Hello, I’ve just come across your DIY pattern on RU-vid for the Flower Doily Crochet Dreamcatcher. I wanted to make one for a present for my daughter. I am fairly good crocheter. My question is (for the 19 cm ring) ; What is the thickness (or gauge) of the cotton you are using to make the doily? How much is needed for the doily (length in inches or meters)? Question: In round 8 you say to do "4 double crochet together". But it looks like what you are actually doing is 1 double crochet followed by 3 double crochet together. When I do 4 DC tog I end uo with 5 threads on the hook. I am confused. Which is it. 3 or 4 dc tog?

This is gorgeous!! I am going to use this video to make my first dreamcatcher!! I have lots of acrylic yarn that I can use and I'm assuming that as long as it's a dreamcatcher that stays indoors, using acrylic yarn shouldn't be much of an issue? @@TheCraftCat I completed the doily and it's beautiful! Since I used acrylic yarn, it has a stretch to it. It currently measures 7 1/2 inches. What size ring would you recommend for this piece that'll stretch? Will a 10 inch hoop suffice?

Thank you Veronica, you may add on the number of round after the flower petal ( crochet web ) by increasing stitches. For example : sc4 , next round sc5, next round sc6 , constantly add stitches.

Thank you Sarah. To make a bigger doily, you will need to increase round, which is the part after making petals. In tutorial, Round 8 showing chain 4 , round 9 chain 5. Change round 10 to crochet web by chain 6.... round 11 chain 7....increase according until your ideal size...
Hi Laurie, by switching crochet hook, it can slightly change the size. And also the type of yarn + crochet hook size will change the size too. The thicker the yarn, the larger the hook size you will need, which will make bigger doily.
Can you tell me how big the doily is? I have a bunch of 12 inch hoops that I’d like to use. Was just wondering if this would fit them. I’m planning on making them for Christmas gifts. It is just so beautiful
The hoop we use in this video is 19cm ( 7.5 inch ). You might need to increase rounds for 12 inch hoop, when you done Round 8 of crochet ( after the flower petal ) , keep increase rounds of making web . Round 8 is CH4, Sc1 Round 9 is CH5, Sc1 Then you keep on increase Round 10 , CH6, Sc1 And so..to reach your ideal size. Remember the diameter of doily should be 4 to 5cm smaller than your hoop.
I have several doiles my mother made many years to. I also have trinkets, beads and momentos I would like to put on my dream catcher, but I'm not sure at what point or how I would do this. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks in advance

How would I go about making it bigger for a bigger ring? If I don't want to use thicker yarn, then how do I make it much bigger? Are there certain rows I should make more of? If so, which do you suggest?
Hi Peggie , if the size is just slightly bigger, you may increase round, for example Round 9 : chain 5 , Sc1. Then next round increase to chain 6, sc1. It will form bigger web part. If you wanted to make so much bigger then this, then you need to increase overall from the round of making flower petal to make a bigger flower.

Hi Rebecca, in this video showing lace yarn #3, which is about 1mm thickness, so this is not a superfine yarn. The size of yarn is depend on what size of doily you like to make.
