IN this Part we will be making Relay and Fuse Panel for the switch pod to control the accessories for your jeep wrangler 2011-2015
in this video I will how to make your own DIY spot "Switch Pod" to control your accessories from one location.
sPOD is one of the best best product that was created, Unfortunately not everyone can afford this, thats why someone started to make their own sPOD inexpensively.
This DIY sPOD doesn't cost a lot and does the same job as the one sold for 100s of dollars.
This design is not my design, check the video where I credited the person and the forum I got the idea from.
SO I do not take any credit for the design, installation Idea is mine and I came up with my own..so Only credit i would take is to make the process simple and made it easier for everyone to understand and make their own and of course the installations.

This worked perfectly! I skipped the 50 amp circuit breaker and 8 guage wire as I have no interest in putting a top-of-windshield-lightbar on. I switched this out to using a 30amp inline fuse. Only running low watt LED cubes so I should be ok. Also installed this with the Rugged Ridge A Pillar switch pod. Thanks for the detailed videos. Best out there to date!

hey sunny, thanks for this tutorial I have been trying to figure out how to wire all my accessories up in my truck and was lost. Have never wired up stuff in my trucks before. so all my lights and accessories are in my closet while I'm pulling out my hair to figure out what to do. this really helps. I do not have a jeep but this is the same basic concept to use. Just have to fabricate a panel to hold my switches in my 2001 Tahoe (zombie outbreak response vehicle) lol. I will have to do two of these though I have 8 accessoriesin my closet to hook up so far but will do one for now and the next one in a few months. Thanks again brother this is a life saver I was so worried about creating a fire hazard.

I have the Bussman relay box 15303-5 - a number of switches send a ground signal to activate the relay (vs a + trigger) - is there a way to trigger the a / or some relays (pin 86) on the 15303-5 using a ground signal ?

Where is the cheapest place i can buy the bussmann. Why did you choose that option instead of the other ones. I notice how some have one hole, and then two holes, and then yours. What is the difference. How much did you pay for shipping from waiktekwire..??

Love this three video series. I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I am looking to build this for my self, I was actually looking to build two of them. I was wondering if you guys know where i could get a bigger box to hold the relays and such. right now i am looking for something with a total of 11 or 12 switches. I have the inside switch placement figured out but I am trying to figure out how to add on to the box's you made, or make a single bigger box. to get the right amount of switch relays i would need. any help would be GREAT! thanks, Jordan
@5sunny01
@5sunny01 8 лет назад
Hey Jordan Thank you for the comment, you can get a bigger relay panel from the same company, I believe it holds 10 relays, or you can make two or as many panels as you like and combine them. Process would be the same as this one just more relays. I hope this helps, if you need more help feel free to contact. I will see if I can find the link for the panel and I will keep you posted. Best and good luck

Great Video, you make it very easy and understandable for us less "Electronically inclined" types. I have a question for you, this set up is for 5 relays (switches), how would the process continue if I wanted to have 8 switches? it seems obvious, but it might not be, and I hate assuming, we all know what that means. Thanks again for the great vid.

Hey Sunny, awsome video. I haze ZERO wiring experience but I think with your video walkthroughs I could probably figure it out. Tell me this though, what makes this specific to the 11-15 year models? Why would this not work for 07-10? Just the dash panel you chose?
@5sunny01
@5sunny01 8 лет назад
Hey buddy, actually this can and will work for any vehicle or any year. Only reason I put the year bracket, is because the lower dash panel I'm using in part 2 is specific to Jeep Wrangler models 11-15. I believe 07-10 there is a similar panel available by day star with 4 switches only. Also anyone can use this with any type of vehicle. It's not only limited to Jeep Wrangler. Also there are many other companies they make the switch panels, such as pillar switch panel and etc. Let me know if I can help you further and I would be happy to assist u:) and good luck and Subscribe for a new upcoming led series :)

Watched several times. Fixing to order parts and dive in. Two questions. 1: Did you cover all the empty slots with silicone or the whole back? The top has a cover but not the bottom. You said you were going to but didn't see in any of the videos. 2: Could you use the other 5 empty slots to power some low power accessories like maybe some interior floor led's? If so do you just add another Red wire to connect both sides then a fuse for that spot?
@5sunny01
@5sunny01 8 лет назад
Hey Thomas, thank you for the comment. I used silicon in only the empty holes only. But before using the silicon I still used the seals in the empty holes, I hope this helps....also for the other 5 slots I would say you still need the relays in order for you to use those slots...this unit only has 5 relays space so you can use only 5 switches with this panel. If you want to use more than 5 bussman makes a bigger panel than 5, check that out as well if you like. I hope this may help. Let me know if I can be at any further help to you. Good luck!

