This is one of the best comparisons I've seen. Since everyone is always focusing on super night which frankly looks like garbage since it's over sharpened and overexposed. The normal video mode looks really good on the Action Pro 5
if only DJI had less sharpening. like ten time less. I'm starting to think that thay took the default algorythms from the new qualcomm chip that was developed for cheap smartphones (if it has any default default algorythms - I really don't know, but I have no other explanation for this mess from a reputable camera company)
Action 5 supernight mode the video is oversharpened, looks like on old phones. Lots of artifacts and noise but this is probably due to the low bit rate. Action 5 has a maximum of 100 Mbps, Action 4 130 Mbps and ACE 170 Mbps
There is some talks online that DJI might bring high bitrate mode to OA5 in a later firmware update. I hope this happens as bitrate on the OA4 is higher.
@@sessionlog8968 me thinks you’re looking through rose tinted glasses. Ace pro has clearly got the WB all wrong in favour of warming up the picture particularly in night mode.
Can't go wrong with either one for low light and dark environments! For budget and superior raw mic audio, it goes to the Action 5 Pro! I would only buy the Insta360 Ace Pro2 if its mic sound quality is on par with DJI Osmo Action 5's because the latter is already more than sufficient enough!
You know, I used to do a lot of photography and film stuff but haven’t in a few years and I still look at these reviews from that reference point, but now, I’ve learned to take a step back and look at how a layperson would see this footage…97% of people would still sit and watch both and have no issue. If I was watching skating, Motorsport, outdoors, etc…I would and have not even cared. Both of these are good enough
@@mathiassiebert1217 In "Normal video" mode, DJI is superior... but in PURE VIDEO mode, the definition, the dynamic range and the exposure is way BETTER on ACE PRO 1... imagine with ACE PRO 2 coming earlier next days!
I guess for me, and my particular tastes, I just don't like the jittery background of the Ace Pro, nor the overly warm color profile. And while that's mostly taste, I do think the jittery background may get tiring on the eyes for a long video, know what I mean? At any rate, time to get out and use my Action 5 Pro today, as it just arrived last night. Thank you for what you do.
I like the Action 5 Pro better for low light. The Ace Pro also seemed to have a focusing issue at times in this video. Great comparison, thanks for sharing.
I am seriously thinking about crossing over to DJI from GoPro… also I liked that transition at the end when you pointed to your long review vid thumbnail of both cameras… I liked that… I replayed that last part of the vid a couple times…😊
Hey Tamara, great video! aside form the lowlight performance, could you comment on the white balance or colour accuracy of these two? They both seem vastly different, which one is more closer to real life?
I hope more videos cover vlogging style videos formats. Like pure night is not usually issue, as you wouldn't film then if you cant see at all. For me most interesting part is how camera acts when you go from high light to low light and it creates shadows on your face, as I see many cameras not perform good there. Usually worries are not there if light is constant. So going from outside to room with average to low on light would be interesting 😊 hopefully more people cover that in future as i feel that really shows what camera is capable of.
Dji osmo 5 pro is better in everything, especially in night normal video. Ιn terms of focus, the clear winner is the osmo 5 pro!!! One of the best comparisons I've ever watched!
Amazing video Tamara. You Truely are the most hard working content creator I know. 2 videos in one day. I have to give credit where credit is due but you are beyond amazing
Night - Normal video Mode, for insta360 the background "jiggling", could be stabilisation? ...Overalll for Action 5 pro, sharpness OR texture settings abit high, example the branches (starts from 2.20) and on ur face (INDOORS - With Low Light Settings)
Gran trabajo, Muchas gracias Tamara por compartir. Un abrazo enorme desde Santiago de Chile (Latin-America). Ahora bien, la pregunta es para ti: ¿Cuál de las dos eliges?
Thank you for doing an honest review when there are so many shill reviews right now which are just marketing ads for the DJI camera. You often see this when there's a new camera released and you see all these new content creators which you've never seen and they're just paid for by getting free cameras.
