Genuinely helpful man, thank you! I appreciate you meticulously breaking every little control down. Being totally new and needing to get things running asap for a shoot, this was a crucial rundown.
New pilot, DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine. Thank you, Sir, for your selfless service. Liked, Subscribed. Was wondering if you currently have, or will have in the future, a video overviewing how one might color grade D-log footage. Thanks again.
I am working on one, in the mean time I did do this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h1HBPB7k-Pg.htmlsi=snXpqRf4-JolKNy4 I also sell a LUT pack: www.solocreatoracademy.com/offers/2NvXq6pL/checkout cheers
I was especially interested to hear/see what Gain & Expo settings you use. This was great to see. What I hoped you'd mention was the fact that when in 7x, the Yaw and Tilt max speeds for example are dumbed right down for good reason, but I find no way of adjusting these max speeds while in 7x. Am I missing something? One thing that just came to mind (which I haven't checked out yet) was whether or not the Gain & Expo settings page is dependant on which camera lense you currently have selected, but I'm guessing it doesn't.
THANKS so so much, Jake! I just got the Mavic 3 Pro yesterday, and I am doing my first flight today and this was very helpful and to the point. Enjoy the summer! Cheers. 😀
Just a point about the obstacle avoidance icons (in the Fly App screen). I don't know if the M3 Pro has this issue, but the M3 did (and possibly still does). As low light conditions begin to set in, a very brief alert appears in the Fly App advising that obstacle avoidance is no longer available (insufficient ambient light). This is so brief that you have to be looking at the screen when it appears. Otherwise, you have to notice the obstacle avoidance icons have changed to red. I don't know why an audible alert sound couldn't have been included.
@@JakeSloan yes, I would be upgrading from magic 2 pro and I have the smart controller. However, I couldn't imagine spending $1100 on a controller if I didn't have to. I do go behind lots of trees and plenty of buildings, but as long as the regular RC controller can hold up then I'm good.
Wow. you are the best introducer on the internet for everyone who know nothing in details with their drone. Keep it up. Nice video. Really interesting and enjoying.
Great video!! Just purchased the Mavic 3 Pro Cine and your video definitely helped me, I'm coming from the DJI FPV so this is a huge difference. Thanks again!!
Quick question about D-Log. I've been using the overexposure warning as a guide. If I turn it off, what else can I go by? The EV value? Should I keep it at 0 or should it always be above 0? (Expose to the right principle). Do you think they will ever bring DLog to the 3x telephoto lens not just DLog-M?
I do livestream for television and the liveview isn't entirely clean. It will display the homepoint icon, the green RTH path and the drone shadow icon. However, these can each be turned off in the AR settings under the safety tab. This issue might not have existed at the time the video was recorded but became an issue after a few software updates. I've watched this particular video several times and as I gain experience flying the M3 Pro, I'm able to add more of the info nuggets you've shared to my flights.
oh interesting! good too know, I've done some live events and have always sent out a clean feed but I've never looked into what settings I am using for it
Thanks Jake. This was very helpful! I've been away from DJI for 3-4 years and needed to get familiar again. In fact back then the Fly app had just come out, and I was disappointed about the features we lost from the Go4 app. It looks like Fly has come a long way. I feel much more familiar after viewing your vid a few times.
Hi Jake, just working through my Mavic 3 Pro features. Got caught out with collision avoidance not allowing me to land where I had taken off from!! Is there a way to momentarily override collision avoidance? (NB I never enable collision avoidance on my Inspire 2 as I don't often fly it close to anything)
@@JakeSloan What fast service . . . Hi Jake. Would be nice if you could allocate a button to override, or even just keep holding the stick in the direction you want to go.. 15:30 here, due to change to winter daylight saving this weekend. BTW didn't you have a live session this week?
HI Jake, My question is this. I notice that when I put the Dlog assist on or off the histogram changes radically. I head a guy on your tube say that using the Dlog assist is bad in the way that it gives a wrong reading on the histogram and you won't get the the benefits of exposing to the right. I tried it and it was odd. With DLOG assist off I could not get the histogram past 70 percent to the right and it was very sunny and I had it at 2.8 and ISO high. I was wondering what you thought about it. Please let me know. ALSO, I use the Mavic 3 Classic with the RC 1. So many of the options you have are not on my RC. Do you think it's your PRO RC or the Classic just does not offer many of the pro features. For on instance. I do not have USB feature that keeps the drown from over heating and getting hot while turned on plugged in to the computer.
