Thanks for taking the time to make the video. How about comparing the image quality of the Air 3 1/1.3" sensor vs the 1" sensor of the 2S (for video AND photos) and tell us which one you like best and give specific reasons why. That would give unique value to your channel.
I just bought the Air 3 to upgrade from my Air 2S and the short answer is that the Air 3 is better for video and the 2S has more dynamic range for stills. Sensor size matters.
I will be buying this drone. I need the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance. I was concerned about the 1" down to 1/1.3 But investigations revealed that the 1" is actually about 13mm long at the base, and the 1/1.3 is about 10mm at the base. About a 20% difference. From footage now on YT, very hard to see much difference at all. Certainly not enough to kill off me buying it.
There is not a major difference. The medium tele sensor is the standout feature in my opinion. If you’re wanting to get the Air 3 then I do have an exclusive subscribers combo available: www.d1store.com.au/mobile/packages/dji-air-3-subscribers-combo-dji-rc-2
I don’t know, hopefully not. I think the Mavic 3 Series takes that spot. I have an exclusive Air 3 subscribers combo available: www.d1store.com.au/mobile/packages/dji-air-3-subscribers-combo-dji-rc-2
Good comparsion! 👍 But... Mavic Air 2s is still the best drone ever for me! I have now second MA2s after totally damage my first one (brave flights 😅) Small, fast, durable, insane quality drone! ❤❤❤❤
For sure air2s exceeded all my expectations, drone has quality in everything, just the battery that doesn't last that long, but it has 3 batteries so I don't need it 😊
I do like how the video looks on the Air 3, I still prefer the air 2S, I was hoping for an extended battery. Who knows, maybe the air 3 would grow on me in time. I really like the battery life on the new drone, I think it's impressive. I was hoping DJI would do something like that for the A2S, but I guess they just saved that for something new. Thanks for sharing Dan, and I'll see you in the next video. 👍👍👍
I did 😁 Thanks for the support. I also have an epic drone deal for subscribers on the D1 Store: www.d1store.com.au/mobile/packages/dji-air-3-subscribers-combo-dji-rc-2
Thanks Dan ! Exactly the video I was looking for. Very good explanations and straight to the point and precise ! ❤ Cannot wait to purchase this drone !! Amazing functionalities !!
The improvement to the image quality is noticeable in my experience. I hear what you’re saying but the advancement to the sensor/camera technology makes a big difference.
I have the Air 2s and its a great product 👌. But the flight time not up to the price. The Air 3 has a better signal and better batteries and much better range it seems. May have to sell my Air 2s and upgrade to the Air 3 ??
Everyone says how great the rc control was not this one makes it “slow and poor signal “ before it could do no wrong. I get the drone is great but these videos almost seems like they were all forced to script it the same way. Looking forward to unique videos about the air 3
I just got the the air2s fly more combo slightly used, only one, for $800. I got a hard suitcase thing for it too in that bundle, 128GB sd card and landing pad. That's a hell of a deal that I couldn't pass up. Upgrade for me from the mini 1
I don’t need all these features. I only fly by myself, this looks better and is easier than learning all these features. The only thing I need is a Tripod Mode and longer controller sticks. Inside or in narrow spaces the super fast Air 2 s is even in cine mode so fn fast.
Dji should have produced the 2S with same type of camera it has, but with electronic variable aperture. Also with a battery durability of 45 min. And ocusync 4. It is basically the only middle size drone, and that is attractive.
its more bright lens, much brighter than in Air 2S. I saw the stream that shows in low light that Air 3 kick ass of mavic 3 classic, and the others I dont even mention :D Mayby new algorithm + bright lens. F1.7 its big difference over F2.8 in Air2s "Image Sensor Wide-Angle Camera: 1/1.3-inch CMOS, Effective Pixels: 48 MP Medium Tele Camera: 1/1.3-inch CMOS, Effective Pixels: 48 MP| Is it really 48mpx when you make normal photos or its special mode than can be 48mpx. Because if its 48mpx I directly order it :D I was wondering about mavic 3 classic but I think its too big, but the picture for photos its finally nice and creamy :D Smb know about normal mode for shooting photos ? I heard its 12mpx Ok I found it "Still Photography Modes Wide-Angle Camera Single Shot: 12 MP and 48 MP Burst Shooting: 12 MP, 3/5/7 frames; 48 MP, 3 frames Automatic Exposure Bracketing (AEB): 12 MP, 3/5 frames; 48 MP, 3 frames at 0.7 EV step Timed: 12 MP, 2/3/5/7/10/15/20/30/60 s; 48 MP, 5/7/10/15/20/30/60 s" "ISO Range Photo 100-6400 (12 MP) 100-3200 (48 MP)" "Shutter Speed Wide-Angle Camera 12MP Photo: 1/16000-2 s (2.5-8 s for simulated long exposure) 48MP Photo: 1/8000-2 s" So setting 48mpx like a normal resolution makes dron shutter speed lower and ISO cannot go so high like in 12mpx. And burst shooting its slower little bit. If I am wrong, please correct me ;) But i think very serious to buy it
Awesome! If you’re in Australia then I have an Air 3 subscriber combo available: www.d1store.com.au/mobile/packages/dji-air-3-subscribers-combo-dji-rc-2
Whenever I hear a drone has waypoints and then I realize there's an asterisk -- hyperlapse only, that is always disappointing. I've used waypoints on my Evo 1 for taking photos at specific locations, over time, as well as video clips. Hyperlapse waypoints are great, but not really useful for construction projects, when I need just a few photos.
