I do think they have taken the Mickey with not allowing ND to fit from mini 3 pro even though same camera filter etc apart from they put a plastic lug on the gimbal to stop it
Love your tutorials and so much like your style of presentation. No fuss, no faf, very down to earth, simple and to the point. At the top of my subscription list. Very nice home you have BTW. best wishes Jon
As usual Ian another very detailed and easy to understand video, just love your relaxed delivery. Thanks for taking the time to produce these brilliant videos really appreciate it 👍🏴
Following your basic demo on the prop noise I agree M4P does sound quieter and the tone is lower. I think I was more nervous than you appeared as the M4P avoided those trees. Thanks Ian
Best part of the video for me is that you can see Ian‘s joy flying the new drone. That is all you need from Ian testing the drone. Thanks for the lovely video.
Brilliant video could see you definitely was happy, lol. So you're moving what a shame looks absolutely beautiful where you was.. Still got mine on order. I can't wait. Good luck with the move. I look forward to some more content soon. 😁👍👌🇬🇧
Fantastic video Ian. Really been looking forward to this one! Shame to learn your time at your beautiful house is coming to an end but will love to see the new one! Hopefully just as rural :)
Great as always video. I’d like to upgrade but just bought the Mavic 3 Pro for work jobs. The mini 3 and Mavic 3 work nice together - going to miss your gorgeous garden !
I've just bought a Mini 4 Pro "Fly More Combo" for £860 (Show price (20% off) minus another £20 off) at the Photography show an the NEC in Birmingham. It is my first drone so I have a lot to learn. When I got home last night I added DJI's 2 year - 4 low cost replacement package for another £119, and this morning I have just registered with the CAA for my operators ID (£10.33 per year) and written it on my M4P with a fine tipped marker pen as per legal labelling requirements. So I'm now set to go. But I am also looking to purchase useful accessories for it, like a prop guard & folding landing gear (so I won't have to worry about damaging the blades and I will be able to take off and land on much rougher ground) plus for the RC2 remote, a 3-1 sunshield/screen protector/ joystick protector, plus a clip on lanyard. I know these are not essential items but when you have paid almost £1000 of your own hard earned money for something then it's worth paying a little more for the added protection and peace of mind.
Coming from the Mini 2, it's absolutely incredible. I don't fly for fun, but to get the shot. Yesterday went out in the morning, went through the 3 batteries, recharged at home, back out in the evening. Did waypoints, active track, poi, cruise control. I think I've become a fun flyer...😂😂
@@IaninLondon So is the Mavic 3 if you want a real workout! 2 functions in 1! Good luck with the move, one day it would be amazing to go for a fly perhaps.
The betterment for me is the light for gutter surveys so the shadows don't obscure the detail. My concern is still that you have to ask DJI for permission to fly as a commercial pilot.
I've Been a fan of yours for quite some time now, i l love your tutorials, straight to the point and very understandable, so I thought I might ask you, have you flown the Mavic 3 Classic and commented on the settings? Or did I just miss your presentation.
Hello Ian, greetings from the Czech Republic. You have a great video about the new DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. I am looking to trade in my Air 2S drone, so hopefully that will work out and I will be thrilled with both the drone and the RC 2 controller. Thanks for the video 👍. Libor
I will refer to the bombshell American actress today, my friend. Mae West once said, “I generally avoid temptation unless I can’t resist it.” Like you, I have the Mini 3 Pro and the Air 3. Why do you tempt me so with this presentation? Have fun. Fly well. Be safe.
It genuinely is, although you don't say what, if any, you already own. But in truth, it's a brilliant, very capable little drone. Very glad I bought it....
Hi Ian had the first Air 2 then a DJI FPV then an Avata But the signal has always been a letdown. How was the mini 4 pro for going around that bush where you were losing signal?
Nice video. I agree about the ND filter suitation. That's just rotten, DJI, are you not making enough money? It does sound a little quieter in pitch, which is welcome. I'm still on the fence about upgrading. The Mini 3 is so capable, and ND filters are a must.
First thing I noticed when spinning up for the first time, which I was recording on an Action 4 on a neck strap was the extra quietness over the mini3pro. Hope you've spotted that you can plug the receiver for the DJI mic into that lone USB3 on the RC2. controller. Best Dave
Looks fantastic Ian!! I remember using an affiliate link from yourself to DJI for the Mini 1, yes, I still have it lol. So many useful features and new abilities on a par with advanced drones. Would you recommend the Mini 4??
As Alex says; the Mini 1 to the Mini 4, with the RC 2 remote, will be a massive upgrade for you, both on drone and remote. Would absolutely recommend it.
