Lol I just commented the same thing. Said I was getting PTSD because I had my lenses toward the sun for a second and ended up having to send them in to be replaced lol but DJI’s customer service is fuckin GREAT when it comes to goggles. Literally the same day they broke I had a shipping label and they were sent out the next day. Got to California in 2 days and I live in PA. Got a new pair 3 days later. It was absolutely the most insane A+++ customer service I’ve ever experienced.
I saw a video recently and the guy was having the exact same issue you're having with jitters. He ended up finding a solution by removing the back cover off the camera and applying some super glue I think on the lens barrel threads. Look up Darren Allett video on the DJI O3.
Thanks for the honest feedback. I feel the same about the forced obsolescence of the black remote but what upsets me more is that they replaced it with an inferior product (gray remote). Sorry to say but you may want to rethink that gray remote after your crash. I've done a few non-scientific tests on the gray remote and the signal is so unpredictable. By the way, made me sweat a bit how you're pointing your goggles into the sun ;)
Appreciate the honest feedback - thanks for sharing. I didn't get into the (dji) fpv trend until the Avata, and it seems that was a lucky situation based on the current state of the older systems. as a newer entry into fpv (dji and beyond) though, the new Goggles 2 and O3 system are amazing... I'm not having any jitter issues on 2 Geprc drones (mark 5 and cinebot 30) with O3 and both have TPU based softmounts. The biggest challenge for me was the fact it doesn't make sense to use both the controller and vtx from DJI, so I now put elrs on all drones with O3. :) take care!
I don't understand the complaining about the dji remote controller if you are really serious about getting into the hobby you would invest in a good proper RC transmitter and would only use the o3 for video.
That is an opinion. I have been in RC for more than 20yrs. I have used everything but with Dji I don't want to add additional weight, but additional rx, and not use the built in Features.
I was gonna say the same thing because it’s a sudden jitter during the flight although I have seen a few posts about the camera lenses on three out of four of the 03 air units needing glue to secure them I saw another guy went through the same exact soft, mounting of the camera, and a few other things until he discovered it’s the lens it needs some hot glue and DJ I need’s to be contacted.
Great vid man! It's not just with FPV..the downright sheer audacity of making previous kit redundant exists in their mini drone range, where a RC controller ( with a screen - big bucks) cannot be used with a new model...😐
Thank you for your comments on this one. I have the V2 goggles and older DJI setup and have been debating on whether to go to this O3 and Goggles 2 or switch to HDzero. I was really leaning toward the O3 setup, but mostly because of the onboard stabilized video recording. You have me really second guessing that now.
It was a serious dick move for DJI to not only charge $300 for the original controller, but to then make sure it doesn't work with the new system. At least they made the V2 goggles work with the new o3 air unit and the OG Vistas work with the new goggles 2.
I hope DJI fixes that binding issue. That's my biggest issue. Resolution looks great on V2 goggles. Comparable latency and on board recording is a sweet touch but switching inbetween 03 air unit system and FPV system before binding isn't always seamless for me. To be dead honest I'm not seeing the great penetration upgrade everyone talks about either
Same, I feel like the vista and original air unit does better right now. I did the ham file and tried on the v2 and goggles 2 and still have bad range and penetration. The only thing better to me is the video resolution.
There is a thing I saw that the lens migh be loose in the camera unit, someone fixed it by opening it, and fixing the camera, he had no more jitter of jello at all...
This seems to be the most real review of the system that I have seen… It is definitely something that I will buy at least one unit of in the future however, certainly not in the next year… This confirms all of my suspicions
Not sure if you know this yet DJ I messed up on their molds for sure the actual lens in the threads are loose and that's why you're getting the shaking you actually can just take a little bit of super glue or liquid electrical tape you got to open up the camera and then where the lens threads in put a little bit of that electric liquid electrical tape or something there and it takes it all the way I know it's shity but it works
I think people need a reality check about technology and move forward not backwards. Too many complains about DJI and older goggles. There is a reason why DJI, and actually any other tech company always tip toes around backwards compatibility. You can't move forward if you're stuck in the past.
the 03 was a ez pass for me, even the new goggles just dont have enough improvements for me to justify purchasing them. at least give us more range or something. a go pro i have from years ago does enough for me. people are not usually totally honest in these reviews pushing hype over practicality.its good to see honesty
Have you checked your pwm setting for your motors? In the manual for the O3 DJI mention 24khz resonance and you need to change your pwm motors to 48 instead. Also for stabilization I would use gyroflow instead of rocksteady anyway.
