You have a lot of guts to fly an unsponsored drone in such conditions. Makes for absolutely great video and amazing performance of the new, long awaited Mavic 3. Thank you for being a bit crazy! You deserved a gold medal for this incredible video!🥇
Great job! Not only takes it up in 60KLM winds, but goes out chases boats, circles lighthouses, hovers and runs the battery down to RTH status. You are awesome!
This is the review everyone's been waiting for. Nobody else has the guts to test drones in these conditions. Great review as usual. It's incredible how stable it is and the long battery life means you have more confidence in sending the drone out to nowhere and know that it'll have enough juice to fight the wind to get back home. Next up ... active track test with the trees. You should floater on that test to make sure you can get it back cause you know it won't be as good as the Skydio 2. 😃
This is an awesome review, great work, great video. The Mavic 3 looks outstanding but the golden point here is you my friend for having the courage to test flight in these conditions using your own money to get the drone. This is what a real review should be. It's interesting how this guy purchased the drone and gave this good of a review while other sponsored reviews get given the drone for free and they show a backyard flight.
I'm really impressed. I started with FPV drones in 2012, long before BLHeli and Oneshot125 changed the game of stability. Changed to LOS RC planes in 2014 and now Im back at FPV/drones. In 2012 the internet was full of DJI customers complaining about fly aways. And now, 10 years later I see a video where at nasty conditions a DJI drone holds GPS position, delivers perfect vids and is still in full manual control of the owner. Outstanding!
The only channel where obstetrical avoidance/active track/wind resistance of Drones get pushed to their limits. I always keep an eye in this channel when new Drones come out. Thank You for taking your time to make these videos.
The stability of the 7x lens is really impressive! The view angle on the light tower with this tele lens is unique and beautifully done. Great content! Thanks again
Impressive on how still the image is in the strong winds! Less impressive is whatever the heck deadcat you are using on your lapel mic (I smell a Christmas gift suggestion).
Super thanks for doing a real world test. You're far braver than I am. I always test in small increments moving up to the items limits. Great job and I'm glad the drone came back intact. Actually I'm glad the drone came back at all under those conditions.
That was some daredevil move to take it out so far in such gusty conditions! I’ve seen the level of stability in 30 mile/hr winds and was absolutely astonished by the capability and had to get one!
Some other drone channel (which I don't trust as much) claimed it was as good as Skydio2, but I'm not sure how he could verify that if active track isn't there yet.
@@PaulTomblin it is probably not without that hand tracker etc, but i guess dji follow general rules about vlos etc. and from ground up, mavic is steady cine/photo drone, not some neurotic and unpredictable flying action cam in the sky. totally different use, funny how poeple don't understand that..
@@izoyt Real professionals in this space use these modes for real production work, which is why they're offered on DJI's higher end drones like the Inspire series. Just like real professions use GoPro's in production work (in very specific scenarios). It's using the right tool for the job. Nobody in 'real production' is handy-flying a simple orbit around a building for quick b-roll shots of some static object these days. It's not worth the production time.
Your a beast! Taking that brand new Mavic 3 out in those conditions (and as a 1st flight 😂). Must admit I was impressed with the image quality and how well the gimbal handled those winds…..footage was very smooth considering conditions. 👍👍
Impressive Video, not sure that I'm bold enough to fly in that type of weather, but it's nice to know that the Mavic 3 can hold its own in those type of conditions, really enjoyed the slow motion shots.
I live in the Great Lakes area, so one of my favorite things to film and take pictures of are the many cargo ships that come through. Having a Mavic 3 along with than zoom camera has taken things to a new level. Before I always worried about flying too close to the ships. Now I am able to get incredible close-up shots, without worrying about disturbing the crew.
Impressive! Mine has shipped and I am eagerly awaiting it. I use mine for work, and the ability to hold stationary in any type of wind I'd fly in (a lot less than what you are flying in here) was a big reason for my upgrade. Also the increased flight time ti be able to stay up longer even in windy conditions.
Seriously impressed! Both with your location choice (and overall test) and the 3's capabilities. That 7x secondary lens has more capability than I was expecting too.
Right take my money please... never really thought about getting a drone but I now want to go to the coast in the wind! Excellent video and brave man for testing.
This is very impressive! You have made me think further about getting a Mavic 3, and I am really now just waiting for DJI to do software update, as still a lot on Air 2s which has not come to M3
You really don’t NEEDN this drone…. unless you are a professional filmmaker or a very famous RU-vidr. The air 2s or even the mini 2 are great beginner drones. I have the mini 2 and it does everything I need it to
@@CalebBoender Very true! I'm not a pro film maker or a famous RU-vidr. I don't "need" my my Mavic 2 Pro or my Mavic 2 Zoom or my previous Mavic Pro either. Actually I don't "need" a drone ... but I "want" a Mavic 3 and will probably buy one.
