DIY Twin Disc Clutch Install in Turbo LS FC RX-7 || Tilton ST-246 Twin Disc Clutch Install

In this episode I install a Tilton ST-246 Twin Disc clutch to replace the burnt up Monster Clutch that was originally in it. The old clutch had many heavily abused miles and was only rated for 700 lb-ft of torque. The RX-7 is making over 800 whp now and it proved to be too much for the old clutch.
The new clutch feels great and feels very much ready to run a 9 second 1/4 mile!

Woh there from my understanding the clutch teeth and slave disc measurement is an interference one. Kinda like pre load. In theory your example would cause the slave to be fully extended before the clutch is fully released.

Nice job on the install! Do you run an external wastegate/blowoff? In the strip video it sounded a bit tsu tsu tsu on the gearshift. If thats turbo flutter it's the compressor wheel momentarily stalling, which hurts performance . I couldn't tell for sure? Do you have an oil catch can? What was the stain in the down pipe? I might be looking too hard 👀 lol Can't wait to see ot hit the strip! 👍

Thanks man. I run both an external wg and a BOV. The BOV I have makes that stu stu sound. I also run two catch cans, both of which are nearly dry, just a haze of oil. I noticed the stain in the downpipe too but I'm pretty sure that is just unburnt fuel and moisture. When I pulled it in to do the clutch I didn't let it warm up... I'd rather that then burn myself taking it apart

@@provinsgarage ah cool. I thought it might have been just from a cold start. That downpipe is huuuuge! You could put a semi in there! 😄 You have it plumbed for longevity by the sounds of things! 👍
