DIY: VW / Audi 3.0L TDI oil change via extraction (for 2013+ TDI)

extraction oil change for 3.0L TDI used on many Audi, VW and Porsche Cayenne cars, this oil change was done on a 2014 VW Touareg Clean Diesel with CNRA / CNRB engine.
Engine oil capacity is 7.7 Liters, but my car came with 8 Liters filled.
This engine is used in:
Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q7 TDI
VW Touareg TDI
Porsche Cayenne Diesel.
As usual I'm not responsible if you break your car. if your car is not a touareg, please do extra research for your particular car before DIYing.

The better way to install an oil filter cartridge: 1. Extract access oil from the oil filter housing with an oil extractor and wipe clean with lint free Scott Blue Shop towels. 2. Install the new oil filter cartridge in the oil filter housing. 3. Fill oil filter housing with new oil up to the bottom of threads. 4. Install O-ring on the oil filter cap and smear oil on O-Ring. 5. Install oil filter cap and torque to 25 Nm.

I have a 2013 Cayenne diesel and was wondering if you could share an image of where the coolant temperature sensor is located in this particular engine? Thanks - Tim

Maybe mention to drive the car around first and warm up and homogenize the oil completely, first, before extracting the oil.

It actually doesn't make any difference, you're just wasting your time... Oil viscosity is same at 5c and at 80+c

@@gazzxr lol. nah but viscosity isn't the main reason the engine oil should be at operating temp. you want any particles to be suspended in the oil when u extract or drain so you can be sure there's minimal mixed in the fresh oil

Good video is that a 6 litre extractor?i only have a 4 litre one but i suppose i could pull the tube out and stop it halfway .

I always suck out the oil filter housing with the vacuümpump, lots of oil in there.

There is an Audi Service Bulletin out that says the Q7 TDI oil should be bottom drained. There are pan baffles that prevent all the oil from being vacuum extracted.

Hi. Do you know haw to replace the battery in a touareg 2014? I know its under the left seat, but I need to know how to remove the seat. I found some videos about it, but they are of older models and the seats are different. Thank You.

Hi, great review! I got a Q7 TDI as well. I’m located in Florida but I’m having hard time finding oil for tdi looked around local auto parts and they don’t have it. Any suggestions? Thanks

FCP Euro. They warranty used oil so when you are done you pay shipping back and they refund you the cost of the oil.

So now we have sludge and left over stuff in the bottom of the oil pan cause this guy was too lazy to remove the screw after heating the engine up for abit and draining oil the age long way of doing so.

It's not about being lazy or not. If you don't have access to a lift then there is little choice. I've used axle stands beore but with an almost 2 ton car resting above your face it's hardly confidence inspiring.
