@@arniebmx What would that have to do with crappy firmware and metadata being lost when using a core feature of the camera? (as if the aluminium finish of the Action 2 could take any action at all.. ffs)

I have every model of GoPro from 7 to 10 and dji action 2. For beginners, dji action 2 is way easier to use through their app and on the camera itself, it also has a better touch screen.

the 3 is really a different camera and a mix between the 1 and the 2. The updates for the 3 are really action-cam oriented. I think the action cam 2 was begged for due to the reality of the videography market, vlogging and so on, and I think this market needs to be further realized by Shenzhen as well as larger companies. While action cams are a huge seller that might sell units to many traditionally non-videography oriented people who just want to capture their sport of whatever variation. But there's a growing segment of people who want to document their travels, sights, reflections; often those making a "fly on the wall" experience for the viewer. Sony has done extremely well selling the ZV-1 and the ZV-1 directly applies to this market segment that I'm talking about. But we're also at the point where vlogging cameras don't all need to follow the model of the DSLR/compact camera world, and that's where DJI has the Action 2 and the Osmo pocket banging on the door. In terms of Action 2 vs 3 -- Bigger screen so that is nice, longer internal battery so that is nice, more resistant to temps and elements, so that's nice, but pretty much none of those things replace the functionality of the Action 2 for people who aren't hiking fridgid mountains or surfing -- and for those rather uninhibited by the lil ol external battery. And, when it comes down to it -- and regardless of durability -- the Action 2 is the sneakier camera. If you want to wear it, it's smaller. If you are traveling, it's smaller. And if you don't have much mounting room to work smaller is going to be better. As some one else said -- getting hot and things like that don't seem to be perfect about the Action 2. The Action 3 is going to prove to be a better action camera than the Action 2 in most use-case scenarios. But the Action 3 is probably not as good of a travel/vlogging camera beyond it's bigger screen, so it doesn't make sense for all potential buyers to simply buy the Action 3 because it's newer*; at the given moment, there's a use-case dilemma and the Action 2 may be a better option in some ways. Also, I don't think I understand dual screens on the new model. While they may not have been able to charge more for the Action 3 without stuff like the dual screens, I think a lot of action-camera people have expressed over the years that there's something nice about just hitting a button and recording because the user is trying to live in the moment, and not think about their experience from a videography standpoint. So I don't understand the decision on screens. Dual screens makes considerably more sense if they were to rehash the Action 2 and make it more of a vehicle for minimalist vlogging. People using action cameras can't look at one screen, why are there two?

I might get one now they're cheaper (and you can pick up barely used ones for really good money). I feel like most of the complaints come from people wanting 4k all the time (or bizarrely people filming going through the airport at 4k 120). I think I'd just stick to 1080p 30. I haven't got the means or desire to work with anything more and I only realised recently that I've been watching most of my YT videos at 720. I didn't really notice. I'd like to think that at 1080 30fps most of this stuff goes away.

Hi, I'm curious what you mean about "heat issues were always related to bad shooting choices" I have tried everything to prevent mine from overheating, but nothing works other than shooting at 1080 which in my opinion, defeats the purpose of this cam.