I prefer the Action 5Pro in everything. The Ace Pro simply looks over-saturated and over-sharpened, almost unrealistic like a comic. I know many people prefer this but I’m actually super happy that DJI refused to copy the Ace Pro and instead goes their own way. And thanks for this comparison videos Tamara!!! I really appreciate and enjoy it. You simply inform us and tell us what you’ve experienced. Way more informative than many big influencers who get paid from the camera companies.
I don't know what Dji meant when they called the camera professional. But the low-light mode is the processing of the picture by the camera itself. And a professional would have processed the raw file much better, because the picture from the camera stretches well. If you call the camera professional, you probably do not need to add any presets, but add something for a professional such as removable lenses (especially zoom).
All the cameras have positives and negatives, but this is not the problem. The real problem is whatever we are using, we think it is the best because we choose it and we don't like to be defeated.
For me, the Ace Pro always wins IF the correct mode is on (normal with good light, pure video in low light). But the OA5P on “normal” makes a more reliable result than the Ace Pro as if you entre a low light scenario, the image is good. The Ace Pro doesn’t commute automatically, therefore if the light dims and it’s on normal mode, the result is poor. The DJI can start always on normal and the result will be very good, but always very artificial.
Hi Tamara, thanks for nice video, i have a question... can you let me know if DJI mic 2 single transmitter works with Ace Pro currently? What about noise canceling?
@@TamaraGabrielUK thanks for let me know.. DJI mic 2 receiver? What other wireless mic is alternative of dji mic 2, but not very big set up. I am looking for keep smaller setup.
Action 5 pro really destroys Ace pro in normal video mode. In low light conditions both are doing a decent job and I personally don't like action 5 pro's over sharpening in low light. May be something that can be fixed in settings. I guess Ace pro 2 will be on power with Action 5 pro in normal mode. Healthy competition is always good for consumers.
In my opinion, the DJI Action 5 Pro performs much better in poor lighting conditions. The camera delivers significantly more contrast and sharpness, and you don't see any "distortion in the image" in the recordings, unlike the INSTA ACE PRO.
Super night on action 5 is not only useless but quite frankly horrible, it produces horrible artifacting, noise and compression. In normal mode, the action 5 is vastly superior, it has better stabilisation, better dynamic range seen in the indoor footage when you walk towards the glass letting the light in, on the ace pro the highlights are clipping and the detail is lost, on the action 5 both the shadows and highlights retain detail.
@@davidwalker2402 which part is confusing for you? super night is over-processed to sh0t, horrible artifacting and noise with it. In normal mode you get less exposure but its much more natural with minimal artifacting
IMO, I'm still wondering what's inside the head of people doing low light vlog using action cam without external light. I mean you already choose not to use bigger sensor with better low light performance and you still don't want to use external light... What are you trying to achieve? Being a god and beat physics?
Great comparison. I'm still debating if I should purchase the A5pro. As I have an A4 that does a pretty good job. Thank you. I love watching your tech and comparison videos.
Is it just me or does the footage on the action 5 looks worse than the 4 ?? If I take a photo or a video on the action 5 it looks really terrible 😣 what should I do??
The DJI is crashing the Insta360 in almost every scene. I had both here and sent the Ace Pro back. The jitter is unacceptable on the Insta360. Plus the normal modes are different night and day (pun intended). And if you tone done the sharpness and the noise reduction on the DJI, the image is still way better and much more detailed than on the Insta360. Thanks for the comparison, Tamara.
Using the Ace pro for 6 months now, it does a very good job with pure video since the last firmware update from august, i totaly destroys the action5. I just hope Tamara used this last update. I won't get the Action 5, I wait for the Ace pro 2 for now.
The Ace Pro was one year ahead of its time, and still to this day it has incredible performance compared to the 13th generation GoPro, and 5th generation DJI Osmo Action cams. I own the Ace Pro, and for it to be in its first generation, it has set a high bar for the other brands. Can wait for the Ace Pro 2, to continue its competitive push for the King of action cams 😃
