i been spinning since 1985,,,i give him credit, yes he is basically throwing in pre-mixed versions of different tracks and doing some basic scratching techniques but he is marketing himself like a pro. its his name not his talent. and he is earning millions ride the wave bro and keep earning good for you,,,i dont hate,,,,for god sakes paris hilton earns millions DJ'ING as well,,,
Dj pauly d is one of many GOATS that still dj without fills like the dj on young money. Matter fact him and swizz beatz are two who can still put it on the map. Dj Khalid ain't got nothing like these guys. You sleep son!
I started learning djing 3 days ago, and this video makes me feel better about my progression. If this was the REAL standard to dj, I would be top 100 lol.
Fuck that, being a dj takes musical knowledge. That's why best DJs are also music producers. And the crap he's playing isn't even real club dance music. What a shame. plus his notes are waaaay off. I don't even think he understands basic music theory.
2:06 he completely knocks the needle off the record yet the "yeeeaahhh boyyy" that he's mixing continues. All that mixing and this guy only checked his headphones twice? Okay.He keeps going to his laptop yet doesn't move anything at all. No scrolling no activity whatsoever. I'm shocked that he didn't just go ahead and check his Twitter or that his screen went on sleep mode. Wait maybe that's why he keeps fiddling with his laptop yet pressing nothing! So it won't turn off.Does anybody else think this is fishy? Or are you just gonna continue to fist pump?
To clear the air for all of you non djs on here, it's pretty simple what happened at 2:06! He has an edit of Rihanna -Rude Boy on the left deck that has the "Yeah Boy" vocal on it. So he keeps scratching that "Yeah Boy" point of the same track on the ride deck! Now at 2:06 he has a major fuckup and the needle slips off of the record, BUT he is already using the joystick button on his mixer with instant doubles in Serato to copy the same exact track and point from the right deck to the left deck. He's using a Rane 57 mixer and this is easily noticeable by watching how he hits the joystick button to the left after every time he's done scratching, and when he messing with his computer, you can see that he's arrowing down to the next track and hitting shift+right to load a track onto the right deck. So is he actually Djing live? YES, obvisouly! Does he suck? YES!!!
Brandon Ah There it is. That's the best explanation anyone can give. Funny thing is that I don't even think he sucks. I don't much like scratching so all that scratching and jumping from track to track when you have a full dance floor is annoying to me from any dj. Setting that bias against scratching aside, if you have a full dance floor packed with females and you're dropping bangers on the 1 and working the crowd, you're pretty much doing a good job at that point.
Dude needs to stop trying to scratch . Just focus on mixing music right in general , by going back to basics & focus on various artist original vynil & mix it up by ear. Just my opinion.
Thank you. Have you heard his podcast? He hides all of the transitions behind Facebook adverts. "Make sure to like David Guetta on Facebook" and then boom - a new song is playing. I was so pissed off when I heard his shit.
TECHNOLOGY RULES .........This guy sucks no matter what he is using. because he is not musical or rhythmical or have any fucking talent. the mashup at begining is not even in key witch today there is absulutlety no excuse for. His scratching is child like and barbaric and he generally just fails as a DJ. BTW anyone that complains about technology didn't dj in the 90's and hasnt a fucking clue. I'm Turntabilist turned button pusher. I dont even DJ with headphones anymore because cueing is for pussys. Know your tunes know your music press a button in time have good musical taste. be done with it...
memorize the song or watch the waveform, transition on drops etc. mainly just know the music well, It helps if your a musician. press the play button on the down beat using sync. besides there is only going to be 4 or 5 optimal times to layer a new song in. If you stick with chunks of 8 16 bars etc since everyone makes there music like that example deadmau5 128 has a 16 bar intro wolf gang 128 has a 16 bar outro press play on deadmau5 on the downbeat of wolfgang outro start to crossfade if the 2 songs are in key you will make a perfect transition. Don't be tarded cueing is for turntables and dumb asses that want to do it manualy on some shity jog wheel. spare your self the trouble. Use the sink button plan your sets.
that is really bad advice though. Ok sure the sync button is great but some ppl like doing live mashups and if you wanna try to pull something off on the spot sometimes you have to use cue. You can just say that its for pussies lol. Not every dj likes to do boring song fades. If that was all the dj wanted to do headphones would have stopped being used ages ago. And i bet your going to say that its retarded to not plan your sets. Well i disagree. If you want to make a good memorable set you have to be able to sense what the crowd is feeling. Sure a little planning is great but to the extent that you don't need to use headphones is a bit stupid.
I don't think you get quite get it... you can still do mash ups with my method and in fact i gave quite good advice as to how to DJ headphone less. I can also shoot off the hip all night using my method. I have been DJ for 20 years. I don't care how you do it I know how i do it and too me headphones are useless and for newbies..If you need them cool if you don't join the I'm not a pussy club. A planed set will always be better than a non planned because in life anything planned yields better results. you don't build a house with out a plan ....you don't play a song in a band with out rehearsing it first. DJing blind can be fun but it can also lead to a giant train wreck. i will use headphones from time to time if i really need to hear the cue. If you want to make a good memorable set have good taste in music and throw bangers at them until they get up and dance. I've always hated the read the room bullshit....maybe people aren't dancing because your music taste is terrible. Once again If you know your music and you know music theory and you set cue points for your tracks.. Then in today's age there is absolutely no need for headphones. Your lack of understanding is not me giving bad advice its you fearing what i say because its different.
Can anyone please tell me the music that starts at 1:00 ??? I've been looking for it for a long time, I'm talking about the backround music not the "keep it real" or the crappy music he's mixing
So when hes twisting knobs, hitting this key, hitting that button, hes really not doing anything at all, but looking like hes doing something......correct?
Is that set pre-recorded?? he's only using one turntable, even when he flicks the crossfader over from side to side its still the same tune playing... between 2:00-2:14 he knocks the needle off the turntable but you can still hear scratching noises... WTF did i just watch???
