If using CPU fan to cool down your tank is not your thing and you prefer something more sophisticated, why not try building your own DIY thermoelectric Peltier chiller.

However, I do not recommend if your aquarium is 2 feet and above. I would suggest to get a conventional compressor chiller instead.
Note: This video is merely for educational purposes, I am not responsible if the outcome of your project is not ideal as there many external factors that can affect the effeciency of the chiller.
Following are the items required to make this project:
1. Thermoelectric cooling peltier (I used two peltiers, TEC-12715 and TEC-12706)
2. Aluminium Cooling block
3. CPU heatsink & CPU fan
4.Thermal grease/paste
5. Power Supply DC 12V 30A
6. Digital temperature controller
7. Wiring / skru / bolt and nut / hose clip
8. Arcrylic Base plate
9. 10mm hose connectors
10. 8-10mm hose
11. Bracket stainless steel
12. DC motor pump
13. Insulator (made from EVA foam)
