He’s using the Mini because the Mini2 doesn’t yet support the API that is required for third-party software. In other words this software (and Lichi) won’t work with a Mini 2.
i appreciate this man. i have a mini 1 and i was already considering buying litchi and then i saw this video. thanks dude. keep it up. i really learned a lot from you
Just got my first drone and found your videos amazing when deciding to take the plunge keep up the good work and this app is everything the Mavic mini should have been from the start
Great videos man. I just bought the mini 2 and have been watching your videos because you keep it interesting and not long and boring. Keep them coming.
And pretty difficult to maintain the legally required visual of the drone I would think. Especially when the video shows almost total concentration on the controller and the camera shouting the inside of the car.
Ok... 1st... Love your vids! I'm a newb in the most newest form of newb! It took a while to find the lightning bolt icon. Before anybody does anything, you have to go to the web UI App and make sure there is an existing "Repository", or the lightning bolt icon will not be on the "Native App" when you pull it up. If, the lightening bolt is not there, go back to the "web UI" (user interface), and enter a new Repository; i.e "1st test way-points" or whatever name you choose... then go back to the "Native App" (mobile devise), then the lightening bolt will be there.... Then just follow this video! (love this video!)
Hey, mate; from an 'old' flyer of all sorts of RC in Australia, my venture into Mini and similar... you are the best! Simple, clear, entertaining advice! keep it up - love it Les
Will do Les Thanks for sharing Check out my Mavic Mini Playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLsa8kxbNNuJgEZnWNwWybLCEXUNi8QU2t Happy Flying 😎 #TellOthersAboutDroneXfactor & #HitNotifcationBellForMoreVideos
+1 droneXfactor - Hahaha! Very informative and interesting ...yet... hilarious! Yep, one of your best videos to date young fella! 👍👍 Looks like this app is going to really e-x-t-e-n-d the lifespan of our good old Mavic Minis. 😁 And I don't like finicky Li-Po batteries anyway (hint hint cough cough Mini 2).
You're preaching to the converted. Over the past five months I've used DJI Fly, Litchi and Dronelink on my first edition mini. 1. DJI show no interest in enhancing Fly for Mavic minis, probably as it would reduce the incentive to buy a more expensive drone. 2. Litchi have been slow getting features to a standard release. Sometimes it feels like their developers are struggling. Be very cautious using new features. 3. Dronelink know what they’re doing. When they release something it works. They seem in-touch with their customers. Now I only use DJI fly for freestyle flights, but for everything else I use Dronelink. I even added mapping to my hobby account for a small additional fee. It’s brilliant for a series I’m doing on a construction site. My only criticism of Dronelink is that the maps they use when designing a mission are poor quality in Australia. It’s sometime difficult to design a mission accurately.
I loved this video and when and bought the app only to find that there is no is no Path on the Basic, upgraded to Premium again no Path. I have searching to no avail the packages and don't see it. Has the app changed?

Flying any drone from inside a car will limit your range and image quality. But if you're not flying far it works great. Terrific Video. One question: Can you do exactly what you described in this video with the DJI Mini 2? I am asking because I really want waypoints with any future drone purchase. (I currently have a Holy Stone 720E and am considering a Mini 2, Air 2, or Air 2S.)
Already invested the $28 in Litchi on your recommendation. Had you told us “..but it enables tracking in your phone even when the app isn’t launched” ..I may not have bought it. (And no way to disable it.) Litchi drains the phone battery fast, lowering the time I can fly before having to recharge, as well as for normal (phone) operation. So thanks for that. If you can tell me how to get a refund for Litchi, then I’d consider this new app.
