Your “kitchen regret”... regarding not being able to “plate next to the stove”...could you use a cutting board that covers your sink to create more counter space?

Making the flip-up table with a cut-out to accommodate your outlet might be a good idea as well as a cutting board that covers your sink to give you the extra space you need.

ONE RECOMENDATION: Have the fire extinguisher very accessible and if you can have two or three of them. You'll need them if God forbit a fire ignites

How about Placing a cutting board across the sink?.

As far as putting a plate next to the stove when you're cooking, I've seen a lot of tiny houses that had cutting boards fitted to cover the sink opening in order to provide additional countertop space. Somebody has probably already suggested this but hey, here it is again for what it's worth.

Shower Door SOLUTION - on the edge of the door attach very small rare earth magnets. And small / thin metal plates or other rare earth magnets on the frame. And you need to keep your fire extinguisher OUTSIDE of a hard to access cabinet and behind several items in front of it. Preferably mounted on a wall. And a carbon monoxide detector is a must.

this is one of the best conversions I’ve ever seen. I’ve always imagined having a stationary bed, but I loved the way you did the convertible without sacrificing storage!!

Great design guys. Good use of space and I love how you’ve got some decent garage space by elevating the floor and still can have convertible bed/dinette.

I don’t know if it has been suggested, but, get another piece of butcher block that will just fit over your sink and then you will have that extra place for your plates. Love your layout!

Have a tip for your drawer regrets! Add a tray, box top or basket in the shelf. You won't have to dig or loose the storage width on your shelf.

You can just scooch the outlet over to the right a little more, and make it bigger. :) or put a baking sheet over the sink.

AAaaaawww....what a beautiful Van Conversion. Great job and excellent layout! If I decided to get rid of my truck, maybe I will trade-in my Geo Pro for a Van Conversion.

You also might consider mounting / using one of those plastic clam shell containers up on top - ( since that sturdy wooden / composite deck is up there already ) if you ever need to carry more than the van will allow. Or - even if you wanted to take bikes along. And there are options for trailer hitch mounted storage boxes - racks etc . .

Very nice build, I just installed the same shower door, it seems most folks are installing them backwards with the handle facing out instead of in, think about it when you use the door you are inside the shower, it does make for good video footage.

We've watched many vids of your Van build...it looks GREAT!!! luv all the spacious storage. Super functional Van.

One thought you could easily make a sink cover so you the counter space when you need it over the sink.

All of these that I see put the propane in a hard to reach location - why not open the back up and add a small door / panel above the shoe panel - also, a slideout half drawer for her shoes would probably help ( basically the bottom, rear, left and right sides of a drawer with the left / right cut down to half just so it doesn't take up a lot of room so you can easily pull the entire thing out, and have nothing lost in there. You could get some incredibly slim-line drawer sliders that don't weigh a lot and would work well... With drawers - you can design them so you basically only lose a tiny amount - use beeswax so you can have wood on wood but use the metal sliders and inset them.. so super close tolerances and if it does hit wood on wood it will be super smooth. Also if it gets super hot, it will smell nice. So if done right, the drawers you won't lose that much space at all.. Fire extinguisher you should put under the seat - they make mounts and they can be mounted in such a way that it isn't in the way, but is super quick to get to. For coffee - get a Bodum - all you do is put coffee grinds in, hot water in, let it sit for a bit, then push down to separate the coffee grinds from the water. Pour over is literally as easy as it sounds - that is all your machine does... you can also use a reverse bodum - the plastic thing which goes on top of a cup, coffee in filter and pour water over and it will come out the bottom. For the outlet - move the outlet slightly - then use your old butcherblock and make something that has a gravity falling stick underneath to ratchet it up so as you lift the block up, it locks into notches on the way up - or just have 1 notch. You can also offset it outward so that the switch isn't blocked and as you rotate the block up it comes to fit flush with your countertop. OR - Open the door all the way and put it there. You have a lot of wasted space there by the door it looks like - although it may be misjudged because it is slightly open - but there may be enough room for the same design behind / hanging outside. For toiletries cabinet - very difficult to get to stuff, a lot of wasted space on the outside of the cabinet facing the bed... You could put some mesh basket style shelving on that - then put stuff like q-tips, and meds, etc.. in that... For your shower door - drill a hole almost all the way through the handle in 2 spots - put neodymium magnets in them and epoxy or seal them in with silicone or melt some plastic to match the handle or just 3D print a new one.. Attach a metal plate, or more magnets on the other side too... Simple way to latch the door. For the toilet - some type of quick release mechanism would likely be better - they have lever style tie-down systems and you could put the metal plates under the wood floor so it can fit through without hitting your foot - this would make it a lot more convenient than bolting / unbolting... OR just use a normal composting toilet - they don't smell.

Great van build. Ergonomics of your build seem to cover all aspects of your personal requirements. I have been living in my van for a month now. We opted for a fixed bed but still have a seating area for 7 in our lounge area as we didn’t want to be making a bed every night and day. Van life needs to be as easy as you can make it. Good luck

A way to seal the shower door is by using magnets

Induction cook tops are cool to the touch as soon as the pan is removed. If there is no magnetic field (bottom of pan) there is No heat~

You could add a lagoon table next to the stove. Van looks beautiful!

Cool build. I'm surprised with that much battery power you didn't go with fixed induction cooktop. No more propane to worry about, less heat generated when cooking, less moisture, faster cooking times, adds more counter space, more compact, etc. You guys should really think about induction. 300ah on lithium is plenty.

Your kitchen problem is an easy fin. Move the switch on the end of the counter/cabinet, and install a flip up counter top. You can make the flip up as big as you need it to be. Just make sure you put your flip up counter top is level with the main counter top, makes life a lot easier. Enjoy your new life.

I have a few questions. 1. Did you build this gorgeous van by your lonesome or did someone else besides you guys do some work? 2. When you get state inspections, do you need to take it to an RV place and not a local garage?

I'm surprised at the number of people who put cabinets in and wish they had drawers... It is not as hard as everyone seems to think it is to switch a cabinet two drawers! It's not that expensive you don't have to tear the entire unit out to do it you just take the doors off build the drawers to fit in put them on self-closing tracks and there you are... An easy conversion for when you have the time.

If you kept the butcher block cut out from the sink, you could have used it as a cutting board and flip it for a cap on the sink for extra bench space next to your cooker.

Don’t sweat the small stuff, your van is lovely. I love the faucet and the wood on counter tops. The white paneling gives it a modern sophisticated look. 👍🏼👍🏼

Heres a great option for the cabinets: Slideout shelves. Just like you have for the spice rack and Keurig You can retrofit the pot and pan cabinets :-)
