabinets it works perfectly to blend it in with your appliances! The white really stood out against the cabinets and the other appliances. And the backsplash is awesome! I have ceramic tile as our backsplash - matches the tile in the floor but is a small 6” X 6” whereas the floor tile is 20” X 20”, and the backsplash is on the diagonal. But I’m thinking the peel and stick would be great for our bathroom which is in great need of a makeover! Thanks so much for sharing!

Love the subway tile I have the same kind I ordered a couple months ago waiting for the new cabinets and counters to go in before I can put it up I was going to paint my cabinets in white but my husband and the paint guy talked me into gray but I went with a very light gray kinda glad I did I love your gray with the white back splash

I love the look you've created - it looks like a calm space. I really loved the tea and coffee station. As well as everything is in one area the greenery and brown looks like a calm nature space. I also love the fruit basket.

I love!! The backsplash made such a difference!! I never would've thought changing the vent hood color would make such a difference but it pulled it all together! Maybe in the future you could add some Greenery on top of the cabinets! Michaels is having huge sales currently everything is like 40-60% off of all of their florals and most decor!

Megan, this is literally unbelievable. I’m speechless. Best video I’ve ever seen on a RU-vid! And your voice is always so soothing. I’ve been waiting to see when/where you’d use that Hobby Lobby piece that you waited for for so long...looks beautiful with the potatoes and onions inside. The Been There sigh looks amazing and I love that Kinsley put her precious touch on this project. Wow. Just wow!

If you use a spray can of high gloss clear coat on the exhaust hood (or range hood, whichever you prefer to call it) over the stainless steel paint it will closer match the gloss of the stove below making it look less like a painted surface. Bonus, it also makes cleaning it easier and there is no ware on the paint from amount of cleaning that appliance needs.

This turned out amazing one thing I would suggest is take your outlet plate covers off and then put them back on after you do it because it will give you more of a finished Edge and your edges are protected underneath the plate covers.

I bought a marble contact paper for my counters. I also have some peel and stick tiles I want to use for a backsplash. I’m afraid to try it out and it not come out right! Thanks for the inspiration Megan! I know it’s going to look amazing 😉