I always love these reviews! Great work. DJI should definitely sponsor you! This specific test helped me make my purchase of the Mavic Air 2 back when it released. I really want to upgrade to this new one.
TOTAL 🏀 ⚽️ OF STEEL! Now we really know its capabilities. You sir have my standing golf clap.. When you were bringing him home and it dropped, so did my heart.
Hey Ray.....super video mate...I particularly like the pan around the zeezand ship. I've flown an inspire 1 for years and want to mention some things to you. Naturally these are completely different craft yet in my first week of owning the inspire I flew mine over the sea making a video for the R.N.L.I here (british lifeboats)....I don't know if you have sonar on the belly of the mavics but if you do please note particularly on a sunny day .....the reflectiveness on the sea surface under the radar on the belly throws sonar into confusion.....point being my craft erratically Heightened and lowered when flying only a few metres above the sea surface.....so if you do have sonar on your mavic belly be aware of this. Another thing is when i flew over the Isle of skye the properties in the rock on the mountains did affect the compass readings (magnetic differences within the rock) it may affect calibration and compass bearings within some rocky zones. Lastly SEAGULLS!....Once I made the mistake of flying around the English cliff coastal zones and it was in the gull nesting season....they mobbed my inspire 1 and didn't knock it but when reviewing post production footage came dangerously close to it at speed.....to be honest with you I think you will be okay with your mavic and certainly in sport mode. I after having used such a big craft for yrs definitely want one of the mavics with the hassleblad sense as it is a real nuisance to hump an inspire 1 on a rucksack up mountains etc. Also my flight time at very best sits around 18 mins ....and when flown in icy conditions in mountains is realisticly around 12 minutes ...not enough time to film in a relaxed manner. I have also learnt that the right mavic can do all that an inspire 1 can do and the hassleblad lense is certainly better than the original Inspire 1 sense/camera....I really want that extra flight time too.....Thanks for your super vids....well produced, effective and to the point...hope my tips will be useful to you .
Brilliant video. Extreme test for that little beast and it passed with flying colours. Impressive stuff! I' want one. You have great presentational as well as flying skills by the way. Thanks.
That's some serious real world testing. I love these weather conditions and never thought this drone could handle it so well. Thanks for testing it and thanks for the awesome footage :-)
Hopefully ActiveTrack 5 won’t fly into the trees 🤣. (iPhonedo tried to fly it directly at the camera and it kept moving out of the way no matter what he did)
Man… I want one! That price is savage though! But it’d be absolutely perfect for Filming the kiters and surfers in these winter Atlantic swells. How much with regards to wind do you think I can push my Mavic Air 2? Just follow the same ‘rules’ you recommend in this vid? Wicked video man! Cheers.
I can see a lot of uses for 5.1k 50 fps and 4k 120 fps. You can fly fast in most of the shots and they in post you can keep it as it is or slow down to your liking. It gives so much more flexibility.
Perfect video again. Was waiting for your Mavic 3 videos. I will wait for the active track -obstacle avoidance vs Skydio 2. Probably January or sooner?
Thanks! Indeed, DJI is saying January for Active Track as well as all the other automated shooting modes. It's a pretty substantial gap right now unfortunately.
Wow you are very brave :-) enjoyed the zoom demo, the stability is out of this world. I would say you can do the automated flight better in manual if you practice :-)
I am impressed by the stability of the Drone despite the strong and continuous wind, which manages to hover without moving or very little, always giving an excellent image !!! The slow motion in 4K 120 fps are crazy and qualitative ... Really thank you for this test which will reassure those who did not dare to fly in high winds, even if flying in such extreme conditions for a Drone, if anything happens. either with the Drone, DJI will not take care of the repair because they will take into account the strong wind that day, and the strong wind alerts in the flight logs ... so for an extreme test, great, but be careful anyway .
Super, exciting video that shows off the handling and resolution brilliantly. My heart sank slightly as it dropped over the waves on the way in! I marveled at your devil-may-care lack of haste to get it down even though the battery was on its absolute last legs! 👏 👏
I probably wouldn't fly at half that wind speed, particularly with a brand new Mavic 3! You've got guts lol - nice to know this drone can handle more extreme conditions than I previously thought possible.
DJI should directly pay you for this. I'm in the midst of deciding on this drone and you just made it that much harder to say no to. I will be picking up this drone in the not too distant future. Thank you for sharing this moment of pure adrenaline (as I worried about the ability to bring the drone back in safely). Also, wildly impressed that the drone was taking a beating visibily but the camera showed little to no struggle at all. Color me impressed DJI and DC Rainmaker!! Subscribed!!