yeah unfortunately the histogram is after the assist tool, so if you want to shoot in d-log and see the histogram and what the true exposure looks like you need to toggle off the assist function. I really wish they would fix this. As to the functions there are a few that have changed with firmware updates and there are quite a few of options on the 3pro Cine version that the other versions of the mavic 3 don't have
@@JakeSloan Very Good. Thank you knowing about this. Not many people I've searched for did. So to really get the proper exposure limit out of you rfootage using histogram then I leave assist off. IS that the way you shoot? . If you would not mind. I go by how peoples footage looks and your looks great.
active track does work with the 1x camera just not in 5.1k resolution or if you have the cine version it won't work when you are recording in prores. The 1x camera can active track in 4k 60fps or lower
Thank you Have you tried taking photos during a waypoints mission while recording and zooming in slightly at each point? Ive tried but the photos come out blurry, I'm guessing the zooming is only for video recording.
There is no way to set it to the controller location unfortunately. The way to do it is tether the controller to your mobile phone hot spot and update it that way
Thanks Jake. I think the Mavic are making my Inspire 2 redundant, even in picture quality. I see that you don’t use the Pro controller, even though you fly Cine cameras. Do you think it is worth having?
One of THE best video's out there on the control!! You've kept me from throwing it at a wall. DJI really needs to step up their user manuals. Thank you!!
I recently got the Mavic 3 classic! I can't shoot very nice videos in pro mode, I'm from a mini 3 pro! Do you recommend putting one or more of these in auto ISO, shutter speed and aperture when I record?
Hi Jake I just watched your video and it was really helpful…. I also have a dji mavic 3 pro I was wondering if you could help with a questions I normally burn my videos shot while recording whales specially when they breaching so could u please tell me what iso, aperture, shutter would you use ?!
I would set aperture at f8 or f9 and keep ISO as low as possible. shutter speed should be 2 times your video frame rate but for photos on that kind of subject material I would put my shutter speed to 1/250 or 1/320
I needed a clear tutorial on the RC controller and your explanation was as very helpful. I feel a lot more confident in the use of it. For now, I will be using mostly Auto mode.
I have a Mavic 3 pro Cine and flew it today. I took plenty of videos and pictures. For some reason on all the files it has a black background which looks like 2 gray mountains. Was I suppose to format the 1 TB INTERNAL storage? It’s a brand new drone BTW. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also subscribe to your channel. Thank you
Got a question. Is there a big difference between the mavic 3 cine and the mavic 3 pro cine? I know its kind of a random question but i do respect your opinion. Thanks
i used to fly the Mavic 2 Pro, shame the new Fly app doesnt have the swipe up to get full screen mode with no info on the edges, so annoying to frame shots
Another no nonsense video that is super useful. Quick question, once the gain settings are changed in the controller is there any way of locking them do you don’t have to change it each time you turn the drone on?
Thanks once again for taken the time out to show us your settings. Question ⁉️ Does the Mavic 3Pro Cine you are using still kill the sensors in Sports mode and if so can you manually put them on?
Hi Jake, thanks for the tutorial. Just want to ask what the difference is between the option of 3x 70mm lens 12mp or 48mp. Someone said 12mp has a larger range of dynamic range than 48mp, but I did not see any test of it.
I am shooting with Mavic Pro 3 Cine on D-log ProRes in 422 HQ, and I use 5.1K resolution at 25fps. I noticed that when I tried to edit on DaVinci Resolve, my files are really slow, and I use a Mac. Is it the format I use, or is it my Mac that's the problem? What should I do?
how old is you Mac? what version of resolve? to work with Resolve you should really film in h.265. Resolve doesnt really play very well with ProRes files
I think has to do with the format I edit on DaVinci. What resolution you are using when you edit your videos what rate format exc and on what format of resolution? I use D-Log ProRes 422HQ in mov format 4k and also 5k
Good coverage Jake. I particularly like that Camera settings, with multiple auto/manual toggles give us not just Shutter Priority and Aperture Priority but ISO Priority and any combination in between. Further, Auto ISO uses increments of 10, so instead of 100/200/400/800/1600 - you can have, for example ISO values of 810, 980,1550. That granular ability plus utilizing the multimeter, 3 cameras with really decent Split filters in the Fly More now.. All of which makes everyone a potential master cinema artist, or hopelessly lost. I fall somewhere in the middle. Depending on the day, lol.
