My own DIY 4000E 24 channel analog "mixing console" in action.
82E149 preamp/line card
82E242 "black knob" eq and filters card
82E010 classic dynamics section card
24 identical channels going through RME UFX usb interface with 2 additional RME AD/DA converters. 26 mono fx loops total (last two for master stereo bus)
This project based on SSL service manual circuits for my recording studio needs only.

@@TwstedTV Schematics aren't hard to find - but what would be massive would be the gerber files. Hand etching those boards would be damn near impossible. A gerber file is the equivalent of sending a PDF of to get printed - you could order 1 or 100 of them and start soldering. I for one would LOVE to get my hands on the 82e10 dynamics card. Did you use 1537A VCA's on the channel dynamics?

It seems like you've recreated the basic strips, and left out the routing matrix (the RME and patchbay can handle that) and center console functions.. I take it VCA is also absent in this build - are you planning on adding the bus compression circuit in the future? Phenomenal work nonetheless.

I think you and me are the only ones insane enough to try my console build challenge. Use old console modded heavily. Switchable eqs and pre amps. Digital converter included to make it hybrid. Rack unit for a few things and clones of original various console parts like compression noise gates eqs or pre amps. Multi bay console. But one fully digital fully analog. Rack mount and converter helping it be hybrid. And sound like a few different consoles or close enough at once.

@Timetofly8888
@Timetofly8888 7 месяцев назад
I think if he were to sell it, he might be getting a visit from SSL's lawyers, as technically if he's followed the service schematics circuits to the letter and given he's posted online this is technically a "clone" in circuit design, SSL might be justified in getting emotional at the theft of their Intellectual Property and not to mention the reference to the SSL Trademark when selling the consoles. It would be a bad bad bad idea to offer this project for sale anywhere and I'm actually surprised that even posting this video online hasnt earned him some kind of Cease and Desist letter from SSL in the event this video is monetized.

what would the selling price be on this console?
@mrdali67
@mrdali67 Год назад
@@e.apollis2877 I don't think you can put a price on it. It would propably cost you more to get him to put a system together than buying eg a used SSL pult, even he has a finished design how to put it together. You would propably also need some kind of agrement with SSL to be able to sell a custom build pult based on their hardware. I remember dreaming of buying a Wersi organ back in the early 80's. They were sold both as preassembled and as DYI kits for like half the price. Until I realiced how much soldering was required to put all the different sound, filter and voice boards together, and hearing how many organs they had to repair for people who thaught they could manage to solder some 10-20.000 of components with basic soldering skills and no equipment or skills to to measure and diagnose why it doesn't work. The DIY part quickly died cause it was just a way too big project for people with limited tech knowledge to take on compared to the fairly small projects people could get from stores or read how to do yourself from HiFi and electronics magazines. I do really respect people that do this kind of projects, but even you buy the cards pre assembled this is not for prople that just had a basic introduction to electronics from school or some kind of courses. I would think that the components used is for trained technicians that is used to work with this kind of gear in a professional Studio environment with custom designed pults for their specific needs. I would also like to see a video myself how this was put together and how much work it required 😘