Interesting, I did not know that it tracks you all of the time. My phone's don't have battery life problems and both of them have litchie on them. Also you can toggle off your location, and you're supposed to be able to block location services in your settings to any app you choose. What phone are you using? Also remember, I said if I had to pick one, I use both apps and both are very cheap when looking at the services they provide and both are worth owning, litchie I use because it has fpv mode, which dronelink does not have. So both apps are worth owning! Spend the 20 shebangs more! Increase the options in your life! Thanks for sharing James Happy Flying 😎
droneXfactor ...It does, and states as much in the app description ( iOS ). I use iPhone 6s with 128gb storage. Even when disabling the tracking, it somehow still has an icon showing it’s still active somehow. So no success. I do appreciate you responding to my concerns though. Thank you Xavier.
Bro by watching your drone video and how you dominate that mini inside the car and!!! on top of that!!! you make it come and land on your hand ✋ bro I took out my credit card and bought me one the fly more combo man I'm so excited 😁 😆 🤗 🤪 🙌 ☺ two yrs warranty and I'll get in 6 days ohhh yeah 😄 😀.
I have an Ipad 4 Mini which is 5 years old. I wish to download Dronelink to my Ipad 4 Mini and I have read somewhere that the DJI Mavic Mini will have issues with Dronelink if the Ipad Mini is more than 2 years old. In your opinion is it true that Dronelink will only work effectively in cases where the Ipad Mini is less than 2 year old? BTW my Ipad Mini 4 is running on Version 14.6!
Another very good video. Did you happen to hear if they will be coming out with a version for the Mini 2? If I could get a great deal on a Mini 1 I would definitely get this; probably the premium because I have hills and mountains where I'm at.
That was the shiznit! Thank you!! I am going Bigfoot hunting and I need to set up way points. Question...are the waypoints in the drone or only in the controller. Since I will be in hilly situations with trees and obstructions I'm wondering what happens if I get out of range of the controller. That won't be an issue if the way points are uploaded into the drone.
Cool video and I never knew that there was other software out there that could do this. Recently brought a Mini 2 and I can see from another comment on here that this will not be available for the Mini 2 for quite a while, but great to know that it will be coming at some stage. Opens up a whole bunch of new possibilities not catered for in the DJI fly app👍🏼
Similar to Ardupilot. Waypoint missions are fun. Does DJI offer this for any of the drones stock? I've been flying Pixhawk autopilots for some time. Have a Mavic Air 2 now. Thanks for the video!
So how do you load up dronelink ? I mean do you start to use djifly app first then minimise that and open dronelink ? Or do u not use djifly at all and only dronelink ? I got dronelink but too nervous to use it as its new to me and djifly app I am confident using. Any advice would be awesome
Can you mark waypoints with exact camera orientation in the app? I want to re-fly some basic cinematic shots where I don't have the controller in my hand :) for example 2 waypoints: flying backwards with gimbal down, then raise gimbal to horizon level. Is this possible within the app and the path function?
@@KashuKnave - It's an issue when firing the drone up, as the metal can prevent proper calibration, but after that it seems to be fine - and the controller isn't affected at all. I often fly from inside my car (I assumed interference would be a problem too before I discovered this channel) to avoid all the "What are you doing?", "Are you filming me?" etc, and generally take off from the roof (panoramic sunroof). If I try to fire it up there it almost always asks me to re-calibrate it, so I do that a few feet away then put it on top and jump in for launch. I've never had any issues with loss of signal that I wouldn't have expected anyway if I'd been outside.
Hey Xander greatings from Portugal. I m having difficulty with this app because I can get access to that lightning strike and so I can t get those options, if you could help me I would much appreciated.
Hi I need some help.... When I leave my mavic mini standing still even if there is very little wind it starts rotating... Sometimes to the left and sometimes to the right... It moves very little every second.... It's very annoying especially when trying to get a hyperlapse
Looks ok-----I now have a DJI drone and 2 Parrot drones--Bebop 1 and 2---The Parrot app is WAY better and FREE--you can set unlimited waypoints--camera angles --speed etc all from the map in the app --drone does not need to be connected--It is so good !! I wish DJI would do that !!!
Man i need to link up with you. I went and brought the DJI Mini 2. You know so much about these drone maybe you can school me. This is my first one. Help a bro out.