@@userAndix have heard many people saying to change to 48khz but this is the first time I’ve heard what you’re saying. Interesting, can you please explain what happens with 48khz freestyling?
@@SilverFox80521 For me I flew it after installing bluejay, it felt rather sluggish and did not have a fast response. When changing back to 24khz it felt much better way more direct. I read that the recommendation for freestyle is 24khz and for more cinematic 48khz. My flight on 48khz reflected that on with bluejay. Might be different for other escs, tunes or firmware. If you have bluejay you would just have to reflash , your experience might differ.
Sad thing is that some people will view this and think it’s a solid review and not buy the O3. It’s an awesome system and works well for me. I agree with some of your points….. yes, DJI is all about the $$$ This system is a game changer for me. Absolutely zero regrets!!!!
Not a game changer. It's an "improvement". the original versions were game-changing with the introduction to digital. This system boasts image stability but it doesn't it doesn't work. I can beat the hell out a gopro or osmo mounted with no issues. Let see super wide FOV props pops in shot. Mine and others have a fail safe issue so ppl say go get a "real" controller and it's not a drop in for all frames. Not work the cost and hassle for me. On positive is it's super clear and make the Vista look like analog.
@@Bigballvlogs sorry to hear that! It’s a game changer for me. The stabilization works for me, and I hard mounted mine. Using Armattan Gecko frames. The fact that I don’t need to mount a GoPro is in fact a game changer. But like I said earlier sorry things didn’t work out for you. My stabilization didn’t work at first, but I set the PWM frequency in my ESC to 48 and it works for all three of my builds.
Also the image stabilization so the gyro has to be in the camera because of the angle you are flying or else it wouldn't work right if it was in the air unit the air units it's flat you wouldn't get stable footage it has to be in the camera
The vibrations getting past the stabilization are a known issue. The camera needs to be soft mounted using large gummies with lots of space. Rubber orings won't suffice.
Nice review, same I fly for fun and not really focus on video, flyable is more important. another bad about o3 is the low light, lack of dynamic range. I will prefer polar at night. No o3 for now.
i dont know man...i dont agree with you but i understand you.🙃 like yeah it is maybe expensive.. But o3 is market leading so its critical to make new goggles to unlock its full potential. From my opinion the footage is still unusable. I use the o3 in all of my quads because of the live view and signal strength but I still shoot on gopro. The only time i would shoot on the air unit is when i have to use a sub 250 quad. then ok there is no better other option. And generally if a new revolutionary tech comes out dont buy it right away (if not youtuber) because the market needs to adjust to that tech, release new frames ect. (phisical drone tech changes are important i think because drones are not perfect, in 10 years we dont want still the same looking quad with the same problems.) And you mentioned something with the signal loss, well use a gps module for failsafe. i use it even on my freestyle quads, you never know. 😃
I have the Nazgul f6. I use cross fire for the control and 03 for the vid. I have NO jitters. I'm not a pro ether and I don't get my drones free (I wish!) but I do a ton of chase vids with my DJI FPV drone. So I use the goggles that came with it. Yup it's a little of a pain in the butt to switch between them. But I do have the Avata also and the older goggles so I have it times 3! I think using the cross fire is better. If I loose the vid I don't loose the drone. I can do more in setup with this option through Betaflight. I even have return to home gps on loos of signal. It's kinda cold and windy now so I only have a handful of flights under my belt with it. But so far so good
It’s cause he has an unstable frame. If he would get one like a nazgul/apex frame and softmount the O3 camera he would be perfectly fine. DJI emphasized that the onboard gyro isnt tolerant to vibration. It’s his fault not DJIs
I almost got one for my QAV-S mini 4 I got set up for long range. Wanted more flight time. Well instead I invested in a upgrade energy dark energy Li-ion and got 30 minutes. So I shelved the idea of getting an 03 and seeing the reviews I'm glad I did. Vista/V2 4 life
Sorry to hear you're having issues with the 03. I have one I put it in my moongoat I have no jitters it's not soft mounted it works pretty good The stabilization works in the recorded video not while you're flying. As for the controlling my advice would be to get an aftermarket radio I fly a Tango to that way if you lose video you still have control of your quad and you may be able to punch out and regain video What's the DJI remote when you lose video you lose controlling Link I hope you have better luck in the future Keep flying The vista is still my favorite

Putting the gyro in the VTX instead of the camera would not work properly since the VTX is located at the opposite end of the camera it’s stabilizing. As for the vibration, did you change your PWM to 48khz? I’m guessing yours is at 24khz which is known as the cause of the jitters in the DJI stabilization. Look into that I think it will solve your problem.
