In this episode I find that the galley pantry cabinet needs a bit of support for the food storage. I also secure the bed to the frame although I lost the hinges (I will have to buy new ones to finish). I also exchange the bulky clamps holding the topper to the bed of the truck with bolts and nuts. I need your opinion on facing out the cabinets or just leaving them blank... let me know in the comments!

That "big gap" you mentioned behind the cabinet(s) might be absolutely perfect for temporarily storing reflectix window coverings during the day. It's what I use my "gap" for...I simply pull out the ready-made reflectix window coverings at night, but perhaps you're not using reflectix in that way yet.

Very nice,it's nice to see you've used the space near the cab as a night stand area. I'm not sure why most people don't. It's logical to do so. Nice to see you are.

Thank you Sandy for the positivity! Wait until you see what I do with that area and the accessories I am going to add. I may have to change the lower shelf height also. Stay tuned and thanks for watching!

Your build is coming out really good looks like a fun project. I finished my truck build last summer. After seeing your great idea of taking the clamps out that will be my next step, thanks for the idea. “Keep on truckin” your buddy Rik

Thanks Rik! It is fun...just wished I had an actual plan drawn out before starting....lol! Glad you liked the idea of removing the clamps... I have done it on all my trucks in the past. I even put eye bolts on past trucks where the holes were as added securing points after removing the top. Thanks for watching buddy!

This is why I watch hours of video before acting on a decision. Brilliant idea on getting rid of the clamps and using bolts. So simple but nobody I’ve seen has done that yet. My cap ain’t going on and off so why not use bolts. Thanks. I’ve “borrowed” a few ideas form your video.

You could also add some netting across openings to eliminate any added weight. We still have to buy our cap and our build will have an L-shape bed. I am 5 feet tall and hubby is 6 feet tall so I will get the width and he will get the length. I have luggage bags that I will use for our clothing. packs efficiently and stacks well. I have arthritis in whole body so build will go slow but with alot of thought to usage. I can't thank you enough for sharing your build. Great ideas.

Joy... thank you for the comment! Yes the netting will work great and I do have some ready to install. Maybe in the next couple of videos? I too have arthritis in my whole body (back is the worst), which is one reason it is also taking me so long to build (that and weather). I can only do a little at a time...then days of recovery follows. I purchased an inversion table that helps a little as well as my tens unit. Thanks for the positivity also! I am so glad other people like my videos and can use my build for their own build. No one has the perfect set up for everyone, so taking a little from each build really helps on planning your own build. Thanks again and can't wait to see your build! :)

I really like your build 👍 You make it look easy, but I know it's not I like how you used thinner wood instead of using 2x4 ( which I think is way over kill) I would like to see you "facing" or trimming the cabinets
@Youcan2Adventures
@Youcan2Adventures 3 года назад
Hi Lincoln! Thanks for the comment! My next video (I am editing now) I do face the cabinets and so glad I did. They look so much better and are much stronger. I also removed the support leg as it is not needed. Stay tuned and thanks for watching!

Watching your vids and have a suggestion. It may just be me but I really like your narration and information and really dislike the music instead. I turn the sound off through the music and hope to find the spots where you share your insights about the build. Thanks for the videos either way.
@Youcan2Adventures
@Youcan2Adventures 3 года назад
Thanks for the comments! Yes I agree on the music, but I cannot go back and remove the music although I wish I could.... my newer videos do not have music or very little. Thanks for watching and I am glad you like them and glad they are a help. I am now back to civilization and will be making more videos after being off grid all summer in the Rocky mountains.

Facing it out would look nice and give you a lip on top so you can store things without them falling off so easily. Are you going to (or did you) varnish or coat the wood? That would protect against water from condensation and leaks. Great job so far, thanks for the vids! :)
@Youcan2Adventures
@Youcan2Adventures 3 года назад
Hi RPG Chick and thanks for commenting! You are right about the facing. I am planning on staining and coating them once finished as I have already had water damage from a leaky third tail light (repaired now) on top of cap. Thanks for the positive comments! Keep watching as hopefully I will have the latest out this weekend.

What's the name of the nail gun. Where can I get one
@Youcan2Adventures
@Youcan2Adventures 2 года назад
Ryobi brand brad nail gun. Home Depot sells them. Mine jams a lot and will not fire half of the time when you want it to. You have to keep the battery almost full or it won't work.... just a pain for the money. I have taken very good care of mine and lube it often... still is not dependable. I would buy a better brand if I had the money! Thanks for watching and commenting :)

Facing the cabinets would have given you the strength you needed instead of adding that leg.
@Youcan2Adventures
@Youcan2Adventures 3 года назад
Indeed you are correct. Thanks!
@Youcan2Adventures
@Youcan2Adventures 3 года назад
Thinking it over.... I believe I will leave the leg and do the facing over it as the leg will work better for attaching hinges for my door on the cabinet. We will see. Thanks for the input !