Another fantastic video Ian. Clearly you're very please with the new addition to your drone collection. Just sold my Mini 2 to upgrade to the Mini 4 Pro, can't wait. Good luck with the move 😁👍
Hi Ian, I have been waiting for this rundown by you, saw many others but I'm not keen on "Yo" or "Wassup" monkeys plus your advice is the real deal. This looks like you are going to tease me into shelling out a bucket full again. The non total obstacle avoidance with my 3 pro has always given me the yips but the 4 pro will calm my nerves, does the newer RC 2 remote kick the RC off the field, I might wait till the steam has gone and get the RC 2 when it drops in price but then again I might sell a few kids. The new batteries seem to be a great upgrade too....... got to go, need to polish the plastic card ! Thanks and great to see you again. cheers mate . Stu . (the legs are a great addition, the cradle legs that are on sale are daft as they ramp it up way over 250g) 👍✌
The live video on the RC2 is crystal clear. But remember, IMHO you should normally be flying above all the obstacles... That said, as I say, the best camera is the one that's with you and the one you can fly almost anywhere.... :)
I think, the Mini 3 Pro should be better in Active Track from behind because ists front cameras and back cameras have more resolution and range than the new wide-angle cameras (0,39 - 25m vs. 0,5 - 18m) ...did you feel that as well?
@@IaninLondon yes, and this cameras of the Mini 3 Pro sees better into the front. They see more detail because no fisheye lenses and further ( 25m vs. 18m) the older drone should have advantages avoid small objects at higher speed if you track yourself from behind. In some of the extrem tracking test videos you can really feel/see that - in my opinion.
Right. If you already have the Mini 3 Pro, then your second drone should offer something very different, for the situations you need that difference. So I would be hoping and waiting for an Air 3S with a huge big sensors, to get amazing stills. The Mini 4 Pro is a nice upgrade, but I wouldn't see much point in having a 3 Pro and a 4 pro. hope this helps.....
@@IaninLondon Like yourself I stay between many fields and get used to the Cluster fly's ,Wasps,Mice etc. I am very sure it's going to look bloody marvelous 😍. Take many cuttings as you will definitely miss that garden 😊
@@IaninLondon Sorry posted a link 🙇 Comment vanished. It was just to say look after Ted and the animals, they will find it harder than any of you to adapt.
Hi Ian: Currently using Mavic 2 pro for flying between waypoints planned at home. Trying to establish whether one of the mini series can do this as I'd really like to go lighter and more portable. Can't get an answer from the DJI website so thought I'd ask an expert! Thanks.
Hi Ian love the videos , Ian have an Air 3 with the RC and and a mini 3 (not pro).with a fly more kit . Am I going to gain much in picture and video quality with the mini 4 pro ? Can sell the mini 3 so not that expensive. Or wait for a mini 5 pro ? Thanks
The Mini 4 Pro has prettymuch the same sesnor as the Mini 3 std and Air 3, so you'll not gain much other than obstacle avoidance. Defo wait for the Air 3S or Mini 5 Pro (neither of which I know anything about but I'm guessing are on their way......)
@@IaninLondon thanks for the reply , that’s kind of where I am with it , nearly pulled the trigger on the Avata 2 combo the other days with 10% very voucher. That looks fun , it keeps temping me for FVP videos rather than the mini 4 pro .
Hi Iain. Great videos mate. Dave in Suffolk here. I have just purchased the DJI Controller that has a built-in screen. Can you tell me how I un-pair my existing Mini 2 from the older style controller, the one that uses a phone as the viewing device? Then how to re-pair the drone to my new built-in screen controller. Keep up the great videos sir. David.
Hi buddy. Great video. I have just sold my mini 2 and ordered the 4 pro straight away, which arrives Tuesday 😊. If i just want the drone to follow my motorbike at say 50m do i just put it into the air at the height and orientation I want then click track. Sorry if thats a silly question but i have never used tracking on a drone. Many thanks 👍
Thank you for lots of great info Ian, I just lost my mavic 2 pro to the sea yesterday and am now looking for something lighter. Mini 4 pro sounds good but can the smart controller I used for the mavic 2 pro be used for the mini 4 ?
Ah, very sorry to hear that..... and worse, the Smart Controller only works with older drones, including the MIni2 but not the Mini 3 or 4. But the new RC controller is great to use.....
If you have the 2 and the 3, and wanted 'One Drone to Rule Them All (and in the darkness bind them)' then yes, the Mini 4 is a genuine perfect all rounder, easily an upgrade for you.
Thanks for that matey and will start looking on prices to ask for the mini 2 and mini 3 combo kits. When I sold my Mavic Air 2 on ebay I got stung as ebay charged me for selling it and lost about £50 or £60 due to ebay fees.
I've done one flight after sunset and will do another properly after dark... the quality is excellent. Bear in mind the Mini 3 batteries are heavier, so put you over the 250g limit.
@@IaninLondon yeah, I know it's not much but it pushes it over the top. And judging from my experience with "Counter Drones", they're looking forward to being able to issue fines based on a couple of grammes.
Waiting on the Mini 4 Pro arriving any day now and I also bought the base package with the RC-N2, you commented on DJI maybe making it compatible with the DJI RC, have you heard anything more on that as I don't want to go back to attaching my phone to the controller?
Just bought the mini 4 pro. Only had a quick flight but noticed the ar Green line was not working on rth. I think that the settings are correct. Any advice please? Tia.
Nice, was thinking about one of these then someone told me about the Costco offer on Mini 3 with RC screen controller for just £395.00, That will do for me, only want it for the camera not really interested in the gimmicks, and the mini 4 camera doesn't look that much better.
