Checking back in to say I listen to this every. Damn. Day. International players anthem when I dream about love and this when I accept what really is. ❤️
RIP to Pimp C, Dj Screw and of course the recently deceased Mr. 3-2 who has the first verse on this legendary and very sadly true song. "so if you got some loved ones love them now cuz God might just call them home....and one day your here the next day your gone"-Pimp C "mama kicked me out at only 14 so I started selling crak cocane, and xodeine. I gotta make some paper, gotta make it quick, see I'm a juvenile but they don't know who they messing with, my mommas only son and I live everyday like its the last one."
I love how he let that beat ride... He's the originator of an intricate sound that is often imitated but never duplicated! One of the greatest DJs EVER. Not just chopped and screwed. His ability to transition and play with the sounds and different parts of songs is insane. All while he was doing this on the spot.
+Wompa Stompa I dunno' if that's the case...considering that the track that follows this is the explicit version of 2Pac's "Picture Me Rollin'". The censored version of this track has a better flow for chopping shit up. The explicit version is choppy.
The UGK Ridin’ Dirty LP was a censored 2xLP till it got reissued two years ago. The new one is fucked too. The lyric sheet says “Comin’ down in Fleetwood Mac”. LOL
+Wavyy Max Goldie west coast music was club music, down South, Pimp started the whole sampling real Vandross, Aaron Neville, Pendergrass, Isley, Bootsy, etc. UGK was heavily revolved around blues and soul. Oldies. meanwhile east coast was just mixing records and scratching and sounds for their beats, west coast was a lot of key boarding, down South live musicians in the studio with real vocalists. it's not comparable. country rap tunes. and Z-Ro the only one who ain't touched that new generation. Beans N Kornbread keep Ro on the Pimp C style
Driving down the road, let the beat run, gets me right everytime. My introduction to this song came from CDs (I still have) from the original Screw Shop in Screwston. Love it and and dig all the folks here banging together. Bang Screw, that’s what Southside players do.
