DJI Mavic Mini | First Time Drone Owner Perspective 

For the first time flying, flying over water, you're brave. Lol.

Thought I'd pass this on. I learned a lesson on what happens if the "critical battery" alarm goes off. I was landing my drone and had hovered near a large tree, but not where my home point was. The critical battery went off, as the drone knows how much battery it needs to return. As I was landing, it shot straight up 150 feet, which was the altitude setting to return home. Then it hovered over to the home point location and descended. It did exactly what it was set to do. Next time I had my game face on and consciously was aware of it. It did happened again, but I knew about, expected it, and immediately cancelled the return home to override the landing to another spot. Great video.....Happy droning.

Flew mine today for the first time in windy conditions. My Mini did well. I was very cautious as a first time drone flyer. I'm hooked now. I plan on enjoying this for a year or so and pass it along to my 6 year old so she can enjoy it too. Of course I will upgrade when I do :)

Nice video! Good to see a first timer/first flight ever! I got my Mavic Mini a week ago and we’ve had a solid week of 40mph wind warnings here so I haven’t been able to fly it yet! I’m dying to get it in the air! Your video made it look a little less terrifying for my first flight. Thanks!

Very good for the first flight! I now have the mini, plus the Mavic Pro, I’m still learning, bought the Mini so I did not have to register! So now I’m learning to fly the mini and the pro is on hold until I change my mind over the registration and the cost to allow me to fly the Pro! Subbed to your channel keep up what you do! What an awesome first flight! I just got my mini but I haven't flown it yet. I bought a Tello to get used to flying drones and will jump into the mini in a few days. Welcome to the DJI community!! A little tip for new drone operating... Watch as many videos that you can, not just about the Mini but all DJI drones. I've been flying for going on 2 yrs now, started with a spark and now have the Mavic Air. Good luck learning and exploring!! Not bad for first flight. You can set your sticks and gimbal to be a little bit smoother. All things you will learn as you go.

Have to hand it to you. Had mine out for two flights in the back yard and ran into just about every possible obstacle there is. I guess there is an advantage to getting above the tree line! After that test run, I sure as heck won't be trying it indoors for a while. As soon as all the parks re-open, I need to get to some wide open spaces. All that said, great video and a nice introduction.

I just got mine and love it. Lost my Spark the other day I know where it landed, just can't see where it is!. While changing the props I was distracted and didn't properly lock in the battery. REMEMBER TO LISTEN FOR THAT SNAP WHEN INSERTING BATTERY. The Mavic Mini is great but I miss my Spark.

I had my doubts about getting one, but you sold it to me. Totally get the vibe of it being empowering. Must be great to fly. Work well getting RC Car footage. Cheers.

This is a helpful and honest review. Raw information given. No sugar-coating. A lot of reviews for the Mavic Mini are promotional and those people didn't even buy their drones as they are being sponsored. Which tends to make their reviews a bit bias, lots of sugar-coating and avoiding to emphasize the cons of the Mavic Mini.

Awesome post and very useful to a fellow brand new Mavic Mini owner. I love my picture quality 2.7k is plant for a recreational and tourist "mode" user such as myself. I see your posts are mostly auto focused and pretty interesting but any other drone vids and learnings as a relatively new magic mini / drone user would be appreciate., Again great job. Thanks!

Took five weeks to get my Mavic Mini from the dji site. But it was worth the wait. Great drone.

Your enthusiasm was great! You couldn't contain your excitement which made your video fun to watch! I'm an old guy and decided to take the plunge, waiting on mine, not concerned with camera quality but I like the fact that it can fly far. I'll be posting my own maiden flight soon!

Getting ready to buy one. Nice demo. I did cringe when I saw you taking your eyes off of the drone for such long periods. Don't let your drone out of your sight for too long. You may not like where it ends up! Thanks for your work. I am going to buy one. My first drone. Can't believe the kit, for only 100 bucks more, comes with 3 batteries and so many other extra items. Idiots hit the dislike buttons.

I feel your pain as I've got the same drone. I live right in the flight path and have to do what you're doing to get to fly. I've had its for four days and the video quality is amazing for this size drone.

FYI... The 400 ft limit is typically AGL (above ground level), but you are permitted to fly even higher if there are tall structures like the cranes close by. If you are within 400 feet of a tall structure you can go 400 feet additionally higher than the structure. For example, if those cranes are 350 ft tall, and you are within a 400 ft proximity, your ceiling level can be as high as 750 ft AGL.

Justin, the extra batteries are about $45.00 each on the DJI website, which you would be right at $90.00 for both. And the fly more combo is the way to go as you get the charger along with the extra batteries. Have fun as the mavic mini is a great drone !!

Invest in landing pad. Good for home I'd and keeps drone clean. Protects blades from small rocks. No dust inside and on camera lenses.
