My friends say it's really nice to hug me when I'm wearing this jacket 🐻 thank you for 600k!! Looking forward to what's ahead, tell me your holiday plans!! Or what you'd pick from Fashionary if you could get anything?

I'm visiting family for the holidays. There is so much to chose from at Fashionary, I really love purses and bags and would definitely chose the bag designs.

I am planning to spend a lot of time with my family and my boyfriend, and a lot of time doing only things I want to do (no work! yay! ^-^) I am so stoked to get one of the fashionairy sketchbooks for womens clothing! that is exactly what I've been looking for for the longest time! I really like sketching out ideas, but anatomy is not my strength...

Fluffeh! Thank you for all the wonderful ideas especially the lining and sketching part. I basically gave up on fur after making my wedding dress shrug. It was a struggle sewing the thing for all the reasons you mentioned that I ended up using fabric glue in some places (so not recommended) LOL. Holiday plans - rest, family, and 1st wedding anniversary. :)

withwendy so with the old jacket did you make patterns out of that to make the teddy jacket and did you use that old jacket to put inside of the teddy jacket ????

I am visiting my daughter in Louisiana. She had a baby last week.👶 I couldn't see the people in the sketchbook in this video, but I have seen them. It was helpful for me to see the sketches.👍 I have a very orange piece of faux fur from a thrift store. I think this will make a great project.😀 I love the pockets too!🌟Thank You.

I don't think you mentioned it in the video, but when cutting faux fur, cut from the wrong side! This helps keep you from cutting the actual fur itself.

What I love about this is how you used the wool coat as lining and inner shell, so that it will actually provide warmth seeing faux fur isn't as warm as real fur.

So cute! I never though of just making a shell for an existing jacket; it would make a great Chewbacca costume! (lol). (Oh, and quick tip for faux fur, if you throw your cut pieces in the dryer for a bit before you start sewing with them, they won't shed as much. You just have a ton of lint in the lint trap, but that's not as bad as having it all over everything else.)

Its difficult to explain but you can sew the sleeve ends by pulling the sleeve through a hole in the jacket body. sew it shut with the machine and pull it back in. Thats the way i learnt it in school. Sorry if its lacking explanation :(
@TheFashionWHT
@TheFashionWHT 6 лет назад
Coco Stardust by any chance you have a video or a link on how to do that? I think I get what you mean, but just wondering how you would be able to pull the second sleeve through the jacket?? lol it would be nice to see a visual of this explanation if you have one
@TheFashionWHT
@TheFashionWHT 6 лет назад
Unless you mean you turn the fur jacket inside out then sew the lining jacket on the inside...? idk if I'm explaining that right lol but it was a technique I used on a jacket I made last year but I personally wish I had added the lining before adding the zipper and collar of the jacket lol
@eiszapfenkobold
@eiszapfenkobold 6 лет назад
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rIACml9tlRM.html here i found a video on that term. Of course fur makes it a bit more difficult. A bit of a struggle sewing lining inside out but if one has mastered it in brain its cooler to sew....i guess :P
@TheFashionWHT
@TheFashionWHT 6 лет назад
Coco Stardust thank you! that was a great video like I gasped out loud when she showed the finished product lol!! I'm sure with the fur, you would need to lay the fur down to expose the...idk what it's called lol but yeah it may be difficult but idk. it's always worth a shot to try
@eiszapfenkobold
@eiszapfenkobold 6 лет назад
yeah i thought that too....or maybe for further jacket projects. Changing damaged lining is a thing for that technique too. Without ripping the whole lining of you can reach the sleeves.

Not only do you cut faux fur from the wrong side, but use a scalpel or single sided razor blade. I still have 2 of the blades my Mother used which makes them at least 50yrs old and ironically made in USA and other than made in USA there is no makers mark on either. I live in Northern Ireland, but I know they were bought in Scotland before we moved here in 1965! If you use that method you will have very little shedding at all. My Mother was a skilled seamstress, she also worked in a Tailors. In those days she worked with real fur. Mind you, she wouldn't wear it and didn't particularly like to work with it, but it was her job, in those days you couldn't pick and choose what items to make or alter as it was definitely the customer who counted. Try it, I guarantee it works a treat. Let me know anyone who does?