The Air 3 has a comprehensive waypoints system where you can plan out missions. It is a lot more advanced than the waypoints mode exclusively available for hyperlapses on the Air 2 Series.
Thanks, Dan. Appreciate your overview. I won't be buying the Air 3, but I will be interested to see the exact horizontal and vertical angles the obstacle sensors have (when DJI make available the Air 3 User Guide on their website). Is there much of a reduction in noise from the Air 2/2S?
Did i miss it or you never mentioned the Air 2 S has 1'' sensor and 5.4k resolution ? It seems these info would be important to be ''missed'' from a comparison video..
I did mention this, I still think that the Air 3 camera is slightly better. The advancement in sensor technology makes a big difference even though the sensors are smaller.
Can the Air 3 still sense upwards? I know that the Air 2s can because it's got 2 sensors going up, but I don't know if the Air 3 still can. (I didn't actually watch the entire vid, I just came here to comment and ask this question, so if you already said it in the vid, yeah)
@@DansTubeTV Thanks, theres a real difference in opinions on the new DJIs between the west and the Chinese. I asked my cousin (Chinese) about the new drones and he said that DJI doesn't really pay too much attention to the small details for the consumers anymore since they are making drones for the army, and they can get money without consumers anymore, so the new drones are less fine tuned like a mid sequal to a really good movie.
@@DansTubeTV Or maybe the new drones are just not as big improvements from the previous, as the previous (Air 2's and 2s's) were to the OG's (Mavic pro1s)
its such a hard drone to justify for the price, because I can get the air2s fly more combo refurbished from dji for around 850, or get the air 3 that starts at 1100 and no refurbished options yet, but there are so many benefits of the air 3
I don’t know if that is going to happen, I think that the Air 3 is a significant improvement. I have exclusive Air 3 subscriber combos available: www.d1store.com.au/mobile/packages/dji-air-3-subscribers-combo-dji-rc-2
From all the reviews that have landed today on YT, the performance of the 1/1.3 camera has been a big surprise. The consensus appears to include (among other improvements) 1) The colour profile and exposure balancing have been improved over the Air 2S and the Mini 3 Pro, 2) the low light capability (incl Night Mode) is a big improvement over the Mini 3 Pro, 3) The Quad Bayer 48MP photos on the 12 MP cameras are a real step up from DJI's previous implementation, with the photo detail holding up much better when zooming in, 4) the speed, including ascent & descent, is real improvement. I'd recommend you thoroughly check-out the evaluations of the drone. I won't be getting one myself, both for money reasons and the fact I'm very happy with my M3 (original & standard version).
It would be interesting to know the percentages of how people view drone footage in general. If you’re watching on your phone, RU-vid, TikTok and instagram then you aren’t going to notice any difference in the size sensor used. Big 4k tv and from what I’ve seen so far, and it’s early days yet, the footage from both the air3s cameras look fantastic.
The advancement in sensor/camera technology is noticeable. Even though this is a 1/1.3” sensor, I would say that it matches the quality of the Air 2S and slightly improves on it in most scenarios. I do have some exclusive Air 3 subscriber combos if you’re interested: www.d1store.com.au/mobile/packages/dji-air-3-subscribers-combo-dji-rc-2
its noticeable because its a stacked sensor on the air3 as apposed to the backlit on the 2s. sure its a bigger sensor on the 2s, but the advantages of a stacked sensor make up for the smaller sensor. and for videography, its a no brainer. stacked all the way!@@DansTubeTV
about the vertical mode. Is the framing guide only applicable on view, and not 'already cropped" file? I wanna know if I can still have the fill 16:9 view of the video
I want to get an AIR 3, but with all the new rules coming out this Sept in the US, it's pretty much illegal to fly these anywhere. So I don't want to risk loosing a $2k quad to the cops plus fines. A friend of mine was flying his sub 250gm mini 3 pro across the street from a collage not over that property and he was stopped by campus police and given a $200 fine. That was illegal but laws don't matter anymore in this country.
