Thanks for the detailed review. I had hoped to see a head to head v the DJI, given the title. . One thing things I think you should have covered is more is on phone compatibility.. I use the DJI wireless on my android device. Its the only one I've found that allows me to record stereo on the phone. I haven't found a third party cable that allows this and I've purchased a half dozen, including the Synco -- two of them.

Hi folks, just had an idea. Two transmitters means we could have one on front and one on back of our talent. Much less risk of losing audio direct into the camera plus we get two back up recordings on the transmitters. Probably not needed indoors or in studio but for wide roaming talent outside it might be very helpful.

Not a 4 peice reciever kit, but the new Theos system from Diety comes damn close to that. That's what I'm upgrading my wireless kit to as soon as they are available. Quite a bit more expensive compared to these or the DJI mic, but you get the full 32bit float, and they can TC sync with their generator :)
@MrMoviePhoneEx

@@JustWhatINeed83 They have 2 kits coming, the Theos is the standard two piece kit, and the other one is a crazy hybrid stereo recorder, can't remember the name, but it's the single option.

When you’re in the room with the white wall background, I hear a constant high pitch noise. It’s not loud, but I can hear it being a constant pitch. Was there something in that room making the noise? Or, was that the mic’s internal self noise? Thanks!

First, thank you for this review! Perhaps I overlooked it, but in the audio comparison with the Rode at 8:19, you give the recording parameters for the MAX as full gain (10), internal camera gain as 1, and then you reveal the internal recording volume for the unit. However, did you explain the settings for the Rode? What was the gain set to on the device/in the camera? Was the sound we heard from the Rode what the camera picked up or the internal recording? You mention "internal mic" but did you mean internal recording or just using the built-in mic? Sorry for all the questions, but in a side-by-side knowing how the gain was rated and where the sound for the Rode was recorded would be really helpful! Thanks
@NOlimitsON
@NOlimitsON Год назад
Hi! Thanks! Rode wireless go (first generation) doesn’t have an internal recording. It was at max gain on Rode and 3-4 gain in-camera. “Internal mic” means that it was the built-in mic of the transmitter.
@OneDegreeLife
@OneDegreeLife Год назад
@@NOlimitsON Ahhhh, makes more sense. Ok. I only have the WGOII so I wasn't aware of the internal recording. Thanks for the additional data though!

So, I bought these and 1 minute later I found a bug. When using a transmitter/mic only in standalone with no receiver, the ENC does not engage. I wrote to Hollyland and after multiple testing and them asking me to document with video, they came to the evidence that some batches have this problem. So they told me to return it and wait for an update or firmware later someday. I'm in Canada and we probably have the bugged ones :) Yes I tried several at different stores, all do the same.

Good review but what I have not seen from any reviewer do yet is using both mics to record a talk. Since the mics seem to pick up a lot of omnidirectional sound, I wonder if this could lead to phasing issues, when both mics pick up both persons.

Me again! In general 2,4 GHz systems will perform better when used near radio reflective surfaces. In that respect a wooded area may well be better than an open plain. Brick walls will also be somewhat reflective. Open plan offices are pretty friendly as well. Large sections of metal though - eg shipping containers - are likely to create radio shadows. These 'wifi' systems all monitor the in band channels and endeavour to skip to the cleanest one in an undetectable manner. For absolute peace of mind you need an alternative frequency licenced to you for your period of usage. Both the kit and the licence for that are much more expensive than these systems - 2.4Hz is licence free over almost the entire planet. Don't risk using licence dependent kit without the licence - all your camera kit, not just the audio stuff, could be confiscated if caught.

If you use a paper clip and press the reset button, it will charge again. It’s an annoying problem that after a few days you have to reset it - but at least it will start charging after you do that. It’s a tiny hole on the back of the charging case.

DJI Mic Killer? DJI Mic are dead anyway. They often lose connection whenever one uses a lav mic (rotating the plugged cable 5° will stop all signals!) and the thing cant even properly be conneccted to the camera. DJI Mic is THE biggest scam in DJIs history…

@TheElliotEquation

I agree with this, the DJI mics are a nightmare and many units, including mine, are defective causing audio synch issues and random popping noises making the audio unusable
@m0nztam0nk
@m0nztam0nk Год назад
@@Angelux31 i have used them on different porfessional shoots. I had 2 (!) critical losses of audio in 3 Projects. 2!!! They have a terrible LAV-Mic connector thats the absolute devil. It will show regular recording when you set it up and then randomly stop working. It tool me an entire day to find out, that this is bec. the 3.5mm jack connector is absolute shite. It will disable and block any signal when after plugging in is rotated more then 3-5°. And as you might imagine, that happens all the time. You cant even solve it by taping the goshdarn thing together, as its not a problem of the thing sloding out but just the slightest rotation. And YES, i tested this with more then 4 different LAV-mices and other 3.5mm jack imputs. Unless one uses these things purely on their own (without lav mic or any other 3.5mm input), one is asking for desaster when using these. I LOVE DJI for their Mavic drones, but these mics are an abomination. These devices are MADE for LAV-mics, yet they never work with any reliability.
@m0nztam0nk
@m0nztam0nk Год назад
@@TheElliotEquation oh, and not to mention they are the only wireless mics on the market that are extremely sensitive for not perfectly shielded lavmics too. So if they dont completely mute their input randomly, then they will just put a huge buzzing sound on almost half the available LAV-microphones out there on the market. (And since these issues pertain the mic input, the affect both internal and wireless Audio signals). These things are an absolute failure.
