@@macklenk8888 Not dark, it's because the Mavic Pro shoots in Log, so you get more dynamic range and need to compensate bringing up the ev, or else it looks underexposed.
I think anything under 500 grams should have been exempted, but Congress, for whatever reason, chose to make the cutoff for FAA registration and restrictions at 250 grams. What can I say though. Write to your Senators and Representatives in Congress.
I tried reporting Casey to RU-vid for not releasing enough content but seems like there isn't an option for that on the report button 😥😥 I miss the daily vlogs
NY: one handed vlogging through traffic on boosted board with drink in other hand. CA: almost falls off bike on pedestrian path. "Live in California once, but leave before it makes you soft."
I calculated it this morning, if you buy the Base Kit and buy the accessories separately, it adds up to about $622.63 with tax. The “ Fly More ” kit alone is about $530.19 with tax. If you do your math right it’s about $92.44 more for the base kit and buying everything else separately.
@@ysvink9121 There is a link, it's by Tommy Newport. I've looked through his entire spotify and can't find it sorry. :( edit: I FOUND IT. It's called "my woman"
DJI isn't cannibalizing its own drone line. It's adding to its customer base. There are plenty of people who were just not going to buy a DJI drone because they didn't want to spend $600. But at $400, they will.
my conclusion after watching several reviews i bought mavic mini.... heres what i found now but i cant say about spark coz i havent test it... 1. the 2.7k 30fps is very nice to have and useful in post for cropping 2 the mini is lacking dynamic range sometimes i dont get the highlight i expected. 3. the 5km range really doesnt matter coz even if u fly more than 1 km u wont able to see... hope u would not want to lose the drone risking to go 5km....also dont go too high altitude strong wind is the worst enemy of the mini. but within 1km range and 200 m altitude hope u will find best angle 4. some are explaining absence of obs sensor at the front.. but dont be... use the camera view as your obstacle sensor 😁 because more sensor on the drone definitely reduces flight time .. you dont need much sensor if u know how to fly and carefully examine sorrounding before takeoff 4. battery life is great ...in real time i can fly 20-25 mins depending on how hard the wind is 5. the quick shot mode is good but only circle mode has the best tracking mode of the locked object. i hope this will be improved in further updates. 6. in video mode the iso and shutter speed cannot be manually adjust...but the ev is quite good for me and always lock your exposure setting so that u can easily edit in post. 7. lastly i cant believe the smoothness of the footage came from this small light drone.... i always wonder the strong wind will be causing trouble but this mini stays strong and fights that wind and still able to take a smooth buttery videos but too much strong wind drains battery and also always scares me that sometimes it almost look like itd gonna lose against wind.... but i am still amazed that it stays strong and how hard it fights against the wind.... still i recommend to be careful against strong wind warning THANKS HOPE THIS WILL BE HELPFUL FOR SOME PEOPLE
@@unixgnuru unfortunately the follow me option has been left off this drone. Huge thumbs down from me as this is a huge feature for.what inwould.need it for... having said that..m I've just ordered it anyway!
@@uptmalaysia2438 if your budget allows a mavic pro and the country you're planning on flying it permits it to be flown, then the obvious choice would be the mavic pro every time
Hey Casey! Thanks for your vlogs that make me smile. You're really lucky to be able to have such a drone. I want one so badly but that will probably stay a dream. You make such beautiful shots with the phantom 4 pro. Anyways, keep making those vlogs, people really need them!
EASA comes with new rules in july next year - ANYTHING that carries a video recording device comes in under the same rules - all across europe - weight becomes irrelevant.
Can you imagine walking down the street and seeing a dude, sitting at a park bench by himself with a tripod and camera setup, throwing tech items out of a white box and talking to himself? Just another day with Casey Neistat
Yeah super nice to see somebody giving the middle finger to all ppl who can’t afford those things showing them how few he cares about stuff that has been given to him as a fucking present.
I like the video comparisons and the rugged unboxing as well. Good job. The propeller guards will bring it over the 249 threshold so either register it or use them indoors.
07:08 "There is a definite difference between the video quality of the, like, $2,200 drone versus the $400 mini drone. But if you're using these things for like RU-vid, or you're using them for family videos or anything like that I don't think you need that pro quality. The video on it isn't just 'good enough,' it's... I think it's very good." And that, friends, is the whole 'hobbyist drone vs. professional drone' quality argument in a nutshell. If you're not making your living with it, the DJI Mini will serve your needs well, with enough money left over to buy a Super 73 (though not the model Casey is riding in the video).
