I use a combustible mixture: Paraffin oil, smell and smoke free, slow-burning, non-flammable (flash point at 85° C)
The valve is filled with glue, you never in its life can not open, even the biggest key what you can find (This is for those who are afraid someone will open the valve)

Shiny is beautiful. Great idea for using brass fittings. I shine all brass in my tumbler using corn cob media and Autosol metal polish. Now . . . off to the plumbing dpartment. Thanks.

Great Lamp, now I know what to do with all my leftover fittings. Sooo Cool. You could use plugs in the 90s so the valve still opens and closes and it will still be stable

Would using carbon felt rolled up and placed in the tubes with carbon felt wicks connecting the different rolls of carbon felt in each tube section to each wick used to burn then add alcohol or heat rather then oil allow the lamp to be used for lighting and for cooking? Could make an interesting new tool for camping or to have in a bug out bag.

Hey nice vid, just built one of my own! I was wondering if there was anything i need to do to the wick before I light it, and also whats the best way to put out the flame when I'm done? On a side note, i would suggest adding a shopping list of items in your videos or descriptions because I found it very difficult to think of the exact items I needed, and I had to keep watching the video in the store lol.

At least one Item looks custom machined. The part that holds the wicks themselves. You could make something similar to it by tapping off the shelf pieces, but it wouldn't look as polished.

great video and idea ! One problem i see though , how do you extend the wick when it gets burnt below the top of the fitting ?
@hawg1barksdale
@hawg1barksdale 6 лет назад
You don't burn the wick that far down before you pull it up with your fingers, or remove the fitting and push it up more. Use glass wick and you won't have to worry about it.
