When I tested after I did the plug, it is working fine . The relay that turns on the gas all controlled by furnace control board which receive 110 V power from the house or from generator.
It appears the extension cord you have going from your generator to your furnace is what is called a suicide cord. Not a good idea. Definitely better ways to do this.
Both ends are male? The power cord from the furnace does not produce power . The furnace only receives power from either the receptacle or from generator. Like plug-in a toaster even in a receptacle. Not sure I know what you mean. Please elaborate
That is by no means a suicide cord. All that is being done is to wire the furnace with a pigtail to power it directly to the generator in the event of a power outage. The issue you may have is a floating neutral generator. In this case, powering the furnace directly, I believe you would want a bonded neutral.
Not a suicide cord... He basically split the power feed coming into the furnace and fed the house power into a new box with a receptacle and then connected the furnace wiring to the male extension cord end. When the power goes out in the house, he unplugs the furnace and plugs it into an normal extension cord connected to the generator. There is never any power being fed out from the male blades on any plug.
