DJI OSMO MOBILE 3 - First time activation and setup. In this video, I will go through how to activate the DJI OSMO Mobile 3. You need to go through this process before the Osmo Mobile 3 will allow you to fully control it. This was tested on the Samsung S10e running the DJI MIMI app.

I was watching the video to get an answer but I didn't get one...so the first couple of official tutorial slides are not regarding the joystick. It is about some sort of stabilization and you can see tge hand holding the moving parts of the gimbal. So it basically instructs you to move the gimbal around while you are holding the moving parts which feels like you are about to break something if you hold it like itnwas described in the first 2 tutorial slides. So what are those slides about?

Do we have to have an internet connection or Bluetooth is fine to work with? Please, reply to me. My concern is that I will not have an internet connection or Mobile Data available when I go to remote places like in the Himalaya or at the middle of the vast desert areas. As well, does it work with Nokia Mobile phones; like Nokia 6?

Good question Mekh Paija, thanks for commenting in! You only need an internet connection for the initial one time activation of the device. You can then use the device freely with your phone without the internet so you should be good to go! Good luck and enjoy!

Hey Analee, thanks for the comment, yes it's nicer in some ways like being able to charge your mobile device easier though it's a bit different, it will take some time to get used to it, I am loving the new MIMO app though the mobile 2 is still a pretty darn good device still!

Question: When I set this up like you did in the video, can I use it on a phone NOT CONNECTED to the internet? I have a Iphone that isn't in service I want to use as a camera only phone. My question is, Can this device be used by any phone after setup? Thanks in advance... great tutorial btw :D

Great question Mark! Yes, the activation is a one time process that needa the internet. Once you have successfully activated, you do not need the internet to use the osmo mobile 3, hope this helps and thanks for your question!

Hey Joe, thanks for watching and also the question! Yes a small one is included but I didnt find it in the video. The writing is a bit small so online video would probably be the easiest way to learn the gimbal

Hi, RTHD, nice video! I have an issue with my Osmo Mobile 3, it's just not working, the status LED indicator blink red and green (That indicator mean that there is a new firmware available or firmware update failed), so I updated it a few times and nothing helps. DJI Support suggest replacement or refund. But It is so so disappointing experience!!! I just want it work!

I got as far as download the app - iPhone 5 :( Any suggestion on a similar device that would work with my iPhone 5? Was pretty excited about this thing. Newer phones give me major eye strain and I can not upgrade at this time. PWM or some stupid software that was created after my phone...

Good catch Bill, I must say, the zoom controls are a bit difficult for me but otherwise, it works fine. I don't use the zoom controls for this reason but as a positive note, zooming with the cell phone cameras could reduce quality anyways so it works out in my case for the best

Thank you so much, unfortunatelt I don't have a mac to test this but if I were make an intelligent guess, I would say no - not without some kind of third party software. A work around might be to get some sort of mobile screen ip streaming software that can record your screen and stream it over to your mac - and then you could patch that into zoom.

Great video! I just got mine yesterday, but I didn’t balance the phone at the beginning of the set up. It looks crooked even when I re-center it, do you know how I can go through the initial set up again? Or how to fix it lol

Thanks Adrian, check out my how to balance the osmo mobile 3 video, it explains the balancing part. The initial setup does not affect the balancing so you should be good to go once you balance properly unless your phone is too heavy or out of dimensions

I have an OM3 on order and have been watching many tutorial videos. Yours is the most relevant that I've seen. I am wondering if I will have to go through that registration / verification process each time I want to use a different phone ? Thank you for your patience in going through this set up process .... most people go way to fast for the information to make sense.

Hey Alan, it's quicker to balance and the mimo app is quite nice so far, the active tracking is near amazing... the only thing I see going for the mobile 2 at this point is controlling the camera movement up and down angles are more while you have to hold the mobile 3 in a different angle to get such a wide angle.

I use moto z olay, Activation, mimo eveyrthing is ok. But the application does not work proper. While opening camera module it failes, turns of the camera and tries to connect the osmo mobile 3. Actuell it seems connected. Can you help ...

Sounds like an android issue to me, check out the supported phones on the dji website, you may have to use one of those unfortunately

Only during the activation do you need the internet after that, it should work on any phone

Just got my mobile 3...but with both my phones A Huawei P20 pro and a Moto X Force.........the phone control buttons are central all on the right hand edge. This mean to put the phone on anywhere near balanced the phone controls are snagging on the clamp turning the phone off in the case of the Huawei.......Not seen any comments about this..but there is no way to balance the phone . Looks like the OSMO has to go back. :(

According to the forum, users got it to work without the case but DJI is not recommending it since it has not been optimized for use on the gimbal, read more here:forum.dji.com/thread-197929-1-1.html

Hey Abdullah, thanks for your question. While your phone seems to running one of tge later android versions, I suspect the phone software is somehow causing your issues. I would recommend using Samsung phones when using DJI products since these are usually listed in their supported devices sections of each product they have available. I have been successful with both the S6 and S10e models. Hope this helps. I used to have a less popular brand phone and it always gave me issues this is why I suggest these. Good luck to you!

Most likely not using a recommended DJI phone that DJI usually specifies, unfortunately not much you will be able to do but try to get a phone that is compatible - usually the samsungs are compatible.

I bought a Dji osmo mobile 3 couple of Days ago. But now i face a issue... Its totally not working. Motor is stop, not moving, not stable, not move with joystick, dont work any button, jun on/off. Otherwise nothing. Not work zoom button, not work M button, not work shutter button. I uninstall app, then i download that again. Still not working.. I love dji. But i never except it. It's really make me shocked. Have any solution for me? Please help me

Has anybody used this with a Nokia 7+ The on/off button is almost central on the right side of the phone, so I doubt whether the phone could be balanced correctly. I could be wrong of course as I have never owned or even seen a gimbal 'in person' It's a lot of money to make a gamble on, if it isn't going to work.

I have S20 Ultra with most current updates. It is not possible to download DJI Osmo app from Google Play - just keeps on "waiting to download" endless attempts via wifi or 4g... I managed to download it directly from DJI website and installed it. Instant crash every single time I try to launch it - tried everything. This gimbal must be activated using the app which is impossible to do since it is impossible to even open the app rendering this gimbal completely useless in my case. WTF DJI??

Yes this really depends on your phone model since different phones run different cpus, some faster that others. If you are running active track, more of the phone cpu will be in use and can result in the phone getting hot. If you are running a slow phone, even just having the app open and recording might be enough for the phone to get hot so it highly depends.
