Thanks for sharing, Would be great to show how the control surface 6 channels of an aircraft would be connected to the dji air unit to use the dji transmitter to fly a fixed wing airplane. Or maybe you can make a video on how to power the dji air unit in case going to use a spektrum tx and rx , could the AU be powered from the rx or the 6s Lipo balance lead? Thanks. No idea what is the flight control since it is not used in fixed wing aircrafts.
Very interesting video for me because my quads are analog so I'm researching how to install Air units or I may just go ahead and buy a quad with the unit installed. I'm not very good at soldering and some of those pads on the FC are really tiny...Ugh!✈️🐾
I liked your video. I am more fixed wing and new to the fpv and have the dji caddx Vista along with dji goggles 2. Need more info of the powering the matek F722 HD to ready to use. I have the goggles set up by dji, but not the caddx, because of some confusion of wiring and power placement if I can get a little help...😏
I bought this unit to use as a stand alone fpv platform on an airplane. I don't have a flight controller I'll be using just the receiver and power lead to power on the camera. Will that work?
1:45 If i wanted to power it directly without a flight controller (for use on an RC car), should i connect the red cable to the red lipo cable, and black to black? That might be a dumb question, but I noticed you said that RX goes to TX and vice versa (which confuses the heck out of me -- I still don't get the logic), so I wanted to check.
I have this exact same flight controller and I had to switch the UART wires (grey and white wires) around the other way to get the OSD to work. Also I wired up the power to the 9V regulator on the board and that also works.
I was going to say, you should see much more consistent performance powered from a regulator, and since you are already having to take signal wires to the flight controller, having power and ground coming from the flight controller gives the system a common ground so you don’t run into noise or osd issues. Powering from vbatt allows all the system noise into the vtx first, and then carries all that noise to the flight controller instead of away from it. Brown outs on the 9v reg means it’s a bad 9v reg.
Hey how you doing, I have a dji m600 with a lightbridge setup on it. I haven’t been able to see no video out of the camera on the app and both lights are green. So I’m about to replace it with this fpv air unit. Can you inform me if I have to do this same thing??
2 Questions. I am using a T-Motor F7 55A DJI Stack and TBS Crossfire Nano RX. I used the wiring harness that connects the Air Unit directly to the FC (plug-n-play). I de-pinned the Brown and Yellow wires because I am not using the DJI Controller. I connected the TBS Nano RX to a 5V, Gnd, T5, and R5 pad on the FC. Because the FC is designed for DJI and is 6S capable I shouldn't need a regulator as the wiring harness connects into the FC on a Gnd and 10V connection. Am I right in my thinking and approach. The link to the T-motor Stack is attached. My second question. Your Betaflight setup was kinda confusing because I believe you were giving information about using either the TBS or DJI Controller. In my case, I just need to select UART 2 Configuration/MSP - ON and UART 5 Serial RX - ON. Thanks for the help. uav-en.tmotor.com/html/2019/FlightControllers_1218/310.html
I got the latency goggles and the fpv air unit, and I have a DJI m600 or s1000 which ever. The lightbridge system is not working it shows a black screen when I’m logged into the app. So I bought the setup your describing and I won’t to install it on the m600. Can you tell me where to place the wires ??
I have a 5 inch quad and i get: VTX not setup correctly. I have Kakute F7 mini V3 and dji air unit and controll it with tbs crossfire. any idea how to fix the vtx problem? the air unit it connects with fast connectors (plugs) and its not soldered to an T2 or T3 etc. if im bad at explaining just ask questions its ok :) And when im flying the quad in acro mode it behaves like im in horison mode that is also an issue i have with it.
Question. Building a quad using the DJI combo, goggles, transmitter and air unit with a Momba 405 DJI stack. Am I right if the only soldering I’m doing is for the battery leads and motors?
What’s up buddy need help man.... I can’t get the osd to work I have done all the steps you have posted which helped a lot I thought it was the air unit and I got another one and same thing the only thing I can get it to do is the step in the CLI I can’t get it to turn one please please please help I’m going nuts.... thank you in advance
Thank you for this . Any chance of some advice ? I built a 3inch using mini f7 plug n play with dji air unit after building i powered up with a smoke stopper lol just in case everything is perfect powers on normal cable from fc to air unit is plugged in all is good but no video or remote control ? Though the goggles i can navigate the menus ? Not sure if that matters i tested the air unit in another drone and works perfect video and powers up motors etc ? Any ideas i really appreciate your time thank you
Your flight controller has regulated 9V, why didn't you solder to that instead of the battery? Voltage range for the Air Unit is 7.4-17.6V. Is there a reason for for soldering directly to the battery instead of the 9V on the FC?
@@ViperFPV Gotcha, I had seen several other tutorials and they had an 8V pad that they were soldering to. I took your advice and soldered directly to the battery pads.
