It would have worked and looked better if you had inserted the water shoes inside the suit. Secure the the shoes by stapling from the bottom. Then purchase rubber replacement soles, cut them to precisely fit the bottoms and glue them on.

For anyone that watched and wants to know how to glue the sides u can take the boots off and use those black paper clips