That sucks, I would suggest flying in remote areas, or spots away from people. It is not fun to fly in populated areas anywhere. There is nothing going on.
Upgrading from the air 2s to the air 3 is a little downgrade, first the air 2s records 5.4k and the air 3 only records 4k, second the air 3 is bigger making it not transportable than the air 2s, third the air 3 feels more plasticity than the air 2s
I think Air 2S really powerfull drone with 1 inch sensor. That's why they stoped the production early. There was no need to buy Mavic 3 for average consumers.
And that’s why the don’t implement the Tripod Mode, even Phillip Bloom is begging them and made a petition. No, the won’t do this. And why? The Air 2S is completely a pro drone and no videographer needs the features of the Air 3. You don’t need auto pilot Programms you need a drone that is precisely to fly and the Air 2S with its 5m/ in Cine Mode isn’t flyable in tight spaces compared to the 1m/s in older ones or after firmware update in the Mini 3 Pro. There is only one reason, the pros beging for slower drones and don’t need more than the Air 2S. So they implemented it in the newer ones, which gives you no real advantages compared to the Air 2 s. I don’t need automatic fly modes, I think zoom is nice but I don’t need it, I can go around the short flight time with planning and spare batteries and my image and video quality is top notch. Just compare the Air 2 s with the much higher prices Mini 3 Pro, it looks ugly. Your comment is absolutely right, I just wanted to add, that this is the reason they don’t implement the Tripod Mode. For example I crashed my Air 2S due tongue short sticks and the way too fast slowest mode and I am now looking for a drone under 1k with tripod mode. The Mavic 2 versions are noticeably worse in video quality. The Mini 3 Pro has a terrible quality and the Mavic 3 is not better regarding the outcome of the footage. So every pro, would get the Air 2 s if it would be with Tripod Mode. Right now I see on eBay nearly mint Air 2S with fly more combo going away for 550-650 euro. This is nothing compared to, what this drone is capable of and I am thinking of buying one again but this time try to use a hack, which makes the cine mode from 5m/s to 1.5 m/s.
I will have to look into that when I fly next. I would assume that it would be 9x on the Air 3 and 3x on the Air 2S but I could be wrong. Digital zoom is almost unusable though. I would suggest the 3x native lens on the Air 3.
For the photo mavic air 2S is much better !! AIR 3 is a huge downgrade !! Air 2s : 20 mpx and 3:2 1" sensor Air 3 : only 12 mpx and 1/1.3 ridiculous square sensor
They are both great drones, the Air 3 takes the crown in most situations. The Air 2S might have the better camera though, check out my side by side comparison: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oTeEDeWeGBM.html
People should wait for the air 3.s. With the bigger camera,. And You don't get 46 minutes on the battery. You will get around 35 Minutes Maybe less Depending on the winds. Don't go by with DJI tells you. They're always wrong with The Times Regarding flight times. It will depend on the winds. And other factors.😅
Air 3 seems like a real winner for a home who can afford the upgrade. The camera isn’t true 48mp tho. Kinda of irked how many people aren’t noting the 12mp photos enhanced to 48. Huge files for minimal gain.
Yeah, it is definitely something that isn’t clearly marketed unfortunately. If you are interested in the Air 3 then check out my subscribers combo: www.d1store.com.au/mobile/packages/dji-air-3-subscribers-combo-dji-rc-2
I don’t get paid by DJI. I use this drone all of the time and have been obsessed with the medium tele photo sensor, I’ve been using 4K @ 100fps way too much. I would be honest if this drone was not good.
Waiting for a more detailed review of tracking prowess. Looking at a Skydio2 for motorcycle footage and its great obstacle avoidance. A comparison with Air 3 would be useful. I already have an Air 2s.
Air 2s is the better of the 2 in day time shots in video and specially stills. Zoom lens could be very useful in a drone though if you wanna be stealthy and don't wanna be noticed or heard in quite areas by people or wildlife and take good shots
The zoom lens with 4K @ 100fps is an untouchable option that I use on the Air 3 all of the time. The Air 2S is still a great drone and one of my favourites.