Mr Viper, I have Mamba F722 mini. After firmware v4.1.5 has 6 Uarts, are: Uart1 to Receiver Frsky, Uart2 to ESC Telemetry, Uart3 to Smart Audio VTX, Uart4 free Uart5 to GPS, Uart6 free (ex TBS Nano) I will install Caddx Vista. Please give me inform. Where UART for connect Rx Tx cable air unit?
Uart 4 since it’s the only free one you have. But you can always do a soft serial and put smartaudio on it and then use uart 3 so you have one still free.
OK so question I see you have a cap on your arm your power wires is that for you to be able to run 6S because I have a 5 inch quad and I’m trying to run 6S and I have the DJI air unit and every time I plug in my battery that is 6S the camera freaks the fuck out soooo I was told I either needed that or I either needed a BEC can u help me out lol
Hey man, I am new to FPV drones (with regards to building) but an experience commercially qualified drone pilot and I need some help. You talk about an BEC regulator to get the DJI kit to work. Could you please send me some links for push me in the correct direction please. Will be using this video when I'm building mine as looking at getting an Iflight s6 but want the DJI set up.
I am a total noob doing a first build and seem to have chosen every possible challenge with my component selections... I am running a Mamba F722, like in this video and looking to connect a DJI for video feed and OSD info. My RX is the new Spektrum SPM4650 SRXL2 serial RX and it’s connected to UART 6 (TX tab) for Serial communication and is working fine. You have used UART 6 in this video as well ... As I don’t plan on changing radio gear at this time. Can either my RX or the Air Unit go on a different UART and still work / provide OSD data to the goggles?
Viper_FPV thanks 👍🏻 I think I might try and remove the bulky aluminum case off the air unit to save some space and try and mount the 2 x internal DJI boards directly into the quad somehow. Does not seem like anyone has tried this from what I have found. Could be because of heat issues as the case seems to have some cooling fins. We will see...
Aerial Clone not sure what you mean by the tx3 but regarding why I did not use 9v pad because the 9v pad is only rated for like a amp and the air unit draws more than that
@@ViperFPV I meant the UART3 for the vtx. I thougt the 9V was there for the Air Unit :/ and the UART6 is for telemetry in case you want to use it.I have the same FC and I switch to digital now that's why I am asking :P
What i am stil missing is a video about filters with the dji system. As we do not need filters for analog feed, but only a good flying quad as dji system gives best quality image possible.
Hi great vid I have a question I can't seem to find online maybe you can help I'm looking to buy a ready made drone from banggood with a dji air unit build in but could I use normal goggles or does it only work with dji goggles? Anyways thanks for you time ✌
Crypto Turk that’s a 400-500 dollar commitment for the goggles. For my personal experience the DJI goggles image is amazing. If u plan on racing I would not recommend it tho due to latency and weights of the units.
@@ViperFPV is definitely a big purchase for sure I'm stuck between buying one with air unit or without one and use an insta 360 or gopro I think either way its gonna add up. I'm not looking to race as such more videos making and freestyle. Just trying to find the right balance for the right price no point wasting money at the start I was even looking at dji mavic air 2 but won't be able to get the good freestyle shots 🤔 decisions decisions lol
Viper_FPV nah it’s a simple wing I’ve made from scratch so far I have the servos, motor, esc, receiver for the remote and battery wired up... I’m new to fpv
Viper - do you have any experience w. the DJI FPV Goggles/ Air Unit / DJI RC Controller? I have an iFlight MegaBee, configured from the factory w. the DJI Air Unit, connected to the controller board (no receiver) which I've linked to my Goggles and DJI RC Controller .. but cannot get BetaFlight to connect and cannot get the motors to arm/turn on ... Now almost a week w. DJI tech support and iFlight tech support .. and both point to the other company and neither has a clue how to configure w. BetaFlight or why the Air Unit will not connect .. whether power is applied to the drone or not ... VERY frustrating. Maybe some of your other subscribers have run into this problem and found a solution ... Thanks!
I connected my air unit today to quad, activated it and powered up the quad did the first flight check. Had to change propellor direction, after that the air unit won't turn on anymore, tried connecting to a direct power supply but its still not working. Any one out there had the same trouble?
Got it Hey I’m trying to hook up the dji system to my diatone 369 board.. it’s a F7 I want to use the dji radio so I hooked the yellow wire to the sbus.. it’s not working So then I tried hooking it to my diatone cube which has the mamba 411 something or other board Still isn’t working I don’t get any level change on the receiver tab Any suggestions?
Hello from Spain, please I would like to ask you a question: is it possible to connect this system to an MJXBugs8? by connecting only the power and would my glasses receive the signal? Thank you very much for your videos and greetings.
