DJ Hixxy playing a '99 "trancecore" set at Helter Skelters night called "Decadance" at The Sanctuary, Milton Keynes, UK.
With MC Man Parris.
Recorded live on Saturday the 16th of October 1999, and ripped from my tape pack.
A lot of these tunes featured on Hixxy's "Bonkers 7" mix, and this was definately the best set of the night for me!!!
This is side A of the tape, be sure to check out side B too.......

"Decadance" was the second to last event Helter Skelter put on at The Sanctuary, the last one being New Years eve's event "The Millenium Jam"- Decadance was billed as Helter Skelters 10th birthday event, and was an absolutely wikkid night! Probably the best Skelter of the year.

Well fuck, forgot just how good this set is! Was there on the night and had an absolute blast! Lost the tape a long time ago and so, so glad to have found this. Completely agree on the below comments re Hixxy and trancecore - such a great sound!

In my opinion when Hixxy was about to jack in happy hardcore and stared producing the trance core sound he was at his creative best. These sets stood out a mile and were leaps and bounds ahead of its time. I must have played this tape to death when I had it. Thanks for the memories :-)

Magnets09 I totally agree with you. By '99 the happy hardcore rave scene was STALE; same DJ's, playing the same sets, in the same order, at the same time. At any all-nighter you were guaranteed to hear Heart of Gold and Shooting Star at least 6 times if not more! Hixxy has never been the best mixer but he's never been shy to try new styles out - he started playing gabba at the end of his sets in '98 but when he introduced trancecore in 1999 (both at raves and on his mix for Bonkers 7) it was such a breath of fresh air. This was the best set of the night, and hats off to Hixxy for breaking the mould

You can definately here UFO's production in Hixxys sets towards the end of that era. Anytime those two hit the studio you know its going to be good. I enjoyed some of the early raver baby label stuff they did but then it all went pants in the early 2000's and the true hardcore sound had gone for good! His B Trax label really showcased this sound and they are truly timeless masterpieces. A lot of respect to that man and that cant be said about many other pioneers of that genre!

Magnets09 Yeah man. UFO was massively underrated at this time, and (in my opinion) Chris Unknown was doing good stuff both live and producing as well. By 2000 I had no interest in Vibes, Slipmatt or Vinylgroover (to name a few) cos they were doing NOTHING but resting on their laurels! The early Raver-Baby stuff was exciting, but by 2003 I had stopped raving - a combination of getting old(er) and kids etc. I'm listening to this set while typing this, and even now I'm bopping while typing :-)

what a set, if u ask me this set and the cover up albums kick started the new form of hardcore, the raver baby etc i stopped listening to hardcore after about 2004. but classics like this never grow old. hixxy as always is the daddy
