This has got to be the best "real-life" review--- combining different cameras and just making the review part of the entire real-life experience. So much better than all the other tech review channels that hardly put the tech through real-life usage in a dynamic way.
This is a killer review.... you put through all the test I would want to cover. iPhone 14 Comparison was fantastic. Thank you so much for doing this Potato Jet!
DJI is my favorite brand. I have the Pocket 2 and it’s actually my primary option to film on. I simply don’t use my canon just because I can’t afford a gimbal. And phone is great but a lot of the time I have information loaded on it and need it for other stuff
Dylan and Sam in the same video, nice… Love how you brought other cameras into this Gene instead of just shooting an ad like some creators. RESPECT this so much.
Gene: Here’s everything great about the Osmo Action 4…. also… here’s a bunch of stuff I was supposed to do videos on but didn’t and here are my quick thoughts on those….
Can you elaborate why you prefer smaller sensor with faster lens vs bigger sensor with slower lens? Or anyone who can elaborate it for me please, much appreciated!
Did the FIX the bad focus that ruined the Action 3? The firmware did nothing. Also, for long recordings, do the files now save as one file (like in iPhone) OR do they save as many little clips. The Action 3 using many clips for long shoots resulted in a sound "glitch" when putting the clips back into the one long shoot.
@potato_jet. So…the focus is fixed? The longer one-take clips are still broken into chunks or one big file? The chunks often had audio glitches between clips.
So…it’s an Air3/Mini 3 Pro/Mavic 3 Pro (secondary) sensor…seems like they are trying to standardize the sensors they are using in their current lineup.
Finally a really comprehensible low light test. Like we know what a dave and busters looks like in life and in other recordings, not like under bridges or very specific events. I really want the action 4 now 😳
I’m excited for the camera. I have always been a fan of the DJI Action series of cameras. When I got the action 3, I knew it wasn’t going fly on my drones often and I use it as a vlog camera. I’m really interested in testing the Action 4 in low light situations for fpv.
Great video. I'm glad I waited for Action 4. Can you share the link for the nacklace mount/stick thing that you're using in the first minute of the video please ?
3:28 wrong lense used for the 14 pro …definitely bad ….should have used the main camera and at least clean the 14 lense what I can see is hand oil causing that fogish look
I would have liked to see a comparison to the insta360 one rs with the 1" lens. I feel like this is the direct competitor to the action4, rather than a Go 3
I think a ton of people are waiting on GoPro and will be disappointed... this thing has great audio, seems to overheat less, magnetic click mount and a larger sensor... GoPro needs to really step it up with a big update and lately its been pretty small stuff so I suspect it will not surpass this.
@@MichaelJMelo to be fair.. GoPro existed in like 2003 when they had to actually create the tech and when DJI made their first action cam it was just a clone of the GoPro leaching off what GoPro grew for a userbase with millions in advertising and using the mounts gopro developed. Seems like GoPro started to slow progress after their Karma drone failed... like it's been tough for them to recover financially to make the developments needed.
@@mainelyhobbies Right… they’ve had a head start of 7 versions of hardware. But does anyone care? When people are choosing a camera, they don’t care about how it started… they just care about performance and end results. How many times did we beg GoPro for a selfie screen before they finally added it? How many times are we going to complain about overheating and glitches? How many times did we ask for better low light capabilities? GoPro needed the DJI action to light a fire under them. I, like you… are hoping that it leads to an amazing GoPro.
Loool. I bought the action 3 last Thursday, for my boyfriends birthday at the end of the month. I was looking for when the action 4 was coming out but didn't see anything on Google. So yesterday, when all these videos dropped... I was like 'f**k off' 🤣🤣🤣. Put the action 3 in for a refund and just ordered the 4 today from DJI. My boyfriend thinks I'm crazy but he'll thank me later.
Great VIDEO!!! Gene , Dylan & Sam The 3 Amigoes Need to be together!! I have the Action 1 & 3. Now I need to have the 4. FOMO! I wanna see whether Gene can use action cameras as studio cameras🤣
Rode ME can use multiple microphones (sold separately) and you can use the GO 2 TX with the internal recording. The benefit of the ME is that it can connect to an iPhone or Android phone using the lightning or USB-C cable without needing adapters. However for the price the cheap $20 wireless microphones have great audio quality.
I have the action 3, and I put a wind sock for my old GoPro on it. Basically a foam jacket that goes over the whole thing, and acts as a wind muff. Unfortunately, it does cause higher temps, so there is some trade off there.
you say alot that 10bit is better than 8bit , can you compare them in a video ? because when I did the test I saw no diffrence what so ever even when I applied heavy color change to both.
@jariperho exactly. But he say it like if you film in 8bit .you should delete that video because its garbage. This is what I feel behind his tone .when it's not the case at all
@jariperho did you read my first comment ? I said I applied heavy color grading to 8bit and 10 bit and saw no difference. Plus all his videos colors looks normal. Nothing heavy about the colors
@jariperho I have the same camera he has and I see no difference at all. I'm surprised how just few years ago he only use canon at 1080p 8 bit and now 12 bit and arri alexa and not good enough anymore
Why aren’t you discussing the image processor used in this new product? Is it new or is it the same as the previous generation? For example, I was surprised to learn that GoPro had used the same chip family in 4 generations (the model 10 got a new chip) of their action cameras, which is part of the reason for reliability issues as they attempted to squeeze more and more with each new product. This affects everything.
You should still make videos, even if you don't like the camera or whatever it is. We want your opinions and experience regardless. Releae the ZV video!
Got the Action 4. Great little cam, loving the performance, but I'm not too happy with the D-Log M. Colours don't look too good when you grab them IMO.
Do they still have infuriating 4gb file size limit? Thanks, as always, for the fantastic video. I have bought every DJI pocket and action camera and love them all. But I gave up on all of them for the infuriating 4 GB file size limit have. did they solve that and do they now allow you to record Larger video files? - Eric ZORK Alan & Sweetie [ Professional Poets & Bed Vloggers ]
@@r00kiet80 I gave up on GoPro a few models ago. But I THINK go Pro fixed that. And insta360 onex and go3 can shoot MUCH LONGER before breaking files. Over 20 minutes each
I have been filming my vlogs with a gopro12 but very disappointed with the lowlight, even indoor and outside in the shadows. Im considering to try out a dji or insta360
