this is all well and good but this card does not work if NFC is turned off on your phone, from my first impression I bought such a card and started to check, ALL! My acquaintances had NFC turned off and when they turned it on, some had a phone case that also interfered with scanning the card.
Finally someone who actually tried to use NFC with a v-card and stated the Apple restriction upfront. Thank you so much. What a gotcha. I’ve been fighting this for some time. I wanted to put a vcard on a small NFC tag and put the tag inside the case of my iPhone so people could just tap the back and done. I guess I’ll also have to glue a QR code on the back also so when the link is down. Thanks again.
AMEN! I’ve been trying over and over and didn’t realize why I’m sending a contact but its unreadable. You sure as heck can’t Google it. Nothing comes up!
Phenomenal pacing throughout the video. When you described the problem you encountered, it’s as if you were reading my mind! Thank you for this informative video
I haven't tried setting up yet. I find I gain more if I first just watch the video the first time through. With that said, I appreciate the sincerity and direction provided. And that you made me laugh
iPhone does read the 'SMS' and 'Phone number' options in NFC tools, so instead of sending them to a contact card the nfc notification can pop up to call or text you. This wouldn't share info other than your number though. If you choose SMS, you can specify the message so you can add info there, in the initial message. The NFC tag I have allows you to write multiple records, so I've added the contact first, then the SMS option. On android it picks up the contact card, on iPhone it picks up the SMS record; like they read the first record they can and stop there, allowing this fall back option. I've only tested this on my iPhone and an old android phone though.
I have watched so many videos about this subject... and the inly thing I can say is that this video is by far the best!! Thank you so much for this easy, cool and cheap advice! You rock! You just got a new subscriber! Greetings from Berlin, Germany! :D
I just watched an ad for one of those NFC business cards wanting $80 to do away with carrying around business cards and just carry one with an NFC chip. Stupid thing was they were sponsoring a LTT video so they're not really targeting the less tech-savvy of us that would fall for such a scam. At first I thought it was a kind of neat idea, then after watching their video on how it worked I became sceptical that it was even relevant with everyone already carrying around an NFC chip in their phone, why would they need to carry a second. After a quick search I came across your video and learn it can be done for nearly nothing.
Great video. I liked the step by step instructions. You are the only one I've seen showing it like that. I was getting frustrated by iPhone couldn't read the contacts from NFC tools when it had to read a URL file. Thanks so much my friend. I gave you a like and subscribed to your channel.
You can save a step by writing the saved vcf on your iPhone file system by clicking “share to iCloud” / “view only by people with link”. Send it to yourself (ie. imessage). Open imessage. Long click/copy. You just copied the url to your vcf on internet with security enabled. Update the nfc tools url (make sure you erase/format your card first).
I have a conference coming up and was looking at a way to update my business cards. But as soon as I saw these “forever business cards” being advertised I immediately ran to RU-vid to figure out how to program them myself, haha
Thanks for your he comment… but do check out my updated video which maybe helpful as well.. good luck ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gbZDTGqoVks.html
I have a question, how to make the link to the vcf file works also in android? I tried in android, but it becomes downloading file, but won't open the file automatically.
This video is awesome!!! I was almost about to buy a V1CE card until I thought..."hmmmm I wonder if I can just make my own?" quick question...I have a 3D printer and was wondering if I printed a small cover for an NFC sticker and attached it to the back of my phone would that work just the same??
No… the scanning iPhone needs connection… the url is not linked to the iPhone of the new acquaintance… but to the URL of the contact which is hosted on the internet somewhere… good luck
If you're in business and you can't afford $20 to $120. That is no good. Lol Thanks for video. I paid $80 for mine. Had no idea it was that easy. My 14yr old son has a business, I am going have him do this
Hey man.. thanks for this osm information.. a honest guide.. I really like your video. Can you plz tell us if we use hosting service what exactly we need to put there ? As some of us already hv a website we can get a link easily.. do we need to put tht file in the server with the link ?..thanks again for this informative video
Love the video , but even with the dropbox link there is no way to actually directly save the contact to your iphone contacts. Please correct me if i'm wrong..
@@honestview it's the model number ... but yes it is relative to the size. you can also use the NTAG213 but I just had NTAG215 in hand because of making amiibo ... good luck
Hi! I was amazed how easy is to create a cool "traditional" gadget with a business card. I was wondering if is possible to have 2 nfc stickers one for android and one for iphone so you are covered on both OS?
Hi there! Firstly, AMAZING video! Secondly, I would love to ask you how am I able to use something different than Dropbox in order to store my contact card, I’m thinking some website. How am I able to store the customer’s contact information in a website and letting THEM edit their profiles. Thank you, and once again great video!
I made an updated video here that addresses your questions ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gbZDTGqoVks.html please check it out!! Good luck!!
Yeah I agree .. I only used Dropbox because I needed a place to place the VCF file … so I addressed this in my follow up video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gbZDTGqoVks.html please check it out!! Thanks for checking out my video!
It doesn't work as it should... The potential clients you meet, have different phones, not only iPhone. I've done it exactly as you explained, but when tested the card with an Android phone, without a Dropbox app and account, it doesn' performed as simple as in your video... First we were prompted to install the dropbox app, then it prompted the link to download, the we had to click the downloaded vcf file... A lot af steps. Should we have two nfc cards, one for potential clients with iphone and one card for those with android? Is there a solution for just one card for all the phones? Thanks
Have you tried to take a look at my updated video on this topic. The original video is really old... and only uses dropbox because at the time it was the easiest I can see someone without a webserver. But the new video provided few alternatives. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gbZDTGqoVks.html good luck!!
Hey, I really liked your video, just had a quick question. Once you follow the pop up to the Dropbox location of the file/contact, is it directly saved to your phones contacts?
Thanks for the encouragement on the video.. as for your question… you can save it to your phone by clicking on the box with an up arrow … good luck and thanks again!!!
Min, are there any changes on iOS 15.1 that allow you to read an NFC card as it should? Moreover, when you did the trick with Dropbox is it possible to save the vcf file in your contacts?
it should be pretty easy... just put the .vcf file in a public access location and you should be good. it is a bit more tricky if you are using wordpress and if you want to do it directly from wordpress.
What are the other devices?? Auto detection for NFC is only on 11 and up iPhone 10 will need to use the build in nfc scanner under control center.. good luck
Wow thanks for the fast reply! I have an Apple se 2nd gen, and the other devices are iPhone 8’s. I will try to use an external app and see if that works
@@masondavid8398 you don’t have to use a 3rd party app … but look for the nfc tag reader under your control center in settings… good luck!! And thanks for your support of my videos!!
Thanks, sorry for all the questions but I’m not able to get the tag to show the contact information is there still a way to do it in nfc tools without Dropbox?
thanks for sharing. just curious... I noticed a lot of videos out there that needs to be online in order to be able to share a nfc business card.. is there one that can be done offline?
Very helpful. I'm wondering. Since you ahve it linked to your dropbox. You can change that contact info at any time, correct? Or would you need to create a new file and make sure it's saved as the same exact name so the link is the same?
Yes.. you can change the contact info at anytime. I used dropbox in this video simply because not everyone has access to a webserver or a webhost. but yes, you can change the contact info and make it the same name as before and all your contacts will be updated.
