I missed the live. I was floating in the pool. I'm making yogurt now and using Silk's Almond Cashew Protein, soya powder, and extra cashews. My cultures come from the batch of yogurt I made recently and froze. I use it thawed and brought up to room temp. I also add 1/8 tsp of xanthan gum to help stabilize everything. I've been making it in my 3 qt mini instant pot every 2 weeks for 4-5 years

Always such a lovely time hanging out :) you really do brighten our days :D loving making my own soy yoghurt, though I've only used store-bought milk ^^ I got two "batches" of yoghurt starter when I got it, but it was a long time until I used the second one, as normally I just do it from the previous batch; in between, I froze it, and it worked wonders when I was ready :) exciting to see how things will turn out :D thank you so much

You and Joann both freeze some for the next batch. I have something new to try!

You can freeze your yogurt starter powder. I do it all the time since I'm always purchasing it when Cultures for Health has a sale. Just stick the packets into the freezer in a sandwich baggie. I generally just use yogurt from my previous batch as my starter but when I don't have that option, I pull out a packet from the freezer and toss it into my cooled to 115F yogurt mixture. I ferment for 11-12 hours. I also strain my yogurt since Paul likes it thick. (use the whey for your plants. they love it)

to answer your question about how I label my freezer containers. I use a super pernament marker and put a letter on each lid. example A, B,C,D, etc... the marker doesn't come off. then I have a spreadsheet (google sheet) the first column I put the matching letters, next column is name of recipe, next column receipe website link or book and page number and the last column is what I acually used and the amounts. then I print it and put it on the side of the fridge. works great plus I have a record of what I made. I have my tablet or phone out with the spreadsheet open so I type as I make the receipe

I have not had luck with iPot yogurt. But I have been successful with west soy (soy & water only ingredients) out of the cupboard, 12oz jar, 2 capsules of probiotics, mix well. Cover with cloth, put in oven with only the light on overnight (12hrs) & works every time. I tried homemade soy this way - no luck. 😊 Thanks for your videos Kathy.

That blend didn't ferment well for you in the IP?

@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes I haven't tried that specific thing in the IP bc I usually only make 1 jar. I had used the actual culture that you are to use for it when I did the IP. I'll have to try it again - that recipe in the IP.

This is a long shot but I believe I saw it on your channel as a comment. Someone stated that she soaks and freezes the soybeans before making yogurt? Or just freezes the soybeans to make the yogurt. I've done this and I can't compare it to not soaking not freezing but I like the taste of the yogurt. Do you have any recollection of do you soak in freeze or you just freeze the soybeans? Thank you

It's so you have soybeans to make milk with at any given moment. If you soak them like I do, you have to think further ahead.