Sunny, Thanks for the great videos. I am hoping you can help me. I did it exactly (I think) as the videos told me to do it. I have power going to the fuse box but, no power going to the fuses themselves. My wires FROM my switches have power but no accessories work. From what I can tell, the power stops at the leads on the fuse box. I put my relays in "backwards" as per your instructions. It was REALLY hot yesterday here in South Florida so I stopped working on it after about an hour of troubleshooting. Any suggestions? I did test all of the outgoing wires and my voltmeter is reading 0.00
@Flyboy-ww7og
@Flyboy-ww7og 7 лет назад
As you have this relay box wired, the blade fuses are between the relay and the accessory, right? I see you have 5 open blade fuse sockets, can these slots be used to run hot wires to other accessories which don't require a relay, i.e. CB Radio, Scanner, etc?
@5sunny01
@5sunny01 7 лет назад
John Purdie hey thanks for the comment, I haven't tried it but yes you are right those lines are hot, so I would assume you can use them as a inline fuse, what I will do try this out this week and I will get back to you :)

Hey Mike, there is other possible ways to wire it, then you will have to put the relay different ways as well...in this as you can see the writing on the relay is upside down when I'm putting those in....so if you do wire them differently make sure u install the relays correctly :) I hope this helps

To make it little simpler here is the specification data sheet of the relay: read that as well so it can make it clear for you www.waytekwire.com/datasheet/46343.pdf To be simpler and clearer and you can see in the data sheet also, input on relay side max is 80A and for output is 30A ....I hope this helps...read the data sheet and trust me you will be fine

That will be my question..do you think a 10 awg wire from relay to LED 150 watt will be more than enough and most important safe..I got everything down except the mentality of AM I DOING IT WRONG? thanks for all your help..

+instinct022 hey buddy, 16 gauge is more than sufficient from switches to the panel, however if you want to use 14 that should be ok too. For the 150 watts led, you should be ok with10 gauge. I'm running a 300 watts of led bar with 12 gauge wire and it's perfectly and I havnt had any issues.... Just one thing...don't use cheap eBay wires...buy wires from reputable company or local electrical suppliers and check the reviews before you buy. Also buy the wires those are true gauges. Normally the led bars such as 50 inch uses the most power so you only need big gauge wire such as 10-12 awg for those types of lights.... Good luck and keep me posted and send some pics :)

Hi Sunny, great video. I have watched it several times as well as read the forum build by Hooz and found a few discrepancies between your two builds. I tried sending you a private message but I do not see where you accept them on your "about". How can I get in touch with you to get a few questions answered?

can I just use 16 gauge wire ?
@5sunny01
@5sunny01 7 лет назад
Jennifer Clark hi Jennifer, you can use 16 gauge for smaller accessories, however for he main wire you want to use minimum 12 gauge. Also if you will be using light bars(300w) then absolutely go with the higher gauge. Or your wire will start to melt.

If I am only installing only one set of lights right now do I just need one relay but can I install all 5 for later use? Also if I am running a wire from the fuse box to my light that is at the back of my FJ should I use a 12 gauge wire?
@5sunny01
@5sunny01 7 лет назад
Jennifer Clark hey Jennifer, so yes you can install all the relays now and follow exactly as you see in the video...I have done the same thing. Right now I am only running two lights..but all my relays and switches are installed and ready to be hooded up if needed. Soon I will make a video to show how to connect lights or accessories. For the wire from relay panel to the light, it all depends on the watts...like for 300 watts bar in running a 12 gauge wire, but for 27 watt lights I m using 16 gauge wire. I hope this helps.

It doesn't make any sense to use 12 guage wire from fuse to relay then use 16 guage to go out to your accessories. The way this set up works is the switch activated the relay. The power goes through the fuse then the relay to the accessory. If you have to have 12 guage from fuse to relay or it could melt then you need 12 guage from relay to accessory for the same reason otherwise 16 guage the entire route from fuse to accessory is fine.

If you are going to spend the money on the panel & pins, buy the proper crimpers as well. There's no reason to solder those & no benefit from doing so.

No sorry, but there are some people online are making and selling these....but super expensive....it's not that hard if you just follow the directions it's pretty simple and won't take long at all. Try it :) I'm here if you need any help

That is so much DIY then how to do it.. you don't cut wire outer part to fit it smaller seal.. never.. you don't solder connectors to wires, cos you need to use right one crimp tool.. ffs.
