Thx Flytpath, yep, the Mavic assistant 2 software is the next best solution, if people are having trouble. MA2 has just gotten better with the zoom abilities. So many options while flying. Keep up the great videos.👍

Thank you Aldryn for your very helpful videos. I just received my Mavic Air 2 with FlyMore Combo this morning. I did the update to latest version, charged all my batteries and remote controller and anxious to start flying, Unfortunately it is pouring rain today where I live, so will have to wait.

Thanks for that, I have been using the updated firmware, but it had none of the updated features. I waited for a few weeks thinking it was a location/country issue, even updated the firmware using DJI assistant. Uninstalling the Fly app and reinstalling it worked a treat. Much thanks.

it was said from other youtubers that a hand selected few got the beta version an thats the reason why some people havent got it yet but it seems like it rolled out fully now to everybody , thanks for your video , take care an be safe

I did updates on drone AND rc by using the DJI assistant on a windows laptop. No issues. I didn’t uninstall the android app on my pixel 4. But I had to do firmware updates for each Mavic air 2 battery separately. If you have the fly&more package, do the drone upgrade three times, change the battery each time. I was done completely after 20 minutes. Most RU-vid’s so far did not mention that there is a RC Firmware update available and needed as well -> good video! Thank you

I downloaded the update, but as usual, when I opened the DJI Fly app and then brought the drone online, it goes straight into flight mode. I had to back out and tll it to update the firmware (the update was listed). Once I did that, it worked like a dream. I use android. Everything appeared to be the same. What a nice update! I wish they would let you choose the threshold for the battery discharge, but I guess that it pretty minor. Still miss my DJI Go 4 app though.

I always use the DJI Assistant to update the firmware of my DJI drones. Never had problems that way. ;-)

It definitely works on the android devices like Samsung 8 & 10. I had same problem until I followed your advice and reinstalled DJI Fly app on phone. Everything works and looks great including holding FN key and using gimble wheel to operate zoom control. Thanks for your quick answer to my problem (before I even asked)

At first the notif for the firmware update didn't appeared in my Fly App. I went to the settings and About and checked for updates then voila I got the update

What I think is cool too you can hold down the programmable left button and work the gimbal will to zoom in and out that’s a really cool feature instead of having to push the button on the right of the screen

Very good information, but only one thing I see on all the videos about updates, or should I say I don't see are hear, you most update all the batteries also. There must be part of the update that needs to be on all the batteries that you have because I found that when I put in a new battery it says that it needs to be updated to the current firmware update. Maybe that's something you may want to check on are included in your next video. Even DJI doesn't say anything about that.

I am installed the software through the Mavic assistant on the Mavic air two and the controller but I also put a new battery in and it seem to think it was a new update so it updated again. I did it for all three batteries.

Can you explain about the zoom in the drone? Do this working in photos or just in video? etc ..

When selecting video mode on fly screen, there is a new 4k(zoom) mode. Selecting that will display the (1x) - (2x) icon.

With Android all went well. I also updated both my iPhones and checking firmware version and got the everything current then hit it again and got a battery firmware update notice. I had to repeat that for second battery but the one that did the Android update was fine. Typically, the non updated battery should have given me the prompt but I did have to work to make sure batteries were updated as nothing in release notes about batteries but it’s DJI so it’s expected.

I found that an éarlier'published release didn't have the Start-Stop button working or the Mode switch (Cam/Vid) After deleting and installing thru PlayStore, those functions now work !

Android seem very slow with the app update, it took a few days for android to update the 1.6 app update, however the firmware was there ready, i think once you update your app you can update your firmware

I couldn't do a firmware update on my new Mavic Air 2 purchased from Amazon, so I returned it, but when the replacement had the exact same issue, I eventually found a solution. What DIDN'T work was deleting and reinstalling the app, or using the the DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic on my computer. What eventually worked for me was TO TURN OFF WIFI on my phone and use cell data, then the firmware update ran without any problems. I'm not entirely sure if it is my new Netgear Nighthawk router blocking a needed port, but more likely the culprit is my internet provider. I have Sparklight (formerly Newwave) cable internet, and I found one post online that suggests Sparklight blocks access to the firmware update, which explains why I couldn't get it to work through the phone or computer on my home WiFi. So if you can't do a firmware update, try switching to phone data, or go somewhere where you can have a different internet provider, and see if you can get it to work. Love, love, love the Mavic Air 2.

