Hello scrappers and planet lovers. In this video, I show you how to make several cheap and effective wire strippers. I do love my Stripmeister, but unfortunately it does not strip all my lower gauge wire. In this video, I will test out a few simple homemade wire strippers that I made to see if I can recover the copper without buying a more heavy duty wire stripper.

I like your creativity. Creating ways to put a few more bucks in your pocket is humbling at times but also fun. Keep up the good work.

Initially I thought you was going to show the screw just poking through the hole method, had to smile at the copper needles sticking in your fingers, yep they do hurt. 😂

I’ve thought about doing an experiment to see if that thermostat wire you have there is worth stripping time wise. HVAC scrappers would probably like to know because I come across a ton of it abandoned on residential job sites.. I’ve been throwing it in with my #2 insulated. But I’ve wondered😂 sometimes I’ll drink a beer and make a buck or two but sometimes that time could be better spent hustling more scrap

you can actually strip a little off the end then just put the clean wire in the vice and you dont need the block of wood at all

A much easier way is to use a “Potato Peeler”… It’s a bit more feasible to use & you don’t worry about slicing up your hands!

The knife works best on solid.

For those people who don't have wire clamps to hold the utility blade in ... Tin cans and aluminum cans cutouts with heavy duty craft scissors can also hold the utility blade if not screwing in the utility blade itself into the wood board with drill holes.

I use a Swiss Army knife for stripping wire, works well and stays sharp. Question: is it ok to leave regular plug ends on appliance wire at zubicks in London? Thanks ✌️

Yes, plug ends are fine.

Just wondering what do other scrappers do with the crimped part of electrical connectors cut from the ends of wires? I cut off the brass lug or connector and throw those in my brass bucket, but I have been just keeping the crimped part that has a little bit of brass and a little bit of copper wire. They're too small to pry apart and really too much effort for the little bit of brass and copper. But I'm getting quite a lot of them piled up and wondering if the scrap yard will take them as brass or...? Does anyone know?

They take as brass. You can have copper on brass but not brass on copper.
