I watched this about two years ago and thought it was a great build. Just took delivery of my 1000 SRT and the exact same case, then stumbled on this video again. Now, let the mods begin! Thanks for the inspiration.
I just did a case build for the 1000 and used a 1u rack drawer to hold stuff in. it works well as you can see everything needed underneath of the controller.
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures thanks for the info. I really like this build. I want to mimic it down to the last screw. Lol! We all need to pay you and Rick Webb for your intellectual property. lol!
I never comment or anything on here but your MOD looks great man! Great quality and very detail info. Also to top it off great quality video filming. Just had a question on info of the laptop arm on where and what’s the model info on it. I have a ddjsr and I have the ODY flight case with the sliding laptop tray but I’ve been thinking for a while to remove since i have to be constantly bending over the controller too look at my laptop while mixing or even when I want to play with the knobs I have to move the sliding part in and out
Awesome mod dude 👏🏽. Observation - it took quite a few seconds to get those wing nuts off those long screws to free your laptop stand - maybe cut the screws down a bit? Just a suggestion 🤷🏽♂️
I have the same case but with the sliding laptop shelf. You'll be happy to know that ProX sells a side-shelf that attaches to the side... perfect for your ipad.
Good Job. I bought the Gator case that is just like yours about 6 years ago. I have done the same thing that you have done. Everything is mounted under my ddj-SX2. The only thing that I have that's different than yours is that I have my cables coming out of the case facing toward me. I don't like the audience to see any cables. I also have 1 slight issue with the arm. You have to be light on touching your Macbook keyboard and mouse or it bounces the laptop. That will make it hard to read the song names and move the mouse to do the right thing. All and All I love it. The other sliding shelf that most cases have killed my back. Too low and too far away. oh 1 more thing that I like about mine is that the laptop arm brings the laptop to eye level so I don't look down.
There is a special place in hell for the 2 people who disliked this video! Great job Kevin. this makes me want to do a case build for my controller set up!
Dope! This inspired me to build my own. I managed to fit the laptop shelf under the case with the microphones on the left side and put all my gear on the right. Is your case tough to close? The foam on mine is thick and when I close it I'm always afraid I'm breaking something
Have you used this at a gig yet? I have a similar Shure wireless microphone and MyDMXGo and was concerned about the wireless connectivity. Great video!
Wow just wanted. To say good job. I have. The ddj 800 i did the case build as well. What you said about the power con. Thing. I wasnt thinking along them lines. Im gonna get another 1 and change just like your. Never thought about. What happens if the. Power con fails
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures i did the same, setup all equipment i Need inside the case and cables to connect, Easy to go and start at the event, less stress ti packing all the time. Now i do i new video with a magma case XXL LITE for a new setup up
@@MACODJ totally agree. We need to minimize the stress, having to remember everything, plus TIME! :) Getting everything into a magma would be quite a feat! That’s not alot of space. Would love to see it!
Super great job. Can you put a link and all the stuff you used to build that case that will be nice, I'm asking you because I have the ddj 1000 and I want to have the same setup. Thanks you in advance.
Great job. Love how you thought everything through especially with the power cord. One thing Though I’m pretty sure you have to own the songs your playing so by hooking up someone else’s phone to play the songs you don’t have you might be a NO NO lol plus I’m sure you know sometimes not having every song isn’t such a bad thing. Some people’s ideas of a awesome song they think will get everyone dancing 9 times out of 10 don’t heck most of the time the person asking for it won’t dance to it. 22 years of doing this I find it best to act all into the song they asked for and tell them if I have it I will play it as fast as I can and smile. They walk away happy and your not the bad guy. Hope this all made sense to you. Keep doing what your doing I still have a ton to learn and look forward to learning.
Mr Pan Cake man well put. I was about to go on the same rant. It is a great setup but he needs to learn to pay for his tracks. If he doesn’t have it just say “no”
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures we saw that milisecond of hesitation ;D hard tekk djs shud learn from wedding dj community but for real, one can see who spins more often lol ;D
Great job on the mod of the case, I would like to do exactly that for my DDJ1000. The powercon and the xlr are the most ideal mod for a case that I have seen in a long time. How much extra did you invest for the mod ?
great mod! was curious about the black trim on the ProX case you have - is it prone to chips/scratches?? I had an Odyssey black label mixer case in past and the trim got pretty beat up.
Here’s a link to the case (with controller combo). www.proaudiostar.com/pioneer-ddj-1000-prox-case-2.html?Google_Shopping&gclid=CjwKCAiAq8f-BRBtEiwAGr3Dga6mmtIRA8ibtGPWOgJOm4fIXnPjFWE2R5voC2lhmpsA5ODmD_79MRoC_YQQAvD_BwE I believe I say the model number of the case in the video :)
Excellent work, thank you for sharing. I have Ddj 800 with 2 sannheiser wiresless mics. Any issues with wireless mic reception or DMX. Where would you recommend placing wireless mics to make sure there are no issues.
Cool! I just used the half wave antennae in the rear of the case, as I show... but the ultimate solution would be to try to get them high up so that they always have line-of-sight to the wireless microphone (aka transmitter). :)
Hi Kevin! Great Video! I have some questions for you and i was hoping that perhaps you could share some light on these matters, presupposed that youve been using and testing the DDJ-1000 for recordbox yourself? Hotque buttons dont seem to want to start a track right after being loaded, and they also dont seem to work when there is a loop applied on that particular beat, any ideas why? Back in serato dj your loop stayed there untill you deactivated it.. no matter what other buttons you pushed. Second issue is the RCA master output on the ddj 1000 is creating stuttering, distorted cutsounds like as if it is being overamped when its not, when recording a video of any lenght with my phone through an TRRS adapter. Again, i didnt have any of these problems on my ddj SX with serato dj.. Any ideas? Thanks in advance and have a good day :)
Thanks for the video. I just picked up a ProX case and want to put my wireless mic under the controller as you did. Where are your antennas for the mic?