Can you check if Yaw Smoothness in Normal mode is not working after turning on the Bypass mode (obstacles avoidance)? Is it on purpose or a bug?

I use windows. There are two DJI assistant versions. I had the original DJI Assistant 2 because I I've had a Mavic Pro Platinum and a Mavic Air, and that one did not recognize the Mavic Air 2. I downloaded the DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic, and that one recognized it as well as the controller.

i tried the update through the mavic assistant on windows also and it says my controller and mavic air 2 are up to date and theres still no zoom... the gimbal control is there but i really want that zoom... any other things i can try?

When i update mines it did not work til i update the DJI FLY APP to 1.1.6 and it work and i was able to see all the new updates

Do you have a problem when you viewing the live footage on the iPhone display is little bit blurry or out of focus little bit? Before I updated to the latest firmware what i see on the display is sharp. So I downloaded the photo and video if my mavic air 2 camera is out of focus, but nothing happen, it's sharp! Don't know why.

So using hyper lapse in waypoint mode I have to set like 5 waypoints in order to get a video longer than 10 seconds. I used to be able to set 2 and get how ever long video my batteries could take. Is this an error in my update or is this happening to everyone?

After researching and watching yours and other videos... Is the air 2, with it's updates, a better machine/tool for making a few bucks for making videos, across different businesses for both the client and myself than the pro2? I would also use it for personal pictures and videos but more towards making a little side money.. Maybe an in road to other business ventures in the future? If I can get it going good enough I'd upgrade to the higher end drones but, this is what I'd think would be better than intro but not breaking the bank while getting going either 👍 looking for opinions. Whether good or bad, I don't have "soft skin" as a former paramedic/911 and construction background 😉.

Question: I updated the aircraft firmware and since then, the camera does not work. It shows "Incompatible Gimbal Data" and no camera s/n. I have used refresh option several times in the Assistance 2 for Mavic app. But it does not work and it does not show any older versions of the aircraft firmware. Thus i cannot downgrade, and the most recent upgrade has rendered the camera useless. Any tips?

Am not able to activate my Air 2S. It says network connection problem. Did firmware updates and all. It went well. But cannot go through the final process of drone activation. What could b the reason? My wifi connection is strong. Could it b a dji server issue?

All my app is current and I’m still having down load issues. On computer will only down load to 99%. Then says fail down load . What do you do then ? And when I try and down load off the computer it will down load no higher then 78%.

I am not able to get the latest firmware update for you MAVIC Air 2 drone. I get a message that says unable to download updates. Please try again. I am connecting my controller to my laptop. I have done this with my drone as well as the controller and the same result. I want to be able to zoom and I don't have that feature because of the lack of getting the latest updates. Is there something that I am not doing correctly or is it a possibility that my drone is defective? Please tell me it's NOT a defective drone. Thanks for any information you can provide. I got into the habit of using the Mavic Assistant for anything to do with the drone/ batteries/ controller. I'd much rather update firmware through a cable connection, rather than over wifi. Obviously anything phone related is through updates from whatever is your source. Since adopting this policy, I've not had any issues installing and subsequently running new firmware. Happy flying kids! 😉

To update controller do you have to do it via a computer or will it update when you download rom the internet?

It can be done through the app as well. But if for some reason the updates are not working, you can use the DJI Assistant

Help, help. Flew this drone perfectly 5 or 6 times right out of the box. Next day, literally, the phone app cannot recognize controller or drone!! 2 calls to tech support, updating firmware twice, deleting and reinstalling app...and I have an $1100 drone sitting in the case! So so so disappointed. No one has any answers. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks Aldryn. I was able to update firmware that I was having problems seeing on the DJI Fly APP, through deleting the APP and reinstalling (update done through WIFI). FYI: My MACBOOK PRO would not open the DJI Assistant software due to it being developed by an unknown developer. New subject: my videos are coming up choppy/jerky like throughout the recording. Could it be my video recording setup; or could it be related to the newly updated firmware? Your comment/advice is requested (DJI should be paying you). Thanks.

