Ha ha! I got the drone last Friday but it rained quite a bit recently. I finished the video late Tuesday. It was hard not to join in when all of the other channels were talking about the rumors and leaks.
Ed, Very good testing and review of the new Mavic 2 Zoom! Great to see you were able to get your hands on a prerelease of the product. Will be looking forward to your future reviews on these new drones, Thanks!
When I had bought Mavic Pro last year, still remember , your videos / tutorials regarding Mavic Pro really helped me a lot 👍🏼😊 Glad to see now you are showing this upgraded one now 👌🏻👌🏻 Thanks a lot
I really appreciate the honest review. I think most people hold back when they are among the few that get advance devices for review. I like that you not only showed off the new features but also included the commentary at the end about some of the shortcomings. It was a very helpful video that inspired me to upgrade to this latest release from DJI.
I was on the fence regarding the pro and zoom but ended up with the zoom and so glad I did. I really like the zoom feature and do HD so I can take full advantage of 4X. Great review as always and very nice video.
Just order mine over the weekend! Looking forward to getting it all set up and out for a test run. Thanks for your great videos! This will be my first drone but I am feeling confident due to your video series!
Excellent review. It was nice to meet you. It is fun meeting creative people. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to get my Zoom and Pro. We ordered both, too hard to choose just one.
Really good intro to the M2Zoom! and your instructional vids are...awesome! Thank you for your work. Almost ready for my first flight..twas a b'day present :)
Dude!!! So cool that DJI recognized the role you played in the success of the their products. I know you played a big part in me buying the Mavic Pro and in learning how to use it. Great video and thank you again for taking the time to help out others. The_Drone_List
I have no issues with my mavic pro and the pro 2 is not worth the up grade unlees they had more protection for the camera how could dji not think of this i mean really. If that camera gets hit even a little thst drone is done and of course dji is gonma give youtube.com a drone before anyone else so they can promote there product. And yes they got commsions feom dji and if they say they dont llol not true but i still gottta have this drone lol lol lol
Hi, I think your videos about the drones are super good. the reviews really contribute and help me to become a better drone pilot. thanks from the Netherlands
Hi Ed just tuned in as they say and a great channel. Your instruction on set up and flight is in my opinion second to none well put together and easy to understand10/10. From a manic pro 2 new flyer. Many thanks..
Great Vid Ed. I’ve only had my Mavic Pro a few months, so I won’t be upgrading just yet, but thanks for this great review.. Like a previous review, I watched your Mavic Pro videos and learnt a great deal. Excellent, many thanks.. Tony, Portsmouth, UK.
Awesome review, first experience video. Also, the video edit and music selection was entertaining, nice job. Yes, I would like to see you do something similar with Mavic 2 Pro. have a great weekend.
Ahhh I was right ,and so happy for you. :) Glad DJI sent you one to Review for us. Kinda wish it was the 2 Pro but I'm sure you'll keep us posted on that one too. Thanks Ed ,Well done.
great detailed video and footage thx, my zoom will be here wednesday 8/29 i can't wait, i chose the zoom because i make family videos and vlog my vacations and i feel its all i need visually and i love the zoom feature, i think if the pro was also a zoom lens i woulda went all in!
Great review Ed, you really covered a lot of important points. About your issue with sport mode button on the controller getting switch on by accident, it happens to me often on the Mavic Pro 1 also. And I'm not quite sure where your going with the 60fps comment. This frame rate is intended for a slow motion effect, almost movies are filmed at 24fps, and almost all TV shows are filmed at 30fps. So people are accustomed to these rates, so when they see 60fps it looks odd to them. Unless your trying to achieve a slow motion type special effect, there is no reason for the typical drone pilot to use this frame rate. As a example i often use a higher frame, up to 120fps to capture snow fall, the snowfakes seem bigger and they float in the air longer. Enjoy the new Mavic Zoom, that is going to be a great drone. Very well produced video.
Ed, thanks for letting us know that there was no image manipulation on your footage. That's definitely helpful. Sure looks like the Zoom will produce high quality footage. Much appreciated.
Have to say i have now have seen al your mavic review videos and you are setting the benchmark here. Very professional but more important real life footage and examples.
A great review, thank you for the long awaited insight. I was going to go for the Pro but I am more taken by the Zoom and I am not sure why. I suppose I am more into the flying side than the camera. Can’t wait for it to arrive.
