One thing I didn't catch was where the bypass/discharge line goes to. Would that be just on the ground, or where? Great and thorough explanation by the way! Very much appreciated.

Yep! I just adjust the hose so it discharges into the grass or away from the cart onto the concrete. It’s just hard water discharge

Hi, great video!!! I am starting to build my RO/DI, housings and membranes just arrived and I am starting to source my fittings but im not sure what size lines will be the best. Is it better to use 3/4" hose instead of 1/2"?. Thanks
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 3 дня назад
I always like to err on the side of larger tube and fittings, since the fittings are your choke point for flow. I built this system with 3/4” on the pure water side and you can use smaller for the RO discharge

How did you drill the hole in the frame when mounting the RO into the metal. Thanks.
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 2 дня назад
Just use a center punch to mark the hole and then a standard drill and drill bit. It’s steel but it’s fairly thin and easy to drill through

Would you say this more comparable to the Xero Pure or Pure Plus in performance? Thanks for the video!!
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 26 дней назад
You’re welcome! Same initial filtering as the Pure but it’s got a higher flow RO membrane and DI tank than both of those options so you’ll probably end up with better flow out of this custom build than either one of those options.

I just completed the same build and the water pressure coming out of the DI tank is the same, but doesn’t seem to be enough to come efficiently out of the water fed pole, any ideas why? Do I need a booster pump? Different pole?
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 26 дней назад
Yeah, if your flow is too low you’d probably want to add a booster pump. Flow to a WFP in general isn’t going to be super high. Give it a try first on your own windows and see if you can adjust the RO bypass to get the flow you need.
@SalmonTroutSteelheader

Nice video man, very well done! How many GPM are you getting out of this system? Wondering if its enough flow to have a spotless free rinse on cars
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 8 месяцев назад
Thanks! I’m getting somewhere between 0.5 and 1 GPM. You would probably want to run several RO membranes in parallel to get higher flow for a car rinsing system.

I have a tank with pump for rinsing cars
@Echo7Sierra.ConcertCorner
@Echo7Sierra.ConcertCorner 4 месяца назад
Ideally, you would want a tank for the RO water with a pump and bypass to your resin filter (will reduce your PPM to 0), for rinsing your cars.

How many gallons does this system get before the DI resin needs replaced. most di canisters total around 250-300 gallons without the r.o. system. my guess is around 10x the use?
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 3 месяца назад
Totally depends on your incoming TDS and how low you can get the outgoing TDS from the RO membrane. Our TDS at the DI inlet is around 25 so our expected life is 5000+ gallons. There is a chart on the Window Cleaner website for the DI resin tank that shows expected life

if the ro was hooked up to just a garden hose, what would the output be like? I have a di cart for pressure washing my cars and was wondering if i can use the ro as an inline prefilter before my di tank but i suspect that the ro membrane is pretty restrictive because all the set ups I have seen incorporates a tank to hold the water after it has gone through the ro and then it is pumped into the di via booster and then to the pressure washer. Would a hi flo ro membrane help?
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds Месяц назад
At the end of the day, the single RO is always going to be the most restrictive. The Axeon membrane linked in this video was the highest flow at low pressure (garden hose) that I could find. But I think if you’re trying to feed a pressure washer, I’d look at running multiple RO membranes in parallel.

What is the waste water discharge ratio procedure ? Are using tds to set up flow or purely water ratio like 4 to 1 ? . I’m not using a DI filter . This if for my hydroponic setup .
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 4 месяца назад
You can test tds to get the right reject vs clean flow rate for your hydroponic setup. Time is money for window washing so I’ll leave my discharge a little lower to get more flow through the DI tank. Resin is cheap!
@HandyHoneyBunnyLLC

Thank you ! all is possible. What was you last price and time doing this?
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 2 месяца назад
I believe around $1100 but cost can be reduced by downsizing the DI tank which is a bit overkill or using a less premium RO membrane. Full parts list in the description for accurate pricing.

need to check the water 3 places 1 incoming 2 after R0 3 after DI. Outer wise you don't know. I say that because i ran 450+ TDS thru DI and still tested 0 but rosin didn't last.
@pressurewashnerds

Yep! I didn’t cover it in the video but my water at the tap was around 350 tds, after RO was 18-40 depending on bypass, and post DI zero.

I live in Las Vegas and need the best filter for sand and carbon reverse osmosis. Do you feel that this build is suitable for my needs?
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 8 месяцев назад
Yeah! You could consider adding an extra sediment filter in front of the carbon filter. That would catch all the large particles and preserve the rest of the system.
@truckandtea

Very informative thank you. I’m thinking install something for my mobile detailer van, do you know if I don’t put the RO filter just , one Sediment + 1 carbon then the resin filter, I mean those sd+carbon filter helps at all ? If yes do you know if from my tap water I get 300 TDS, how much dose remove before the resin filter ?

@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 5 месяцев назад
Our RO was putting out around 20 TDS with incoming around 300. The Axeon membrane in the video will do 2500GPD at 80 psi. It’s a high flow membrane

Yes, there is no downside to rinsing first with a garden hose or similar, and then using the RO/DI system.

Most RO systems have a sediment filter before carbon. Do you recommend?
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 5 месяцев назад
Depends on use. We are primarily a pressure washing company so using a sediment filter to prolong the life of our carbon filter didn’t make sense for us. If you’re running this daily or constant for another application then yes, add the sediment for sure.

Hey Dillon. I have a question. I designed my system just like yours. I went with 1/2" fittings. My inlet tank at the DI swivel fitting leaks. Is that a pressure relief fitting. I actually removed it and re-teflon taped it. The thread is not leaking. It's leaking at the rotating portion of the fitting. Your opinion?
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 8 месяцев назад
The fitting at the outlet? I’ve heard they crack easily so I went ahead and bought a brass backup from Window Cleaning Resource in their waterfed fittings section.

@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 11 месяцев назад
Sometimes the supply can be too contaminated to get tds down to an extremely low level. Only advice would be to keep messing with the amount of discharge your system is putting out to see if you can get it down any lower than that!

@@pressurewashnerds my tds out of the ro tank is 20-25. My tds coming out of my di tank is also 20-25. Is there a chance my di tank isn’t working?
@pressurewashnerds
@pressurewashnerds 11 месяцев назад
@Allussion sounds like the resin needs replaced. Water should always leave the DI near zero unless it needs replaced.
