In this video I discuss the best video settings for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and the Freewell Filter kit - Mega Limited Edition 14 pack filters for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Obviously it is important to set proper settings for the DJI Pocket 3 but ND filters and Mist Filters may also be needed to elavate the DJI Pocket 3 footage.

Hello, thanks for your interesting video and thanks to share it. I need to ask a question please. I only make documentaries in 4K 50p on sunny days. Since it doesn't make much sense to use an ND filter with high framerate and Automatic Exposure, I was hinting to buy a CPL filter and always leave it on, without removing it. I like an image that is a little more contrasted, crispier and with more colour. I use D-Log M, do you think I'll get what I want with CPL filter? Thanks

D-Log M for this camera is the way to go, but I record my family with this camera for my vlogs on RU-vid and for easy editing I record on standard I just reduce de sharpness for -2 and noise -1 and the exposure -0.3 and the results are amazing. The vibrant color of the standard color profile are very nice and for family videos looks happy and not sad dramatic.

Might as well get this over the ZV-e1 and gimbal combo, the difference is noticeable but I feel that the compact factor of this cam is just way better and i'll probably end up wanting to use it more.

My only issue with the Pocket 3 and D log is there’s no preview or assist lut. So I can tell if my sky is blown or if skin is nice. I see that the sky is fine but the face is darker. Same happened in your video when the sun isn’t in your face.

Nice review ; just received my Freewell pack of filters. What a pity DJI didn’t put a little bit more space between the lens and the gimbal arm when camera is off ! When a filter is installed, the lens can’t go in it’s 180° self protective position. It lacks 1/4 of a mm !! But for the ones who wonder : good news : the system « knows » that a filter is on and does not force to push it away. Lens turns only 90° and it’s still possible to store the camera in the case with lens installed .

When you turn off the OP3 with 1 filter on; does not allow to close to original off position. Some people may not be bothered by this i’m certain. Other brands are thinner and allow to get back to off position with 1 filter on.

Have to say I found the video with the ND’s way too dark! Hard to make out much detail in your face and missed out on the beautiful leaves. This is subjective of course. Thought the info provided well done!

Is the Freewell mist filter comparable to the DJI black mist filter? I'm trying to decide between the two and would appreciate some input. After watching videos, it seems like the DJI black mist filter might offer a more pronounced effect than the Freewell version, but I'm uncertain. Any thoughts or comments would be helpful.

What worries me (lots of stuff actually as I'm OCD as hell) but SPECIFICALLY worries me is that OP3 Is NOT IP rated at any level, and those leaves that look so good in slowmo are FULL of gritty, nasty stuff. And your blowing them DIRECTLY on a mechanical gimbal. I considered leaf blowing magical shades of color in flight myself! The look is magical. Please tell me you put the little camera behind a sheet of glass or clear plastic? 🙏 PLEASE! I will lose SLEEP! 😴 imagining that grit working its way ever deeper into the motors, grating... grinding, gritty, sandy abrasive nastiness! Such a terrible end to those beautiful, intensely accurate motors. Grrrrrriiiinnnnddding

I just got my DJI NDs today. Took out the ND64 this morning tested it out. I wish it were thinner, it won’t lock with the ND attached when you turn it off 😢

Lpr is for light pollution - try it at night. I used them a lot when I was doing professional photography

I want to pick one picture profile and stick with it forever. Still in doubt whether to go with dlog-m or HLG. What is your reason to prefer dlog-m? It is not as flat as slog3 and also not that common that Color management in grading software easily transforms it.

Outstanding usage of pocket 3. Do you find any difference in 4k30 and 4k60 footage? Is there any pixel binning/skipping/reduce ADC resolution (dynamic range) kind of thing noticed? I'm curious that no affiliated reviewer talk about how good 4k60 is. Is there any caveat in 4k60 compared to 4k30?

I found that making sure EV 0 is good. Slightly over exposed no problem I found i can recover highlights pretty good

First of all, let me thank you for the fantastic content. Having said that, I have a question on shooting footage that has everything in focus, at least everything within 100m of the camera. Because this camera has an aperture of f2.0, I would assume that it should be quite hard to get everything in focus due to the pretty narrow depth of field that comes with a wide open aperture. So, naturally, I thought that one must be able to close the aperture down, to say, F6, to widen the depth of field. Unfortunately, I found out that it is not possible to change the aperture in camera as you can with a mirrorless/dslr camera. How do I go about increasing the depth of field for vlogging purposes?

Being a happy user of Freewells magnetic 67mm filters I got the 8 pack for the pocket 3 I recently purchased. Without nd filters even on a cloudy day shooting with 25fps 1/50 shutter speed is not possible, so they are a must have. In all honesty all I needed was ND8, 16 and 64 without CPL but now I can lose one and still have a spare. I mainly need it for family videos so the mist and other fancy stuff is not needed for my use case. For the Osmo Pocket 4 they should make it with at least a built in ND8 filter or adjustable aperture because it really takes away convenience having to carry this around. It is quite a finicky process to change them. They also tend to stick to each other being so close together inside the case, which means in practice I may take 3 or 4 along with me and leave the rest at home

Hi Vu, could you test or tell us how you find color cast on those ND's? Specially interested in the consistency, since from other mate I saw big variations from green on the lower strength ND's, to magenta on the higher ones. Cheers and keep up the good work.

With regards to cast .. a little bit here and there is unavoidable , however that is why you shoot dLOG 10bit to correct if needed

I have big hands the mist and lpr filters are hard to take out.. I would also wish I could stack it on the wide angle lens, LPR is great for night shots to get rid of the overpowering lights from the city, cars etc.. Light pollution reduction filters has been around for decades especially in Astronomical photography

Normal color mode IS 10 bit. Unless you select H.264, it IS 10 BIT. Look it up! LPR is light polution, works (a bit) on arc sodium lights at night 🌙 to reduce that nast brown light.