Yeah. That’s just how i felt. Picture was def good enough for most amateur use cases. But given its size and price it’s an easy yes for someone looking for their first drone
I'm not convinced with the video quality even for RU-vid, the low bitrate makes it have a lot of artifacts all over the places, looks quiet bad enough to make me think twice about getting this drone or just wait for another brand to do a similar thing with a better camera
I bought one a few months ago. Range, picture quality and ease of use are top notch for the money. Very easy to fly. I was going to buy a cheaper non-DJI done but realized that for a few dollars more I could get a much better DJI.
I always said he looked like him.. but now that he's in Ca.. wonder if he gets approached more for that reason.. hey he can get many free meals at cool restaurants...
So I've been off watching other vloggers for a few years, I just was ok...but I'm back. Just when I was planning to spice up my content with drone footage (I do live by the Cliffs of Mother FGS). I think you saved me a lot of research. Thank you....good to be back btw👍😎😉
Love the footage shown here would advise buying the mini as a starter drone or as a cheaper option if you are worried about wreaking your drone on some trip. Overall if you are not sure just buy it because unless 400 is what you are using to pay your rent and feed yourself this is a great price for a much better drone.
"this just in the FAA has updated their drones rules, updating the minimum weight from 250 grams to 249 grams. The FAA would like to thank all the youtuber reviews for pointing out their error"
Did anyone else realize that the drone would go past the 250gr if you attached the propeller guard to it? 1. No propeller guards -> Legal and Safe according to the government. 2. With propeller guards -> Danger danger!
@@tcwallace2046 you can easily get this one down to 199, a little bit of x-acto knife action and voila under 200g. Hint, open up the battery case and take a look see
99% why I got the MM. I don’t want the the govt or anyone else knowing more than they need to. I’m not gonna take a 747 down or anything I just want a fun new perspective on my vacations or other work
Please tell me why people don’t want to be registered in FAA , is there any hard conditions ? In FAA because simple a don’t want to buy mavic mini I want mavic air 2
I bought a Mavic Mini and if O tey to use it in sport mode, the props bend and hit the body until they chip, break and it crashes to the ground. $400 is still more than I want to spend on a rock. MIni has been great . . . but does not do well in wind. I have replaced props many, many times. Just bought the PRO 2. Excited to have one with more weight to it. Good video.
Hey Casey, I watch tonnes of your vlogs! May I ask which camera you're using to film this please? Especially the part used to intro from your visual perspective. Many thanks :)
I got a $40 drone for Christmas and I accidentally flew it too high and the wind carried it away. But it was too much fun. And now here I am, looking at $400 drones.
Hey no need to worry. I've seen multiple videos here where they have tested this very thing. It's very capable and holds it's own in high winds just as the Spark did. Even better because much longer flight time and the 3 axis gimbal keeps images stable.
Just bought mine and uploaded an unboxing video. I am pretty excited to fly this thing. First negative, there's only one charger, while for first flight you need to charge both the controller and one battery.
So i wanted to know does your mavic mini give you trouble in regards to the connectivity sometimes like do you loose visual contact with the drone...???
I love that it’s 249g but do keep in mind adding ANYTHING, such as propeller guards, night lights, pretty much anything, it does go over that 250g mark.
@@fuzzylogic218 some youtubers i know upload all their shown files from the video to google drive or something, so you can look at them afterwards in good quality.
@@MalteSpieltYT Awesome thanks. I would love to see the raw uncompressed footage. Im thinking of buying the Mini for weddings that I film as a side gig.
Jonas Sonstwas im Annoyed that you used 2K18 When it would be faster to type 2018 and it sounds better also you used 2019 before why not just continue with the same format
@Super.Steel. Ak Exactly, they aren't some cheap watch that'll break from a little scratch. Unless you are collecting watches that cost hundreds of thousands, don't baby them around.
Rolexes are new money trash watches used to impress people with no money. The reality is that watch costs as much as the options the average soccer mom adds to her BMW X5. 🤷♂️
The Mavric Mini is amazing! The only disadvantage I see between the mini and a larger drone (from the perspective of an amateur RU-vidr) is that the Mavric Mini doesn't do well in wind, even a slight breeze can be in the issue where a larger drone can handle a light breeze just fine. Where I live in the Great Lakes region that is a significant disadvantage because non-breezy days are rare, but otherwise the mini is the way to go for the price. Not to mention 30 minutes of flight time per battery, just $400, you just can't beat it!
5:49 visited LA for the first time in january and we parked in the parking lot right next to that Venice wall artwork, too bad i didn't had my mini with me back then, i can see what footage i missed
