As a window cleaner living in New Zealand I use pure wash system similar to Zero systems portable devices 2 resin canisters and carbon filter first inlet then into first resin before going inside 2 resin canister you only change one canister at the time that one becomes nr 2 and number 2 becomes number 1 change resin around every 2000-2500 liters of pure water great system more space inside the van as I also do spider proofing services and carpet cleaning services thank you for great video

Here's the Brisbane, Australia, situation. I only use pure water about 2 days a week with the rest of my work being trad. TDS reading is an average of 235ppm out of the tap. I use a 12.5litre DI tank with a 10inch carbon pre-filter. For the work I do, and the type of jobs, a DI tank is the most efficient for me. I get my TDS down to 0 to 3ppm. The system is portable which in many Aussie homes is essential. Thanks for the video, Ash.

@@thegadgetemporiumaustralia8509 For the best effect of pure water cleaning, investing in a small di tank is best. Maybe an 8 litre tank from Window Cleaning World. The water in Melbourne is much better than in Brisbane. You won't churn through the di resin as fast down there.

Hi mate,just setting up a van to do part time cleaning,currently our water is around 90pmm at home. I filled the 6litre resin bottle with new tulison resin,and it made no difference to the ppm🤔🤔. Put it through an old 2litre hydro pro (with new resin) and it brought it down to zero….any idea why the bigger bottle is not reducing ppm?? Loving the videos and learning alot.still have so much to learn. Cheers Jay

When you are measuring the PPM it will take quite a few litres to get an accurate reading from your TDS meter. When I change my resin or filters I can be working for more than half a day before I start to see the PPM drop. I know I’m using pure water because I just changed the filters, but it takes a while for the TDS meter to catch up. Loads more tips on my courses: www.aemackintosh-onlinetraining.com/collections

@mayorofbasedville7680 Год назад
This might be a dumb question, but here it goes. An entry level water fed pole system is $2-$ 3k. A 4-stage RODI aquarium filter is about $200. Why couldn't I just use some fittings to plug a garden hose in the inlet of an aquarium filter and attached my WFH to the outlet? Wouldn't that essentially be the same thing at about 1/10 the price?
@aemackintosh
@aemackintosh Год назад
I don’t know about aquariums but I suspect it would produce pure water at a much slower rate. Check the GPD figure for the system you plan to use.👍🏼
@unseen9404
@unseen9404 Год назад
How fast can a DI filter produce water if I just want to fill up some canisters? The Unger DI filter is supposed to be used with tap pressure but I'm assuming that's only if you directly connect the waterfed pole to it with a thin hose. What if I put a wider hose on the output? is there any limit to how much pressure I can use? Does the resin still filter effectively if water goes through it very fast?
@aemackintosh
@aemackintosh Год назад
It is reliant on your tap pressure. But there is also a restriction on the outlet valve to prevent water coming through too quickly. You might be able to make pure water more quickly if you remove it, but I haven’t tried it. The water needs to be in with the resin for a while so it ends up pure, so if it goes through more quickly it might not be as pure? But I’m not sure.

Hi Ashley, is it better to run the water through the RO System into barrels at home and then have the Di vessel after the pump in the van or get the water to zero before going into the barrels? thanks for your videos.
@aemackintosh
@aemackintosh 2 года назад
Different window cleaners have their own preferences, but if you run it through the di from the van it can give you the extra confidence that you are using pure water on the windows and it’s not somehow become contaminated by accident whilst storing it. Not that it would, but you never know. Also it can be handy to have the di with you in case you need to purify some tap water in an emergency.😃👍🏼

@aemackintosh
@aemackintosh Год назад
The DI will work, but you will find that you will need to change the resin quite often, so it will be expensive. RO will be more expensive to buy at the start but you will be changing the filters less often, so it will be cheaper in the long run.👍🏼

Hi, Loved the video. Could you advise on the additional costs of using a DI filter for a single domestic house window clean. So windows might be done every two weeks, maybe just once a month. Does using a DI filter infrequently have an effect on its longevity? I appreciate that I am in a hard water area and would be better to use RO and DI. But for an infrequent clean as far as I can cost, payback on a system would be under two years. However the instructions for DI filters talk about needing to be flushed with water if not used regulary. So I was wondering if there are any other pitfalls that would affect my costings of using a DI filter and pole system to just clean my own windows?
@aemackintosh
@aemackintosh 2 года назад
Once the DI resin has been exposed to air or moisture it will start to deteriorate, no matter how much you use it. It may work out cheaper for you to buy barrels and fill them up at a local Spotless water filling station?👍🏼

Kevin Murphy That should literally be it, as I’ve shown. Your system may differ slightly, and you will need the right hose connections, but basically you should have water in, and two hoses out, one of which will be your pure water.😃👍🏼

I am off to buy a TDS meter, so I can decide what is the best option for me. But does any one know if I only want to make very small amounts of window cleaning quality water, will the filters degrade whilst not in use. Or will they only degrade in use. I ask thins because i may only make 100 to 200 litres every 3 months or so. (I may start offering a window clean after I pressure wash for example, and then I would use much more water for windows. Because I clean shopping centres and other big areas where windows are next to what i am cleaning I can see that it could be worth the investment. But i have no plans to become a window cleaner)

Hi, we had our 4 month old windows cleaned for the first time with a Pure Water system as well as the fascias and soffits, the next day our house was swarmed with fairly large house flies. No matter how many of them I vacuum up (which has a one way flap so they wouldn't be able to escape from it) or kill, every few hours we find a couple more flies. Weird thing is, they're always attracted to the windows more than I've normally seen, they're fairly slow flyers as well so not too hard to catch. My question is, is there anything in the pure water system that would cause flies to be attracted to windows that have been washed with it? In the 15yrs of living here, we've never seen anything like this. The only place they can come in from is the chimney but that has one of those chimney sheep things to block it up, there's no bad smells/rotting food in or outside the property. This has been going on for about 5 days now and I've had to resort to using some lemongrass oil in a diffuser running all day which so far seems to have reduced the amount of flies. I assume this is all coincidence, but just thought I would ask in case.

As ro is more a calmer filter and di is more of an aggressive polar magnetic the water molicules are more agitated when striped by the Di so want to fill their polar ends so the less ppm that goes through the Di the less ppm of water is agitated

oh yeah, not to mention RO systems ratio of purified water to waste is 1:3, meaning to get 1 littre of purified water you have to waste 3 litter of tap water, bingo, very economical green way no doubts (( Cleaning windows is not rocket science you don need zero EC level purified water like in pharama industry for instance. DI filter does the job in conjunction with say carbon filter. Besides, you'd kill hours of your time to get a drum of 20ltr of purified water using that RO system