The unknown developer is normal for a lot of downloaded software. Its a permission you have to allow through the system preferences in certain cases. Is the actual footage choppy or is it your playback? If its your playback, your system might not be handling the 4k footage well. How old or new of a computer are you using?

@@FlytPath Thanks. I'll look into the preferences solution. I believe it's the actual footage, as I've been able to record with my MA2 with no choppy/jerky playback. I've even produced a couple of iMovie videos (albeit, amateurish) with no choppy/jerky playback or recording. I have a early 2015 MACBOOK Pro w/Retina. Could it be my video settings?

@@FlytPath Aldryn: hate to bother you again about my video recordings. Previous videos, prior to about 7AUG2020, had no problem with playback being jerky. I just flew the drone today and am reviewing the drone recording on the SDC Card and the recording is still jerky and like it is skipping frames. I disabled the cache recording and still have the problem. Might it possibly me a problem with the drone's camera? Thanks for your help, in advance.

Pulling my hair out trying to 'unbrick' my RC. Firmware update on the MA2 and RC, android app update now I can't connect the RC to the phone! Have installed the Assistant 2 program but I don't have a list of available downgrades (tried both PC and Mac). Any suggestions to access to previous RC firmware versions greatly appreciated!

I purchased my Mavic Air 2 in early May. Due to heavy travel, I've only flown it for 37 minutes total. On Sunday, I charged all batteries including the RC then opened the GoFly app and noticed the firmware notice. I downloaded the firmware on my phone but it kept giving me the message to connect to aircraft. Well, I was unable to connect to the aircraft and seemed like the linking between the two was lost. I tried all the tips i found on the DJI forum and on RU-vid, but nothing is working. I contacted DJI Monday and after waiting for nearly an hour to speak to someone was taken back through the same processes I tried. No help. Now they are saying that the controller may be defective and to send back both the RC and the Drone to service. However, no guarantees on turnaround time due to the stay at home orders in California. Any thoughts or suggestions on your side that i could do before i send it back? Thanks, Tom

Hey FlytPath, I updated the software originally by just using my phone (android) mounted to the controller, and the drone turned on. Everything looked like it was fine, version 0340, etc. But it didn't work. So I followed this video. Now I made sure that I downloaded the latest software from DJI (firmware) - then did what you said, connected the drone to my MacBook, the software said it was installed, but I refreshed it... that took maybe 10 minutes. Then I connected to the controller only (phone removed), and went through the process again. After everything was loaded then restarted the controller, then drone, and the software features (zoom, etc) are not there. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong at this point. I guess I can wait for DJI to take a few days or much longer to respond, but I'm at a loss as to why I can't get the software to load properly. Sorry to buy you, but you did try to help those who needed it. It just didn't work in my case. I think I"ll try it again, but I'm not holding out much hope. Thanks for the videos and effort though. * Still did not work * Maybe tomorrow I'll try to downgrade the rev., turn it on to see if it took, then upgrade it. Hopefully it will complete erase whatever BS is in there now.. Oh well. I did delete the old version, at least I thought it worked - but like I said, I'll install and even older version and hopefully get to start over. Thanks.

Delete the app and reinstall it. Do not just hit upgrade. Delete the app first

@@FlytPath Hi, sorry I failed to mention it. I did go back and delete it. Downloaded it completely then updated. Anyway, thanks. I'm at 0340 again, but none of the features are there. I'll let you know if I work it out later, but I'm stuck for now.

@@FlytPath Assistant does not help. He does the same. You don't know? It is big. For over a week now, the update has been destroying drones all over the world. And DJI nothing. Happy New Year from DJI!