Great for all round obstacle avoidance but don't like side senses as if flying straight for a good video shot, it's not going to go straight as I love the mini 3 pro for some forward flying shots, obstacle avoidance I never use if you are a good drone operator, and with fpv goggles, you can fly through some very tight spots and get amazing footage..the mini needs a bigger camera, not other stuff..leave it there for the mini 4, more 5, 6 and so on...
Not sure what you mean. If you have it set to 'brake', it won't veer sideways; it will just brake if it's about to hit something. Or you can just flick into Sport mode and the OA turns off...
No; it's so fiddly, and you use up the set of screws they provide you with (as you're not supposed to re-use them as they have thread lock on them). I'm fine with the 3's noise; the 4 is just a tiny bit quieter.... :)
I spoke to DJI support earlier today over the phone and asked them will the 120m max altitude for the mini drones affect us here in the UK, they said YES come january 2024! i told them the UK is not in the EU but they said it will definately happen via a firmwere update that inludes the UK! I have the original Mini 2 still on old firmware 1.6.9, and will not update under any circumstances!
I actually doubt that. The Air 3 has a faster speed of 21 m/s here in the UK but it's limited to 19 M/s in EU, so they already differentiate between the UK and the EU, so I would absolutely expect them to do so with this....
I too have the Air 3 and mini 4 pro, what is the procedure to share/bind to both drones? Are the controller settings retained on the controller to do the same thing on both drones? For now, I am taking both controllers... if you could show how you change the Tx from one to the other and back again, that would be good. Greetings from Australia
When you use the plus battery inside the Mini 4 Pro do you get a warning? And can you get this warning off of the screen? I’ve seen some RU-vidrs in Europe having this error message appear on their screens and they can’t get rid of it
As is usually the case, excellent tutorial Ian. Could you do me a favor and take a look at what resolution your screen recording of the new RC2 is? With my RC, unfortunately, I don't get higher than 540p (540x960) and find that very poor. It looks like your screen recording of the RC2 has gotten a little better but still not 1080p I think like I had with my ipad mini 5. Second question: you mentioned that DJI might make the RC also suitable for the Mini 4. That would be great for me because I already have two and OCU sync 3 is more than enough for me. How did you come up with that statement? Is that a wish or did you hear that somewhere? Hear from you, regards from the Netherlands.
Hi Ronald. 1; screen recording resolution = 720 x 1280, so it's an improvement 2, I read a post on the DJI Forum about the lack of compatibility with the RC Pro and the DJI team said this was being worked on.....
@@IaninLondon Thanks, that is a lot better than the 520p and encourages me to purchase a Mini 4 with RC2 in addition to the mini 3 pro after all. I also read that thread and the question asked was about the RC controller and the answer was about the RC pro!! I will wait a bit and see what will happen and maybe I make myself a nice Christmas present, who knows.
@@IaninLondon I also made a thread on the DJI forum and got this reply. People (DJI) are talking about maybe making the RC Pro capable but unfortunately not the RC that comes with the Mini 3 pro. 'Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. The DJI RC and the Mini 4 Pro are not compatible at the moment. We can't provide relevant information yet about the future plans for the Mini 4 Pro and RC Pro but rest assured that we will register the information and provide feedback to the related departments for evaluation.'
Hi Ian , Do you have best settings for the mini 4 pro for smooth flight and gimbal movements or go on your vid for mini pro - 5 best settings vid ? Thanks
When I set the 360 dynamic Focus Track, it was flying through way more trees than I was comfortable and the Focus Track 360 was set to fly right into them; branches above, behind and on either side. It genuinely passed the test.
Excellent 1st video! After some use of the mini 4 pro i would like your honest opinion on weather its worth selling the mini 3 pro for the mini 4 pro 👍
I genuinely would, but it's the RC2 with the higher res live video that is part of the appeal. If you like Active Track and would make use of it, and fly low near obstacles, then the 4 Pro as some real gains for you....
do you need to turn on obstacle avoidance in settings - got mine today took off in living room to do the rc2 settings and tried getting close to the wall to see if it was possible, it flew straight up to the wall where the rotor blades were just skimming it so looks like mine is off atm straight out of the box - unless its because im indoors but didnt think that would matter
Ian, 'nobbygreen' reported an error in the filelocation of the screen recording. With the RC it was put on your mini sd card but now it seems to be put on the internal part and you have to extract from there. Is that the same with you?
It's daft but the 120m height restriction really bugs me even though I'm only ever likely to maybe want to breach that somewhere super remote like in mountain terrain. Apart from that niggle, there's no reason not to buy one from what I've seen so far.
So to the £1000 question if you already had the mini 3 pro and the air 2s and had money burning a hole in your pocket in the U.K. would you buy the Air 3 or the mini 4 pro ( assuming you were not a Tuber)
Maybe wait a few months to see if the Air 3S will come out with a bigger sensor. Otherwise you would be selling the mini 3 Pro if you got a mini 4 Pro. 👍🏻
@@IaninLondon Interesting. I would not sell the Mini 3 Pro. I never sell any of them to be honest. I just like all the additional features of the Mini 4 Pro.