I had the exact same issue with mine and I took the O3 camera housing apart and found out the lens inside the housing was loose from the factory and so I glued it back to the camera sensor and now the jitters went away.
Thx. I was ate up in the a++ with getting one of these 03's , but now I'm going to wait. I'm wondering how the G 2's work with the older Air's with the Oleds and everything. My concern is the real time visual. Anything that makes a notable difference in flight sight without a lot of signal drops is a plus for me. All the videos on the 03's show near perfect real time sight with the G 2's compared to the V2's with the older Air's. Guess they intentionally leave out the problems like u are having. I know what u r saying about DJI dropping backward compatibility, but hopefully the extra money they will make doing that will go into bettering the equipment as they have been doing. It is a business that needs to make money to survive. But it looks like they still need to work out some more bugs in the 03. Until then, I'll wait for the fix before upgrading.
vista/older air units on the goggles 2 looks amazing, I watched dvr and swapped back and forth between the v2 and the goggles 2 - the goggles 2 breath new life into the vistas IMO. way better image quality in comparison. thats the only thing keeping me from selling my goggles 2, because the fit is pretty lame and the ipd adjustment knobs are annoying and always coming loose.
You're really better off not using the DJI control link anyways. CRSF or ELRS are way better, I have never ever failsafed on Crossfire, but I'm thinking of maybe switching to ELRS personally.
I’m such a dummy…got new air unit trying to get installed fried my FC but thought I fried the o3 so quickly bought another now I have 2 o3 and need a couple of FC to match. For some reason the plug wasn’t giving the o3 power I think I hit it w solder iron 🤦🏻♂️
@@combinacijus thank you my friend. Could I have blown FC from powering on if my connector was backwards? I even tried to direct solder to FC with no luck. I may need to attach my red wire to my main red power lead as I’ve been trying w 5v and reading that o3 needs more power
I just cant do the 03 with how expensive it is. When Aliexpress has its sales... you can stack one of their coupons and I just purchased two Runcam Link Wasp units for $115 each after tax and shipped and a few months prior to that I got the Vista nebula pro for $120 after tax and shipped. The 03 just aint worth the price
Nice video and I understand many of your concerns about the o3 system. You say that $650 for a new pair of goggles is too much, while you own 2 pairs of the old system that cost $550 some time ago. That doesn't add up for me at all. I have completely switched to Goggles 2 and am just waiting to upgrade the rest of my quads to o3's. I was able to design soft mount camera holders printed out of TPU for most of my frames. So that wasn't really a big deal. Maybe you're just frustrated because you only took a half step into the new system. Best wishes and cheers!
I don't have the jitters with an AOS frame, but I am a little disappointed of not much option as far as manual camera settings & it doesn't even have 30fps option. I am curious though, did your goggles get messed up in the making of this video? I got a burn in on my goggles for having direct sunlight for just a few minutes.
i also got couriose about the sun, i burned one set of goggles v2 just for a second in the sun, and my other set of v1 goggles also have a little defect but this one was made inside house, maybe because of some light, didnt understand what hapend.... seeing all this video with the goggles pointing direct to the sun was trefiyng to me lool... now i always cover my goggles lens even for a second... i have the goggles 2 now, and i am super carefoul with them.
next time u buy some stuff try out a fatstrap for your goggles, its a really good and tight fit and you dont have that weird thing over your head last year around july i was rly hyped to get all the stuff needed to build a new drone with 03 air unit and goggles 2. even though i have the v2 for 1.5 year. but i lost all interest just the way they unfold us their roadmap with the avata, motion controller, no this controller but yes the other one. blablabla
I think you should check your tune It looks like every time you give it throttle that’s when the jitters happened try turning the I gain up and d down . and bad image stabilization I guess you’ve never had a RunCam orange 5
It's a very well known issue, you have to set the pwm to 48khz. Please next time do some research before posting videos on youtube, otherwise you are just making disinformation.
I for one, do not plan to buy the O3 air unit as I have the v2 goggles and dji controller and it is not compatible with the O3, I am seriously considering buying into Walksnail instead of the O3 and get a proper RC transmitter
I mean that's the thing tho if you were honestly really looking to get into the hobby you would have chalked up the money for a good RC transmitter and not have bought a dji controller.
Dont review stuff you aint got a clue on man sorry to hate but this hobby would not be where is is today without dji fact ! Technology moves forward you should just stick to bnf when u build your own quads ul understand
