Beautiful Work. Truly a Master. I was wondering what you meant by the wood's "Heather". I know now it means what we call in the US "Grain" or "Woodgrain Pattern". I like the word "Heather" much better. Thank you for a great video.
I loved seeing the original and now the explanation makes it better. But I am not sure what you mean by "the heather". Do you mean the "Wood Grain Figure"? ‘Wood grain’ refers to the alignment, texture and appearance of wood fibres, whereas its ‘Figure’ describes the pattern created by the grain orientation.

What absolutely delightful timber in this project. I have bever seen more beautifully grained wood & the way you work it is amazing to watch. I have never seen a more accomplished woodworker in my 83 years. I am absolutely amazed at your knowledge of your timbers and the quality & sharpness of the tools you use. Yes, it is a very heavy table as shown by your struggles to move it around & yet the finished product does not look all that heavy. I get completely carried away by watching you work, it's brilliant. That must have been an enourmus tree to produce such massive slabs and pieces. And not having it crack as it dried is amazing. Perhaps becouse it is very resinous? The end result was spectacular!
It is a very beautiful table, I will feel very lucky to have one like this in my home, and to look at something not so nice and make a masterpiece out of it is a gift, thank you very much
That is a beautiful monolithic style piece. Friendly language translation advice. When applying a stain, it is referred to as staining. When applying an oil, it's referred to as oiling. The term "painting" is typically only used when dealing with paint. Keep it up Shoyan. This is my newest favorite channel!
If the term painting is used in Japan it seems a bit presumptuous for you to tell them they need to use your terms of description. Feel free to call it what is traditional for you and expect him to do the same.
@@matthewmoilanen2413 It seems presumptuous to let someone know that "their" translation of my language is incorrect? I disagree. I'm neither telling someone how to speak/translate English-language, nor am I telling someone how to speak their language. I am simply informing them and they can do what they choose with the information. If the term for "oiling" wood, in Japanese is translated as "painting" in English, then I have to assume there was an error in translation. I am confident the Japanese people have a term that differentiates between the two. It seems presumptuous to me to think that the Japanese language is too crude to have a different term for different actions. Does this make sense?

I was trying to be pleasant last time but your insistence on making it all about you is in fact selfish and self centered no presumptuous. He is doing translation as a courtesy to you not because it's necessary. Watch Russian, French, German, and Chinese videos and you will learn its not all about you or you can continue to be a narcissist.

This is absolutely beautiful! The oiled table plate has a real magic finish! I only would have cut the material in the center of the table legs out to let them look like massive frames. That would have make the entire table a little less huge... 😁
