For the lamp, you could've traced the leather from the lamp onto the contact paper to have it wrap perfectly. The tray was a beautifully creative idea, though.

Perhaps applying it slightly diagonally (extra length at the bottom/or top for allowance) , and then wrapping around could have given a smoother application.

I loved that desk and was sad you didn't pick it up. You could have repainted it and used it as an accent table

Id have turned it into a low tv stand. I would have cut the legs down to maybe 10 inches, lightly sanded the whole thing, and painted it matte charcoal, then go over the charcoal with a satin furniture wax. Then put flat leather loops as the drawer pulls.

Sadly... Thrifting is SO expensive where I live. I'm from Germany and Second Hand / Vintage stuff sometimes costs more than new furniture

^^^ id rather get it free on the curb than pay anything for it from the thrift store! Drive around the day or two before trash day and look for things u can clean & flip! Ppl throw away they craziest stuff! Ur saving room in a landfill

If you are living in a bigger City you can find things on the street. But it's not allowed to do this. We have to order a special trashservice to get rid of these things. And the most Secondhand furniture you can get is at eBay marketplace. So, not that easy to get good stuff cheap.

Yeah or I could see like a mustard yellow, a dark emerald green or a dusty orange looking great with it as well. Only thing is that the marble paper looks cool toned so have to be careful with the undertones of the shade.

I am glad you included your trial and error issues with the trunk. As well as the back of the lamp not matching the marble pattern. A lot of DIY channels just hide their mistakes but then you follow their steps and you make the same mistakes that they never warned you about. Honesty is always better!

THE $20 DESK - are you kidding? It's amazing! I love the wooden tray, and THANK YOU for cutting off the handles. They made it look like a rolling pin dough bowl. I wish you'd purchased the desk.

Art school nerd here....when spraying start off the object and go onto the object using wide sweeping back and fourth motions. Smoother, more even spray paint finish.

Loved everything. I'm actually redoing an antique travellers trunk, it has drawers, and coat hangers in it. I did it years ago in a shabby type style, but now I'm changing my decor into a girly, Victorian, Gothic style. I think I'll pull mine apart like you did. Thank you for the advice 👍🖤🖤

hey a tip for contact paper useage is to use a hair dryer to help shape the contact paper onto the lamp just a friendly tip I learned from the sorry girls :)

Great job on all 3 projects !!! I have done a trunk before. The reward of removing the hardware is worth the patience it takes. I had a piece of glass cut to fit the top of mine....DEFINITELY worth doing that. I also did add casters to the bottom....6" hairpin legs would also work well. The tray looked super.....I would caution about burning a candle on wood though and also for stability, but I love it. The lamp is DEFINITELY my favorite. You should have used the leather as a template though.....but as we do these projects we get so gung ho, and hindsight is 20/20.....all sucesses!!!! Keep up the good work. The thing I love about thrifting "blindly" is that true creativity can shine through! But if you get stumped, Pinterest is always there to fall back on. Keep 'em coming Drew !!!!!!!

Loved the lamp do over! If you took a thin dull gold ribbon /gold paint you could outline the vertical edges of the triangle portion of the marble contact paper, creating a more purposeful look of the differing marble directions.

Love your channel. So yes! Target donates their salvaged, and items that you typically find on clearance and seasonal that don’t sell as well as items they have lingering inventory on. Such a score when you find them!!!! Love watching your videos!!! great eye and design! Keep them coming!!

Some more ideas for the spray lamp for those who are more artistic or adventurous: doing an ombre coat of paint especially to tie in colours from the surrounding space. Like a pale pista green transitioning into a forest green or a rust turning into burgundy would pop more against the white lampshade. Another idea, for the lamp stand, get a geode effect, use high quality and metallic finish paints and create geodesic waves and effects or similar to agate stone, may take a while like any committed artist’s project but the effects look stunning especially if finished off with a clear glossy coat. Or for the lampshade, refer to any constellations, accordingly poke holes in the lampshade to correspond, spray paint the shade a deep navy or black and turn the light on.

All of them were so cute. If you ever decide to paint the screws, you can stick them into some scrap Styrofoam. It works great to paint the end of screws or drawer pulls.