Ed, 6 months ago you helped sell me on DJI Spark. Been incredibly happy with it ever since. Although I have been watching Mavic videos and can really see the difference in the gymbals between the two, I've held off buying the Mavic knowing that the "new and improved" was on the way. Pretty sure you did it again. I'm gonna wait another 2-4 weeks to see if any issues arise, but I can't wait to get this! Loved the pros and cons you presented, also. I am also a model railroader (HO scale) so the rail yard scenes I really got a kick out of. Great work! BTW. how is it the 1080p you put up still looks really good on RU-vid? I've posted some stuff which I'm happy with, but your video footage of downtown and the freeway traffic really stood out great.
Thanks, very useful. I still have not decided on which one to buy but now I'm getting to understand a little more about what the zoom effects could do which I think not much. I also have a gut feeling that dji wants to push the zoom version as the 1" sensor is something that most customers were looking for, quality with portability. The reviews that came out first all somehow biased in favor of the "creativity" the zoom offers, one top youtuber went as far as saying that zoom will be his regular drone to take with on trips... Waiting for your review on the pro version.
Ed...good review...appreciate/respect your opinions...I was vacillating between the Zoom & Pro versions, but finally settled on the Pro just for the reasons you stated...video quality. Since I'm currently photographing with a P4P, I couldn't see taking a step backwards. Someday we'll see a DJI drone with both a 1" sensor & zoom, but for now, it's the M2P. Should arrive in a couple days...
Nice video Ed. Glad to see you got an early copy. One question, before you got up in the air did you have to calibrate the IMU and or the joysticks etc.? I bit the bullet and ordered the Mavic 2 pro. Looking forward to see those Hasselblad still photos.
Hey Ed, awsome review like always. I have a phantom 4 pro and a mavic pro. My next drone will be the phantom 5 pro. I am wondering when its going to be released and i am looking forward to the upcoming features.
DJI (Representative) has mentioned that no P5 is in the works at present (RCG). There was a commissioned P4P project (For company survery work) with interchangeable lens that people are claiming to be a P5, they (DJI) claim that it is not scheduled for a production run for consumers and if it does it will be a Enterprise version, well out of the cost range that most would bother. In short no new Phantom on the horizon it seems...subject to change..cause well, it's DJI and when your the best..you can do what you want. :)
Great video as usual. One point though you mentioned about the Mavic 1 and it's poor 60fps. I had this issue to and eventually sent it back to DJI and they replaced the whole Mavic with a new one and 60fps and all other FPS were fixed, obviously there was a problem and it got fixed with later models of Mavics
Nice to see a hands on review with an honest input. Question, how does the gimbal handle compared to the original MP? The original was quite flimsy and exposed. Even though this one is just as much exposed, is it now more solid? Also has the gimbal clamp been improved as well? It would be cool if the Mavic 2 had the same kind of clamp that the Mavic Air uses.
Great to see somebody show one of the most important upgrades to the mavic pro . Best video by far when it comes to the actual zoom itself. It's amazing how many videos on youtube that did not give any real attention to the zoom and how it works in real time. It's called the mavic 2 "zoom" for god's sake for a reason. People reviewing it as if it just happen to be part of the name. You could do a whole video on the zoom, i don't think people quite get how amazing a 4 zoom is on a drone for this price. Especially when you wear dji goggles , imagine a tv right in front of you as your screen for flying and then multiply the size by 8. This is huge for DJI goggles users. Dji Goggle are like the playstation VR, not doing nearly as well as they should be, why. Because the only way to really experience them is to use them, any flight where you can not see your drone they are definitely a must. I could say a lot more but i will leave it there or i will never finish . Rant over 😉
I think DJI have done well, though I'm not sure which one to get. I'm keen on the Hitchcock effect but something's telling me a Hasselblad 1" will be a lot better. In terms of Zoom I generally fly close in and not interested in wildlife so I reckon at 4K you've got a lot of scope to zoom in and maintain quality, so for me I reckon as much as it would be nice to get both, I'll probably go with the Hasselblad version. Thanks Ed, awesome review!
Was a really good review - we trust ya bro! Got a feeling the 1" sensor will make you a believer - ir at least HOPING..... b/c I ordered one~! LOL ~Fly High~
Hi ed, you are one of the best as you talk slower so people can understand you follow along to retain the info better. The one thing I dislike with dji and all drone reviewers is the bogus flight time specks I just like the real time honest what it really can do time.Ron
