I’m thinking of upgrading my Air 2… absolutely love it, but thinking Air 2S for the 1 inch sensor. Major put off with the Air 3 is the smaller sensor, and the price - esp if a 3S is imminent

What I would like to see 1.Full sky capture for Panoramas 2. 4 / 5g option 3. Usb C socket in the batteries 4. Bracketing for Panoramas 5. Dolly zoom Features 6. Interchangeable camera 7. Gimbal lens hood 8. Active automatic retractable Gimbal protection 9. Solid-state batteries Graphine, maybe 10. Insta360 Sphere compatibility. 11.The ability to use it as a handheld stabilised camera. 12. Built in silent fan. 13.The ability to shoot 6k AKA 5.6k video 14. A 3 stage rate switch, which would change the sensitivity of the sticks. 15. Film presets similar to the Fujifilm camera's Well I am just dreaming 😂

Cant wait to see some reviews on the Neo. We're very bummed about the DJI situation in the US drone community. Great company with great products. They don't deserve what they are getting and frankly, US companies are 5+ years behind in drone tech and the drones they are making are all for corporate types and government wanks. They are not priced within the reach of consumers and most are actually...well...crap. Think Skydio. Over priced, underwhelming and terrible support. It seems they don't really want us to have drones. Hoping the EU can maybe do more than US companies seem capable of. With DJI out of the picture there will be even less incentive for US companies to innovate for the consumer drone market.

Thanks Ian, you've helped in my imminent decision in acquiring an Air 3. Perhaps you can help in clearing up a matter regarding the controllers? Does the RC-2 disconnect from Wi-Fi after takeoff like the initial RC controller?

new DJI constraint -- make sure you fly when there is no wind. and bring a loupe to see your microdrone.

I just wonder if the Bill specifies DJI drones only , if DJI have another company building the same drones just rebranded in effect would that get around the bill ? Im sure DJI will do everything possible to keep selling to the US market.

Loads of text, sorry for that. Living in Japan and here you have to register and use RID on pretty much any drone and rules are freaking complex and if you want to do anything professional or remove some restrictions for which you would need clearance from government the license is crazy. I managed to get the document that the government hands out to schools for the theory part and it's 80 pages pdf and the license for the first license level (they actually call it 2nd level) and costs you like half of a drivers license and I think I would have to link it to my social number or something. Then you need the practice test and a physical test that you are in shape and not blind XD. They are trying to make the process a bit faster and easier for some parts but it's Japan. It's still overcomplicated and old and slow. I bought the 3 mini pro last year spring but got pretty demotivated after realizing there are hard to deal with rules that were not that apparent at first but lately finally managed to fly a bunch. I'm keeping an eye now on the Air3 S for potential Christmas or birthday and then mini pro5 if I really keep on doing drone stuff here. I'm still a beginner and don't quite get the epic shots yet with it but when I show some pictures or clips to people they are usually surprised and in awe as well. I hope I can get some people to get less scared of it here. I recently encountered an elderly guy on top of a mountain at a temple (was pretty cool and unexpected from my hike) who I talked to and he mentioned some drone crimes happening and stuff but he seemed cool. They are pretty scared and cautious of it because of some idiots.

Keep waiting for the next model and you'll never get anything. Just buy the current one and sell whan a new one comes out. You'll loose some cash but start with a new drone and fresh battery's.

@CLLUK I was waiting for a Mini 5, but with no news on a release date I couldn't wait any longer and got the mini 4. If u have a Mini 3 allready, maybe consider the Avata 2, it's far more fun to fly than a Mini, although the mini is better if you just want to take pictures. I got the avata 2 a week after the mini 4 and I've put alot more flying time on the Avatar. I only use the mini for photos as its not much fun to fly.

@@JohnSmith-ef8nr Thanks John. I never like to sell my drones. They become part of the family. I know, quite fickle. Photography is one of the main reasons I fly. The M4P has the same sensor as the M3P and I couldn't justify upgrading. Hopefully the successor (M5P?) will have an uprated sensor and at least 20MP (native) resolution and more compared to the present 12MP/48MP QBF offering.

Yes, you always want to update all the batteries whenever there is a battery firmware update, otherwise you might get a firmware mismatch error.

Having a collection like that, how do You manage to take good care of all their batteries? The health of the batteries is a top question. A battery that suddenly drops capacity will impose great danger to the drone. Now they have fear again. Personally I upload nothing to the DJI account, keep it all in my Pc. What could outnumber a Mini 3 pro and a Mavic 3 pro? Nothing so far.

DJI batteries are actually very good at looking after themselves as they automatically discharge to around 65% and prevent full depletion....

According to latest news, the ban never made it through Congress, so for now at least, the ban is dead... however that doesn't mean they won't try again.

I haven't seen that. My latest news was that it had passed the house of representatives, which is the first stage. And we'll be presented to Congress in December tacked on to another bill. Either way, I don't think this is going away.....

Congress = US House of Representatives + US Senate. So the bill has been through the US House, but not yet through the Senate :)

However that doesn't mean they won't try again and apparently it could mean a new ban, that covers not just DJI but far more than originates from China or even where China is involved... This ban may be dead, but as Ian says, It's not going away.