Hey Kevin nice work I’m doing something similar. A couple of questions, the stub thats in the foam for the quick connect, what’s it called or where did you get it and how did you install it 7:52
Sorry for the very late reply -- If you're still interested in the quick connect parts here's a quick video I just made for a friend - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oL2-1smgR-c.html
I have seen this video mutiple times really like the mods, my question is how did you get the gooseneck for the mic installed what parts did you use to fasten it to the foam. I think we can all agree having a great mic stand that doesn’t interfere with anything is a plus when we are at a gig. Hope to hear from you soon
Thanks Fleetwood! Hope your project goes well! I’m sorry that I don’t remember the exact size - I remember taking the mount base to the hardware store, along with my case measurements, to be sure I bought the best size
Awesome video and great content. I’m always skeptical on storing things with my controller as I don’t want the unit to get damaged. Have you had any issues? Thanks and be well
Hey thanks! I was super careful to ensure that everything was either fixed in place (Velcro or screwed in, etc) or had 0 wiggle room to bounce around in the case during transport. It worked well for me with no issues !
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures I've been looking for this information for months. I'm not gonna take my mixer for the first post corona event. I'm using the 1000srt, hopefully the mic on it will sound as good as your 1000!
Hey thanks Mark! No noticeable heat or effects from being too hot under there, even outside in the summer (though I try not to stay in direct sun for long with any gear :) )
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures thank you so much for getting back, I’m in the UK so we don’t really suffer with too much heat I think I’d keep the shelf rather than the stand but love everything wise you’ve done, I also see your iPad mount in another video which I also love, did you buy it online? Also the mic neck? I get some things might be different in the uk as in we might not be able to get the same things
@Kevin: If you could provide the part numbers for your mic stand and gooseneck mount, that would be awesome! I've been on chat with Sam Ash support, and they cannot seem to locate these items.
Great job. I would shorten the screws on the top of the case, that holds the laptop tray. You will save a couple of seconds, as they don't need to be that long.
How does the BLX microphone treat you? Interested in getting the same one...have heard a lot of complaints regarding drop outs though. is it pretty solid for you?
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures thank you for that! I recently bought a shure ULXS4 used for fairly cheap, havnt had a chance to use it yet, I plan on building that into my case but would like to have 2, just in case! So I was looking into doing one ULX and one BLX but maybe I'll bite the bullet and buy a second ULX for it and mount the antenna in the rear like you mentioned
I have a similar lap top stand but the pole that's drilled into the case is to big to close the top lid. Where did you get your stand from. I like the idea of closing the top lid and ready to go. Thanks

@@SmilestonesDJAdventuresHe did great work on it. You mention it was from a piece you found at Sam Ash's. Do you remember what the original piece was? Thanks for the reply.
Manny - I did it because 1) it locks tight and won’t pull out, and 2) some of the other case mods I saw did it so I thought it was the cool thing to do 😅
Hey! I really like MyDMXGo but it is not rock-solid reliable. I've found a good system that works for me and has been reliable and consistent, however many others haven't had the same luck. If you're techy and willing to deal with a few glitches here and there for an AWESOME and easy lighting control, then it could work for you!
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures Thanks for taking the time to reply. If you don’t mind, could you tell me the main issues you run into? I understand there’s a limit for distance of connectivity being that the wireless runs on the busy 2.4 frequency range.
Check out the Facebook group for the myDMX GO - it’s got several tips but also you can read about issues other folks have had. Here’s a post I made a few months back that lists some fixes I borrowed or figured out. Also I plan to do a full video on this topic on this channel soon! Posting this just as informational for folks having issues. After about a year of great luck right out of the box (no real issues), the mydmx GO started to drop out and act sporadically. My setup is pretty basic: iPad mounted to my controller case, mydmx GO inside case, Donner wireless DMX, two Chauvet Wash FX 2 ‘s and two ADJ Inno spot moving heads. After reading this group and elsewhere I did 5 things: 1. Used hardware manager from the Light Rider website on my MacBook to update the mydmx GO firmware - I looked and didn’t have the latest version 2. Used hardware manager to change the WiFi channel to 11. (I realize that some folks are scanning each venue and updating based on how crowded the channel is - might be a good practice) 3. Inserted a 2ft DMX cable between the mydmx GO and my Donner transmitter 4. Relocated the mydmx GO so that it is about 1 - 1.5 ft away from the wireless Donner transmitter and also the mydmx GO antenna is within line of site (and very close to) my iPad. 5. With a recent IOS update, my home WiFi network setting switch from manual to auto connect- I switched this back. Previously I made sure that all other WiFi networks were deleted or set to manual- no other settings seemed to be changed (Previously I had also set my iPad screen to stay on, and not go to sleep) I’ve now had 3 events without issues. In fact things seem better, because before now I would have to reset and reconnect if I left my iPad connected to the mydmx GO for a couple hours before using it - which happened a lot as I would arrive at a venue, setup, test, and then run ceremony/cocktail/dinner/etc all without using the light show. Hope this helps someone who like me loves mydmx GO but gets frustrated at intermittent performance!
