Quik is an extremely talented and SERIOUSLY underrated individual. I hope the industry don't wait til he's dead to highlight and honor this Brutha's body of work. Y'all know how they do...
It would be so good. He can have 'G-One' due some uptempo tracks with Robert 'Fonksta' Bacon on a couple of tracks. It would be so good. He produced a jazz track for a jazz artist named Michael 'Patches' Stewart called 'Blow' and it was super dope.

you won't ever see no other rapper rock out like this with a live band.....The crazy part is he could've went around to all those different instruments and played each one. He has more talent in his pinky finger than most rappers in their whole body and completely gets slept on.........Westcoast luv and to me Quik is one of the GOAT's!
I know that you realize that rappers have rocked with live bands before and during Quiks hot time. Hammer had a damn Circus on stage google Felton Pilot from ConFunkshun yes quick is a DJ, musician, rapper and producer of course I have the utmost respect for his talent I'm certainly a big fan.. the list goes on. Hip Hop in the beginning was live musicians. Suga Hill Gang had musicians in the studio DJ's became the musicians over time.

The set includes old-school Quik classics ("Tonight," "Born and Raised in Compton") alongside later material, showcasing the DJ/MC's facility with arrangements as well as his skills on the mic. Appearances by Chingy, Nate Dogg, B-Real, and a 12-piece band add icing to the cake.
I remember buying a ticket to see Quik at the H.O.B. because the ad said "with a live band!". I just saw him the month before, but rationalized buying tickets because I couldn't MISS seeing him with a band...yet he showed up with only a pair of turntables. Why didn't I see this??? You owe me one, Quik :P
I work at a rest home for old men and one of the old white residents called me over one day and he said "look at the cd's I bought at a yards sale down the street". I looked at his cd's and I saw that he had gotten Dj Quiks house of blues lol I couldnt stop laughing lol Didnt see that coming haha..He was about 75 years old lol
DJ Quik has to be the most understated, underappreciated, and underrepresented MC of all time. His contribution to Hip Hop is like Prince to Funk. He is a Hall of Famer for sure!
Unsung led me here, to find DJ Q because when he was doing his thing, there was so much going on in hip hop that attention was deflected from him. He's genius! Thanks for the posting!
Quik is one of the artists that do not care about the money or glamour of the music industry. He is just a creative that loves music and only focused on his craft. It’s so rare in Hip Hop. That’s why he is so appreciated.
this dude made it out alive through compton as a piru in the height of the bangin days, also check the red tape by him , real OG whats good homie from the uk
I've been sleeping always heard the name never seen this guy perform or really heard his flow, this guy is REAL, I was listening to his interviews and said he is very intelligent. and after i heard his call out Suge I said this brotha is street.
Hakeem Shakur...yeah, Quik is a very talented dude, made some dope music but let's just be real, ain't nothing godly about his lifestyle and his music....but I guess that depends on what you call "godly".

LOVE DJ Quik. Growing up I was the only one at school who loved this stuff, and thought maybe it was lame and everybody knew it except me. Years later I realize he was THE BEST and I just lived with a bunch of hicks in a tiny town.
DJ Quick is so relaxed he is full of the spirit of the creator surely his mission is like Jesus he came in groups of the people and healed them from within, get at me ,I'm from Compton Too

A few years back Quik was doing a show in my town and few hours before the show I was driving around downtown and was making a right turn when a big group of people started crossing the street I almost started honking cause it was during a red light, but there were like 20 big ass dudes all wearing red then right in the middle of all of them was DJ Quik 🤣 so glad just let them cross without honking cause they looked scary af...anyway Quik did amazing performance that night and its still top 5 concerts I've ever been too
